  1. Howdy and welcome to our fishing family! ?
  2. Today I picked up a pair of Buff fishing gloves(light blue was the only color we had in my size and I'm tired of almost losing my rod out of my hand on hook sets), a pack of TroKar 4/O EWGs, a pack of Owner 1/O Mosquito hooks and a pack of Zoom watermelon red Tiny Flukes for drop shotting before I left work. Later on went to Bass Pro Shops and picked up a pair of Rapala fish grips, a bull frog Heddon Zara Spook and a pack of 4.5" green pumpkin BPS Wacky Stik-Os. Supposed to go fishing in the morning. Looking forward to trying them out. ?
  3. Happy Birthday @A-Jay my friend! Have a great day filled with God's Blessings! ?
  4. Howdy Rich and welcome to our fishing family! ?
  5. Gonna try some drop shotting next time I'm out. Picked up some Owner 2/O Mosquito Hooks, some 1/8oz and 1/4oz Green Gremlin steel drop shot sinkers. Also picked up some more 40lb Sufix 832 for my 6'10" MHF Lew's American Hero baitcaster that I plan on dedicating solely for topwater now. My spinning rod is now set up with 20lb Sufix 832 main line with about 4' of 10lb P Line copoly leader connected with a uni to uni knot 2/O Owner Mosquito Hook about a foot or so tag with an 1/8oz drop shot sinker. Possibly dedicating that rod to drop shots. Gotta get another spinning set up to dedicate to weightless Texas rigs, Ned rigs and wacky rigs. Just getting tired of rerigging the only spinning rig I have now. Will continue to rerig as long as I have to though. May be a while before I can get another spinning rig. ?
  6. I had one of those $5 Ozark Trail scales. It wouldn't even register a fish that was 3lbs or better. I eventually got an Ozark Trail digital scale. It's accurate up to -5 to +5 grams of the actual weight. Works for me for now anyways. That $5 one, though, is a piece of junk! It says it will weigh up to 50lbs. I think the fish would have to weigh 50lbs before that thing would register it...lol. ?
  7. That KICKS BASS! Congrats big time on some true Big Uns! Well done! ?
  8. Finally decided to get me some Trokar hooks today. Picked up a pack of 3/O and 5/O Magworm EWGs. They're definitely proud of those things. They were a bit pricey, even with my discount...lol! ?
  9. Got out for a couple hours to a new lake, to me anyways, Ivan Lake in Cotton Valley, La. It has lots of potential plus lots of bank and 5 fishing piers to fish from. Wasn't there long enough to really figure anything out as it was too hot. Didn't catch any bass. Did catch another bowfin. No pic of it because it shook my bait as I got it on the bank and disappointed it wasn't a bass just pushed it back in the water with my foot. It was a cool catch though. It slammed my 110 Whopper Plopper. Sounded almost like a whip cracked when it hit. It was a pretty good sized one too. Almost as big as that 6lb 11oz one I posted earlier this year. After being back home for a while I was checking the line on the rod I caught it with for any nicks or abrasions and happened to notice the teeth marks it left behind. Some serious grooves in my 110. Glad I didn't have to deal with unhooking it! ?
  10. I've been to Lake Lanier, but never fished it. That was back when I was a teenager and had lost interest in fishing by then. My dad used to live in Stone Mountain. He had a 27.5' Bayliner and we had lots of fun being towed around in a 2 man raft. Beautiful lake and sure would like to fish it now. Wish I had still been into fishing then. The knowledge I would have if I'd never lost interest. ?
  11. I'm guessing I palm my reel like most do. No, I'm not missing a finger...lol! ?
  12. Howdy and welcome to our fishing family! ?
  13. I've had decent success with them before. Haven't thrown one in a little over a year now. Junebug, junebug red and tequila sunrise are promising colors. Not too shabby on a Carolina rig! ?
  14. I have some of those in chartreuse. Will give them a shot as well. ?
  15. Trying something a little different next time I go out. I bought some 20lb Sufix 832 today and spooled it on my spinning rig. Hoping it helps more with finesse and casting distance. ?
  16. Okeechobee and Sam Rayburn for largemouth Eerie and Hubbard for smallmouth I've never caught a smallmouth because there aren't any in Louisiana. It would definitely be awesome to fish for some of those brown bass! ?
  17. Really looking forward to fishing it. Didn't get a chance to go yesterday, but supposed to be going Sunday.
  18. Definitely gonna give it a try. Thanks! ?
  19. In order to do that I just need to push the worm over the weedguard pin and then put the hook through the worm kinda like a Texas rig, right?
  20. Cross Lake would probably be your best bet in the Shreveport area. Florida strain bass are stocked in there now. It also has a substantial amount of cypress trees on the west side of it. When are you gonna be in the area? ?
  21. 30lb Sufix 832 on spinning gear 40lb Sufix 832 and 17lb Vanish flouro on baitcasting gear ?
  22. Not sure if I have any regular grubs, I do have some hula grubs. I think they're longer than 3" though. Will those work as well?
  23. As much as I like a good fire, I'm not real keen on the house type...lol! Plus it's not my house to burn down. ?
  24. After reading an article in the latest edition of the weekly Bass Resource newsletter, I had to get me one. A 1/2oz Johnson Siver Minnow weedless spoon. Hoping to get out today to try it out along with a Ned rig. Never tried either before so just maybe I'll have some better luck on my next outing. ?
