  1. I love the night before going fishing! I’m jsut starting to get the tackle out now, re spooling all my reels and getting ready for ice out up here in western New York! I have another month easily of ice and even then I’m still excited
  2. If you email megabass itself they send free hooks. I got 2 free packs when mine wore out from them
  3. How do you like your nucanoe ?? I’m looking at getting the frontier 12 but haven’t pulled the trigger. I fish out of an old town saranac 14 6 now. How much nicer is the nucanoe
  4. How stable is this? I have an old town saranac that I fish from and I can easily stand in it and fish. I took a look at the specs and the old town is only 36 inches wide as this canoe says it’s 41! Is this thing pretty stable? I think I might get one
  5. HEllo and welcome !
  6. Thanks man ! I was leaning towards the proteus myself and I think you sealed the deal.
  7. Yeah that makes sense. When it gets cold I’ll just have to layer up I wasn’t sure if the proteus had the cuff protection though. I can’t see it in the pics. I know the hydronaut does.
  8. So I’m going to order a rain suit this week and have come down to these two choices. I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with both and what are the pros or cons. I want something warm but also something I can wear all year long even in summer days. I could always layer underneath during colder months. Which is a better choice to keep me dry and away from elements
  9. Then I guess what is a good rain suit ? @Scott F I heard about Simms I think but those are pricey
  10. Yeah! Everything I find is either made for ice fishing ! Or just rain gear with nothing to keep me warm. I don’t wanna have tons of layers , specially in spring where it could be 40 in the morning then sun and 60 later.
  11. Yeah I’m looking to get one suit that does both. And @sully420 thanks I’ll take a look at those. They aren’t super heavy ?
  12. Sorry as idk where this thread belongs but I’m looking at gettin a official rain gear/cold weather gear for early spring and fall fishing. I don’t fish when the temps dip into freezing so anything that will keep me dry and warm from temps as low as 40 will be fine. I looked at the gore tex stuff but all I find around here is ice fishing gear that’s super heavy. I want something water proof and warm but not super heavy. Any suggestions anyone ? Price range is around 300$ for both jacket and bibs.
  13. Yeah that helps to ha. I figure my house will be paid off in 2 years and that’s when I’ll get my boat! 2 years seems lik forever though I already own a truck so hauling it wouldn’t cost much. Storing it would’ve my bigger issue. I know a guy though who charges only 400$ for the winter season from like novermber to April or whenever it’s done snowing to stow away..
  14. I know this is a little old but I myself was in this situation. I was looking at buying a new Lund adventure series this spring and my issue is that I’m a worry wart. I had the money to afford it bewteen me and my wife and we also don’t have kids. I always have that voice in my head like “well what if something happens or what if I lose my job “ I had an extra 1200$ a month that was disposable income and still wasn’t sure if it was smart ! I like @A-Jay way of thinking and also is the same as my wife. Money doesn’t mean value , memories and enjoyment in life is much better than any dollar.
  15. Sounds like I should stick with 12 pound then. I can cast it just fine and don’t think it effects my jerkbaits much. Use the megabass vision 110 and rapal x rap mainly
  16. Yeah I only use the sniper as I found it best for me. So you think there isn’t much of a difference in size between 10 and 12? So it’s safe to say I can use 12 and shouldn’t take away from bites ? And I use it on casting gear
  17. Yeah my PB is only 5 pd 4 oz now and that was when water temps were around 60, omg the acrobatics and flips those fish can do! I love it and hate it at the same time. Someday I hope to break into that 7 pound smallmouth range and get it mounted. And I’m sorry you don’t have any tank smallies those are the best
  18. This is why I was hesitant to go to 10 pound. If I ever happened to encounter a 7-8 pound smallie omg ! I can’t imagine the fight that puts up
  19. I didn’t realize there was such a tiny difference. You can’t even tell with that small change.
  20. Thanks you both @EGbassing I was thinking 10 also just till it gets later. I don’t think I ever broke off with 10 as the drag is set a little loose bc of the tiny trebles on jerks. Looks like I’ll have to invest into at least one 10 pound line.
  21. Yeah the two week forecast here shows lows of 10 and highs of 30!! So excited... not! I hoping it warms up by end of March so we can have an early ice out!
  22. So I’m starting to go threw my tackle for the spring season up north. Now I noticed I don’t have any 10 pound fluoro but I have a couple 12 of the sunline super fc sniper which is my favorite. I’m wondering if you guys think going down to 10 would make a difference for jerkbaits? I’ll be fishing Lake Erie for smallmouth all prespawn and would you think the 2 pound difference would make the smallies not bite ? Like being line shy.. I honestly can’t remember what I have used the past 2 years..
  23. Yes she does! She doesn’t fish like I do but she comes out from time to time. She is more of a worm and hook kinda girl. Occasional lure but she enjoys it. Her entire family , brothers dad and everyone all fish at ton also. It’s a family thing
  24. I never keep or eat bass. I don’t like seeing them be taken either but I know sometimes it’s good. I hate seeing people abuse it and taking way over the limit etc. if your legal then by all means feed the family but don’t go overboard
  25. Nah she is very very laid back and has the best sense of humor. Also ! She enjoys fishing from time to time and goes out with me !
