  1. Found this black widow making a web near my fishing rods yesterday. Needless to say it's a goner now! Getting its web off of my rods wasn't the easiest either. ?
  2. Beautifully Awesome! ?
  3. Awesomeness! Congratulations on your new PB! Nice looking bass. If you're using an Android smartphone you can download the Image Shrink Lite app and downsize your photos before uploading them on here. I've been using that app for over a year now. Works great! ?
  4. To each his own. I don't worry about reusing them because it's so easy to do and they are there when I need them, not on the way in the mail. I'm all for whatever works for everybody else. Just was giving my .02 worth. ?
  5. Closest thing I've had to that is throwing a frog in a pond that has lots of ducks swimming around. I don't cast near them, but they see it out there and swim towards it. So far I've been able to get it reeled in before they could get to it. I don't fish there much anymore as I have yet to catch anything there. They say there's bass in there, but that's yet to be seen. Plenty of ducks, geese, catfish and bream though. ?
  6. Howdy from NW Louisiana and welcome to our fishing family! ? Where in Louisiana are you from? I'm currently in Minden.
  7. Howdy and welcome to our fishing family! ?
  8. Congratulations on all your success thus far! Keep it up! Another congrats on the wife getting involved with bass fishing and wanting a boat! I can't talk my girlfriend into bass fishing to save my life. She'd rather fish for catfish...lol! The bass being as hungry as they are in the shallow pools tells me there probably isn't sufficient forage for them there. To be on the safe side I would start letting them go on the other side of the 8' dam that has the deeper water. That will at least increase their chances of survival a little more if not substantially more. Take care, good luck and if I haven't already, Welcome to our fishing family, @Tim Cox! ?
  9. Did some night time grocery shopping at Wally World. Had to visit the fishing section as always...lol. picked up another Plano 3600 Prolatch Stowaway box, a pack of 5" watermelon red flake Yum Dingers, a pack of 6" watermelon red flake Yum lizards, a 1/2oz Ol' Bass Magnum Pop-R and a pack of 1/10oz green pumpkin Z Man Finesse Shroomz Ned Rig heads. The Plano case was alot cheaper than my store has it and the Finesse Shroomz heads were a dollar cheaper as well. We didn't have the Yum Dingers in the color I wanted and we don't carry the Yum lizards for some reason. Hope I get to try them all out soon. ?
  10. You are correct. It's on YouTube. I tried to say the name of it in an earlier post on this thread, but it wouldn't allow it I guess. The only thing I can add to what you said about reusing them is to wet the line before sliding the stop onto your new main line. ?
  11. I'd rather just spend the $1.99 on a pack of 9 6th Sense ones I've been getting and now that I know I can reuse them, a pack of 9 is practically a lifetime supply. Plus I don't have to wait to get them in the mail or pay shipping. ?
  12. Never used any bobber stops from Amazon. I get all mine(6th Sense Peg X Stoppers) from Academy. Only $1.99, before my discount! Plus I just saw a video today on how to reuse them whenever need be. It does work! ?
  13. Awesomeness! Congratulations! Definitely a rare accomplishment. Way to Git R Done! ?
  14. Howdy @Gary Daniel Gullett and welcome to our fishing family! ? I don't own a boat, rarely get to get out on one, and almost never get to fish at night. When I have done any night fishing I use a headlamp for finding and tying my lures on and unhooking fish. Also use it to look around, although not very far around, to see if I can spot any surface activity or any possible targets I believe the fish will be. Only other lighting used is whatever light posts the recreation area may have. Good luck and light lines! ?
  15. Congratulations on a great finish to a not so great start! Best of luck at the Classic in August! May God Bless y'all with safety and a BIG WIN! ?
  16. Never thought of doing it that way. Guess because my pitching skills aren't that great with a baitcaster yet. I'm better pitching with my spinning rod, but still need lots of work on that too. Accuracy is ok, just making the quieter entry isn't all that great...lol. ?
  17. No problems casting Ol' Monsters weightless. However, I am using spinning gear doing that. Haven't achieved any greatness of any kind casting weightless worms/creature baits etc. with my baitcaster yet. I am getting a little better casting lighter weighted baits with my it. Still gotta long way to go with that though.
  18. I always throw mine weightless in that depth of water. Even when the wind is blowing, unless it's a really strong wind. Then I'll use an 1/8oz or 1/4oz weight. Usually, though, if the wind is blowing too hard for a weightless Ol' Monster I'll change it out to a 5" or 6" stick bait weightless. They have better aerodynamics in a stronger wind than an Ol' Monster. I feel like I get more and better bites when I can throw them weightless. Plus, they don't come back with near as much moss/weeds/grass etc. when they are weightless. ?
  19. Thanks! I have some Owner weighted hooks like that. I'll have to try it next time I'm out fishing.
  20. Forgive my ignorance, but what is Rage Rigged? I found one of those Eeliminators in a pack of one of the baits you sent me. Didn't know what it was until I looked on the SK website a while back. I thought it was a Rage Tadpole or something like that...lol. ?
  21. Howdy from NW Louisiana and welcome to our fishing family! ? I fish from the bank as well and it does get discouraging sometimes when I can't really get to where I believe the bass are more likely to be. Some days are good and some out right suck...lol!
  22. Got out for a few hours today hoping to have a good day. Didn't really happen like I'd hoped, but did manage 1 nonscorable bass on a wacky rigged green pumpkin Zoom trick worm. That was the only bite I got before the rain came down. Had a couple more bites then, but lightning made me pack up and head back to my girlfriend's house. Oh well it happens like that sometimes! ?
  23. I agree. All hook sets are not swinging for the fences hook sets. I've fished Texas rigged senkos on thin wire hooks and did the same thing, dropped the rod tip, reeled in slack and just pulled slightly more than usual because I felt the weight and just reeled in a 2+lber. Either way they are both setting the hook. One with lots of gusto and one without all the gusto. I've also had bass hammer chatterbaits, with stout hooks, that hooked themselves. More subtle bites tend to need a little more of a hook set than the hammering type bites do. At least in my experiences so far. I'm still learning though and so far nothing ever seems to be an exact way to do it every time. ?
  24. When you feel the bite, drop the rod tip down, reel in your slack and then set the hook. If the bluegill, sunfish or whatever else is biting is big enough, you can still catch it by doing those 3 steps. 1. Drop the rod tip down 2. Reel in slack 3. Set the hook ?
  25. Howdy John and welcome to our fishing family! ?
