  1. He also gets everything for free I’m sure from sponsors lol. And I know he has his own rod line and has a jerkbait one I think .. where’s @A-Jay on this one
  2. The tackle trap? What’s that and yeah I was looking at that but 300$ is just to much that I could spend. I can’t justiffy it lol
  3. So I love jerkbait fishing. I live next to Lake Erie and the smallies love jerkbaits from April -June and the largemouth to in the smaller lakes. I fish jerkbaits year round as the lakes aren’t deep. I have been using my G loomis for jerkbaits but the problem is that it’s made for jigs and worms. I need a MH rod with a fast tip but not super stiff. I fish a lot of submerged grass and need to be able to move the bass somewhat without tearing hooks out. This spring I lost countless fish bc they would rip out. I went and tried out some rods at my shops but they don’t have much.: I tried G loomis e6x and felt stiff. The Shimano Curado rod also felt little tough. 13 ***, st croix mojo. Lews and fenwick.. they all don’t feel right. I tried suggestions and keep digging but nothing I can find. I checked all the posts on here but they mention the rods I already said and it just doesn’t work it’s to stiff for those tiny trebles to put any pressure on. I thought about a moderate fast rod but then it becomes harder to work the “twitch” any others I might be missing. Price range is around 200$ I know some companies have jerkbait specific rods but we don’t have any local to me and don’t wanna buy one and have it not be what I want. Also most jerkbait specific rods seem to be medium power only
  4. I know I’m going to have to work some OT to Keep up hah. It was fun though it was somewhat of s rush throwing the bait waiting for the big bite. Already planning my black Friday sale purchases
  5. So I decided to start throwing some big or “bigger” swimbaits to get hat trophy fish. I know you can spend hours without a bite. I started off with a 68 perch hudd but I feel like I need to learn that some more. I switched over to a new 7 inch keitech and Boom! First ever swimbait fish.. and it’s funny how everyone says small fish eat them to but you can’t belive it until you see it .. little guy was barely 1.5 pounds
  6. I have a 7ft 2 fenwick HMG moderate fast that I have used this year for cranking. It also has a lews LFS 6:8:1 ratio for sale. Very good crankbait rod but I’m looking to get something different. Let me know if interested
  7. Joining the swimbait game ! Also have 3 hudds comming 68 special perch and trout colors ! Can’t wait to start using them and man! These Keitechs are huge!
  8. Funny bc the same thing kinda happens to me. My wife doesn’t fish me a lot but she knows where I go and has been to all the spots. A lot of times I’ll be like”hey I’m going fish tomorrow and going to this lake” and she responds with “ok but I have a feeling you should go here instead” and I always listen to her.. and every time I go to the lake her “gut” feeling gives I pull out monsters. 5-7 pounders .. she has the fish instinct
  9. I called dobyns this morning and the guy I talk to said he uses the abu Garcia toro or he said even the winch would be good choice. So I’ll probbsly go with one of those @WRB thank you for the help
  10. I’ll call tomorrow and I should have noted that my budget for the reel is 200$ max so the tranx is just outside that
  11. I’m purchasing a dobyns 806 to throw 2-5 oz baits and I was looking for a decent casting reel to go along with this. I have seen people on here mention some but those were the circle casting rods which I’m not to fond of. Wondering if anyone uses anything else like a quantum smoke as it has a deeper spool or the abu Garcia revo? Could those work for swimbaits or is it to much to handle. Some advice please and thanks
  12. Huh I have never heard of anyone using those colors but I can’t argue with you , don’t think anyone can lol
  13. So I’m finally getting some swimbaits and im sure some people know but I live up north. I am going to get some Matt lures Ultimate Gill. The MS slammer and a couple huddlestons. Problem is idk what color to get for the hudds. I’m torn between the perch or the lite trout. We don’t really have trout in the lakes I fish but I know everyone says “you don’t need trout for them to bite” but we do have a lot of perch where I fish and figured that would be better as it’s reslly imitating a true bait fish. Anyone have experience with these? Would you go with perch or trout ??
  14. I was thinking of going with the avid x , I think they have some at our cabelas just didn’t know anyone who had any or how they held up.
  15. Thanks @A-Jay and @NHBull I was going to use topwater son the jerkbait rod also. I am looking for something between 150$-225$ range.
  16. Looking for a sensitive and lightweight jerkbaits/small crank and squarebill rod. I have been using a MH mojo bass rod but it’s heavy and not sensitive enough. When I fish with jerkbaits a lot of times they hit it while it’s sitting there on the pause and it’s hard to feel the hit or tell if they ate it and sometimes they spit it before I can set a hook. And fishing for 8 hours with such a heavy rod can kill my wrists with the twitching. I prefer MH fast action but soft enough tip to not rip trebles out of the face.
  17. I have a similar lake almost twins and I have great luck early mornings with buzzbaits, frogs or walking baits or during the day , senko t rigged weightless , swimjig. Spinnerbaits work the best. In fall lipless cranks retriever fast also work. Ripping out of grass
  18. I have met good people and good friends , something to relax and relieve stress and enjoy he outdoors and mostly open the doors to my bank .. ?.
  19. I’ll look into those , are they pretty light ? I wanna be able to throw some of the bigger lures if needed. So I figure I would go for something up to 6 oz but I’m sure you can still throw a 2 oz bait on Yeah I have a couple smaller swimbaits like. 120 s wager and ganteral jr but that’s it. I heard braid to leader is pretty much the go to for swimbaits bc you have to set that hook hard.
  20. I actually don’t have a swimbait rod yet. I am literally just getting started and have been researching for a good rod. The heaviest rod I have now is the irod gen2 Fred’s magic stick. I was looking at the okuma swimbait rods guide select or the 13 muse rod. I think I want a moderate fast or fast tip. Looking to be able to throw swimbaits from 2-6 oz
  21. The Labor Day sale got me.. crankbaits and chatterbaits ? I hope these zakos look good, I usually use keitechs only but heard zako produce well.
  22. How much are you asking ? Looks good how much you asking ?
  23. They were sold out ?? lol How big was she anyway? SHe looks thick
  24. Every single place I find either has the redear or the crappie .. I need the bluegill! Do you know how often they make them or ?
  25. Does anyone know where to purchase them? Every site I have found has said sold out or only 1 color available that I don’t need. Looking for the bluegill colors or white.
