  1. Yeah that's where I was the ther day.. only got 2 bass and was in random depth and areas. Hoping it gets better soon! Miss those double digit fish days.
  2. So I was wondering if you guys think a big fish can be in small pond/lakes. Or should I stick to the bigger lakes for that. We have this small lake/pond maybe about 20 acres big. The biggest fish I got out of there is about 2 1/2-3 pounds. You think there might be any hogs in here ? Has pretty good structure. Lots of old logs and dead trees sticking up. Weeds and cat tails. Or should I stick to the bigger bodies of water
  3. My lord that's a big fish... I don't even think they come that big where I live.. not even the northern pike and Muskie are that big. Nice catch ha
  4. Thanks man that's awesome!! I have to work this weekend. You think they still be biting like crazy next week? And any specific lures?
  5. Yeah that would be awesomen! I just seen this and the other post. I would greatly appreciate some great pike action. Where's this launch site at?
  6. d**n that sounds like heaven! We don't have anything like that here. An I heard a lot of good things about oak but never fished it. It's like a 2 hour drive for me but I would love to put my canoe in and go. And as for the pike to well! That would make me very happy. I love toothy critters to. Any suggestion of where to go I can put my canoe in? Might take a trip this weekend or next.
  7. Ok awesome info. I went out today and it was super slow on my local lake. It's called bear lake in ny. It's usually super active but nothing was hitting. No topwater. No lipless or crankbaits. Tried spinners. Only thing that work today was worms.. and it was random areas. So idk if the fish are confused or what Ok awesome info. I went out today and it was super slow on my local lake. It's called bear lake in ny. It's usually super active but nothing was
  8. So I'm still new to fishing and this will be my first "fall season" fishing. Just wondering when does this tradition usually take place and what does everyone start to throw? I live in New York , western New York so everyone has a general idea. I hear good things about the fall so I can't wait.
  9. I have to second this! Specially using the whopper plopper! Watching that huge splash from a hog just engulf the thing. Or even when it just tail kicks it out the way.. my favorite moment would hAve to be when my very first pike ever hit the topwater and just exploded ! Couldn't stop shaking after that.
  10. Yeah they usually seem more picky closer to home .. nice catch though man. I hope to get one someday that big. The water I fish has some in the 40 inch range and some Muskie in the 50 inch range.. those are rare though... one can dream
  11. Hell yesh! That's the kind of pike I want ha. I read your story about all the ones you got. That's insane, what lake were you fishing on?
  12. So I finally for my brother in law to give up his secret fishing spots today and man was it fun! For some reason this area of the river has pike like they would bass! Got about 7 pike in few short hours with maybe 12 total strikes. All in about the range shown below... we had one on around 38 inches but he got away ? All in all it's a good day.. safe to say I found my new fishing hole.
  13. Let's see LMB ,SMB, king salmon, steelhead, pumpkin seed , rock bass, bluegill, carp, Chanel cat, northern pike, black crappie, sucker, perch . I guess only 13
  14. I would get a new treble hoook, idk how many times I got a bass or other fish on the boat with just one single hook! Sometimes they short strike and that one hook could mean you landing or losing a fish.
  15. Welcome !
  16. Hell yeah! I learned to stay out and push threw! Sometimes at the last stretch the fish turn on and you catch 10 in an hour !
  17. Whopper plopper all day! Will catch fish anytime of day where I am ! Loon and monkey butt
  18. I have been using topwater baits actually. Early in the morning I throw the mid size 130 whopper plopper and they seem to go crazy for it. I was thinking maybe there not actually taking it but just hitting it or splashing at it. Or maybe the pole na braid like you said is actually to strong
  19. Oh yeah.. I go out for 15 hours but you bet your ass the next day I'm on a tight leash ha.
  20. I finally got my first pike today!! Wasn't rly sure how to get a good pic so don't mind the first time awkwardness hah
  21. That sounds like me. It's funny how all the guys talk about there wives to. I'm new to fishing , only a year or so in and I notice it's usually the wife who gets you back from fishing the fastest hah. And today I stayed longer than usual and I got my first nothern pike!! Couldn't say it better
  22. No not that bad ha. The conewango is a nice river with tons of big pike, Muskie, walleye and bass. It's very turbid with like 2 inch visibility lol. But lots of weed and logs for fish to hang out. Guess I should have stayed longer Yeah I'll have to rough it out next time
  23. So I'm about to fish a river near me, the conewango river if anyone knows. I tried fishing it once before for 2 hours with no luck so I left. but everyone says such great things. How long does everyone fish before leaving? Or do they ever return back if nothing bites
  24. I checked the hooks and there still sharp and sturdy. You can ask my wife..I have the worst luck in the entire world. It must be technique then. I try to fish it like a bass and I think I'm setting the hook like a bass.. I haven't really set it "hard " like everyone is saying Yeah usually I just kinda pop the hookset instead of really driving it.. usually I don't know it's a pike that took it untill after the hookset. Couple times the pike barely took the bait it was a little splash then boom! Reel starts screaming. So I'll try and pay attention and when I feel that huge tug I'll drive the hooks in
  25. Thanks everyone I'm going out tomorrow again! Lets hope I can land it this time. 90% of the time I get the strike on my whopper plopper 130 and the hooks on that are sticky as can be. Lets hope I can land one this time! I have very good hooks , usually gammies or mustad. So I'll try everyone's advice and see what happens
