I don’t mean set the hook on all pressure. Sorry to not clarify. I can tell what weeds are for the most part , but there are times as @Catt had said that your not sure. And I noticed a lot of the times I wasn’t sure I didn’t bother to set the hook. So now if I’m unsure at all I set the hook until I get better at detection.

I think the Curado 70 might take the cake here lol

Looking for a good quality small and lightweight casting reel. I have a rod with a bigger seat on it than I like.but I need a smaller lightweight reel to be able to palm it. Price range is up to 180$ Going to be using it for jigs, worms, swimjigs and heavier T rigs

I have to say unless you know 100% it’s weeds always set the hook. I started fishing a jig a lot this year, that was my fishing resolution to get better at jigs. I was out fishin last week and I swore I had weeds on my jig every few casts but when I reeled it in now even a single weed residue was on it. I thought to myself something is wrong. The next time I felt that “mushy” feeling everyone mentions. I swore it was weeds bc I felt no tick or tug but I felt mush.. I set the hook anyways and what do ya know.. it was a fish. Nice 3 pounder. So now I set the hook on all the mush until I can get better at telling the difference

I love my quantum’s, I have the smoke and vapor and both are amazing. Never had s problem with either and I’m pretty hard on them.

I found this small lake while driving to the normal lake I fish, it’s literslly maybe 200 yards from the road but it’s compeltely Blocked by trees. I managed to find an area that I can put my canoe in. It’s actually a lake that a main creek runs threw. The creek looks like it splits off into this 20 acre lake so I decided to try fishing it and omg! Every fish I caught was just fat and healthy. I caught a limit of 23 pounds for 5 bass which may not seem like a lot but for being up north in a little canoe is crazy. Every fish was just fat as could be. Between 3-6 pounds. I have never been to a lake like this. Also I noticed a lot of schools of baby bass.. I didn’t see any bait fish at all which confused me as to why the bass are so healthy. I must have see hundreds or thousands of little baby bass everywhere though. I knew there had to be bluegill so I used a bluegill swimjig and a black/blue/purple finesse jig and they both just got hammered. Wish I taken more pics but I was just having fun. Here is at least one(my face looked horrible in this so I colored it out haha ). Can’t wait to go back .. I really think my new Pb might be in there.

I try to prevent the jump in the first place if able. If I feel the fish heading up I’ll take my rod and sweep down and even into the water and try to to pull it’s head back down. Obviously if your 30-50 yards out then you can’t really control that much. Just pray.. give little slack and be ready to take tension again after the fish goes back in.

Caught my PB this year at 5 6 first cast of the pre spawn season

You ever wanna come to Lake Erie I live 5 minutes from the harbor. Lake Erie pre spawn smallmouth is the best you will ever see! Catch 50 bass easily all between 3-5 pounds no problem.

See that’s funny bc I have never caught a pike on those , I have had bet luck with black/red , black/white , white/chartreuse

I work second shift so I fish a lot in the mornings and get home by lunch. Usually try to get out between 3-5 times a week.

I ordered some topwater lures and seen the bubble walker had some good reviews. It had the 3 inch”80” and 5 inch “128”so I figured I would go with the 5... I didn’t think it would be that huge! I mean the walking baits come in 5 inches but much smaller looking profile. This thing looks like a musky popper.. has anyone ever had any luck with these with small and large size bass ? Wondering how good the draw power is or is it to big. I live in NY so not to many 10 pounders swimming around eating huge baits lol. Thank in advance.

Yeah I fish the same but started fishing the weeded area more. The whole back part of the lake or Bay Area is covered. They used to just be submerged down all The way last year and this year they seem to have grown to the top. I try punching them but I’m new to that technique so I’ll keep trying I guess.

Idk if it turned , it was like 85 and sunny everyday for weeks and now it’s cold and rainy and some wind but even when it was sunny and nice I didn’t get anything. No Carp I know , it’s cslled bear lake in Ny you can look it up online. Just hasn’t had any good fishing all year. It has been really high waters though and a lot more weeds than usual but bass like weeds so idk
