  1. Hello and welcome aboard Brian!
  2. Hello and welcome aboard Nick!
  3. Congratulations little man! Nice rod and reel. He'll definitely appreciate it more being as he earned it. I look forward to the pics you post when he catches his first bass with it.
  4. Hello and welcome aboard James!
  5. Not familiar with a swing head jig or a Biffle Bug. They sound interesting though.
  6. Lmbo! ? They make a good gumbo!
  7. I don't have any plans of stopping any time soon. ?
  8. Great catch, Al! Congratulations on a new PB!
  9. Great story. Thank you for your service and God Bless you @El Cheapo! ?
  10. I can relate...lmbo! ? Hate it when I get hung up in the trees! ?
  11. That is so me! Just ask my girlfriend...lmbo! ??
  12. I use straight braid mostly. Sometimes I use some of the mono line I have for a leader, Carolina rig for example. Don't really think it makes much of a difference if any. When I use mono it always seems to get a little out of whack when I tighten my knots down because just pulling the tag end to tighten it doesn't fully secure it for some reason. I don't have that problem with braid plus the knots are way easier to tie with it. Never tried flouro before, can't really afford it. Only reason I have braid is because of an Academy gift card my bossman gave me, otherwise I can't really afford braid either. Probably shoulda got some flouro with it too. Didn't think about it at the time I guess.
  13. Thanks for the info on that. One of these days I hope to catch me one worthy of being replicated.
  14. At my likes limit for the day, so I can't hit that button up there. I like that though. Looks really awesome! I'm new to alot of this still, so how exactly does the replica thing work?
  15. Hello and welcome aboard!
  16. Gonna have to try that one Larry Nixon taught you. I tried to like this post, I'm at my 40 likes limit for the day. ?
  17. Favorite methods, for me, is Texas rigged weightless and Carolina rigged with a 1/4oz or 3/8oz bullet weight. They are the only things I really get bit on. I do like learning my Booyah Pad Crasher, though. Had a couple bites on it, unfortunately no hook sets yet. I ain't giving up on it though! ?
  18. When I get to go fishing I could stay out there forever, whether I'm getting bites or not. Because the way I see it is, being a beginner bass fisherman, it's practice, time on the water, learning how to use the different lures I have and very enjoyable being there. I usually don't get to stay out there near as long as I would like. My girlfriend can't handle when it's hot out there and she almost has to drag me away from the water. Most of the time, here lately anyways, it's the rain we been getting. Always seems to rain on the days I can go fishing. I just wish I could have one good day to do nothing but fish. I am greatful for the time I do get to go though.
  19. Hello and welcome aboard!
  20. Thank you. Should I peg the weight or not?
  21. Nothing wrong with old school. I don't think it makes you a weirdo. I use lead split shots when I catfish. I think I still have some 1/4oz lead worm weights. I've just been trying different things to see what works best for me. So far, other than the one bass on a Carolina rig, only weightless Texas rigged worms has caught any bass for me. I just gotta keep working at it when I can.
  22. I've heard you could use the same octopus hooks you have and bend the hook point out away from the shank slightly to increase the gap. It would save you money from having to buy different hooks.
  23. I have been seeking the Zoom Centipede in Wal Mart, Academy and Holloway here in Pineville and Alexandria, La. with no luck. Finally went to Louisiana Archery today, for the first time, and found them. Got me a pack! Now I recall, in a different post and topic, @Catt recommended fishing them Carolina rigged. I have a question. I know in a Carolina rig the worm or soft plastic is Texas rigged. My question is, how do you Texas rig a centipede? I ask because they have an awkward kind of look to them. As you can see in the pics below. Please show a pic of it so I can see what it looks like. Thanks in advance for all the helpful knowledge you've given me thus far.
  24. Hello and welcome aboard! I don't really know anything about life jackets, I never use them as I fish from the bank. Wish I could help you out there. I'm sure there's some good folks on here that can help you out though. Good luck!
  25. Couple of final questions @Catt, when using a bullet weight for this, should I peg the weight or let it slide freely? Also the bullet weights I have are 1/8oz and 3/16oz steel and 1/4oz tungsten, which would you recommend?
