  1. I've got the blackberry in Mann's Original Jelly Worm 12". No luck yet, but I'm sure it's just lack of trying. I got some 5/O EWG offsets today also. They may work better with those big ole Jelly Worms. Fixing to go to bed now so I can get up early and hit that pond again at first light. May try some Booyah Pad Crasher first, but will end up throwing the Ol' Monsters I'm sure...lol! ? I did think about the plum apple color they had also, but finally decided on the red bug. Glad I did!
  2. Thought the Ol' Monster bite had slowed, guess it was just the junebug red color. Bought some more Ol' Monsters today in red bug color and they loved it, at least these three did. It's gonna be a good fishing weekend, I can just feel it! ?
  3. Not working on mine either.
  4. @Crank Bait Nut you shoulda had a plate on your boat that said "Stupid People Should Not Breed"!
  5. Yep! They get all cross eyed! Lmbo! ?
  6. I never, never, never, never get tired of fishing! I only take breaks from it out of need not want. That's because my girlfriend needs me to do something or whatever. Otherwise I could fish all day everyday!
  7. Coolio! My girlfriend picked them out...lol. ?
  8. I didn't catch anything that day. I do post pics when I catch something in the Latest Catch Pics topic in the Fishing Reports forum I believe it is. Unfortunately we didn't wear purple and gold. Actually need to get some to wear. I've moved so many times in the past few years that I've lost alot of things including any LSU apparel that I had. I've been doing more fishing than keeping up with football or even baseball. Those are the only ones I really care about. Thanks for asking though.
  9. Howdy and welcome aboard!
  10. Totally agree! I've never gotten angry after reeling in a bass. I have laughed at some of the little baby ones I've pulled in though...lol. The smaller pond I've been fishing here lately in my neighborhood has a spot kinda in someone's backyard. They happened to be outside this evening while I was there and I got permission to fish along the bank of their backyard. Really psyched about that because there's a big ole tree a couple feet or so from the bank in that area and I've been dying to fish it. I did a little this evening, didn't have much time before it got too dark for me to see plus the bugs were horrendous. So I went on home skunked in an hours time. It's ok though, I can fish that spot when I can see better another day. Gonna try pitching or skipping a jig in there and hopefully have some luck with something other than the Ol' Monster. The bite on that has slowed down for now and I tried the Mann's 12" Original Jelly Worm with no luck. It was a short time out there though. Congrats on your first top water frog bass! Congrats on your first punch bass! I would have been excited to have caught that with something I haven't ever tried before too. Next time you'll catch a big un!
  11. Howdy and welcome aboard Steve! Thank you for your service in law enforcement. Blue Lives Matter!
  12. Went to Wal Mart to get some more Zoom Ol' Monsters and they didn't have any. I was wanting to get the Magnum ones anyways and they had these Mann's 12" Original Jelly Worms. They had them in grape and blackberry, so I got the blackberry ones. If the weather permits, I'm gonna go try them out here if a few.
  13. Howdy and welcome aboard! I've been bass fishing in a couple small ponds in my neighborhood here in Central Louisiana for the past week and been Texas rigging 10.5" Zoom Ol' Monsters weightless. Just casting into cover or as close as I can get to the cover and slowly reeling it in. I've caught 11 bass in those ponds ranging from about a half pound or so to about 2lbs or so. Most of them were about a pound though. Still was fun catching them. You could try that and maybe it'll work well for you and your youngun too. Good luck!
  14. Howdy and welcome aboard Tom!
  15. I've only got 3 - 1/4oz tungsten bullet weights. I've got lead and steel ones that range from 1/8oz to 3/8oz. Got some 3/16oz lead drop shot weights and some 1/4oz egg weights. Also have lead split shot, not really sure the weight on them, I use when I'm catfishing. Don't really use weights that much though, I usually Texas rig weightless because most of the waters I fish aren't very deep or at least the part of the water I can get to isn't very deep.
  16. I'd have to say braid too. Hasn't hindered my hook ups, if anything it has increased it. Knots are easier to tie, it's very strong and it holds up well. Never thought I'd pay that much for fishing line, but I'm glad I did. One more thing I never thought I'd need are Zoom Ol' Monster 10.5" worms. I'm sure glad I bought some. They have been what most of the bass I've caught wanted. Out of 16 bass I have caught, since I started bass fishing, I've caught 13 on the Ol' Monster. Best $4-$5 I've ever spent on bait/lures. 9 in a pack. All are pretty beat up now, but I still have one unused one left. Gotta get some more soon. Gonna even get some Magnum Ol' Monster 12" worms. They gotta be at least as good if not better.
  17. Right on. I was thinking somewhere in the 5lb + range.
  18. Wow! I'd be 5 minutes late to work if I had the time before work to go catch something like that too. Nice bass! How much did that big girl weigh? You're right, it's easier to top a 2-3lber than it is to top 8lbs plus. Any day now I expect to have a new PB, hoping so anyways.
  19. Went to the bigger pond today for a couple hours. The walk there turned from about 45 minutes to only about 15 minutes. I knocked on a door of guy that lives right around the corner and ask permission to cut through his yard to get to the pond. He said yes and thanked me for asking. That being said, I was getting skunked today until I tried to pitch to spot right next to a very small tree that was about 2 feet from the bank. My line draped over one of the lower small branches of it about a foot off the water my Ol' Monster made it into the water and almost immediately this pound and a halfer hit it hard. My first oops bass...lol! So happy that the 2 ponds in my neighborhood are within a 15 minute walk from home. I'm really gonna be a fishing fool now...lol! ?
  20. Howdy and welcome aboard Bobby!
  21. There's one like that in a fairly small pond not far from my house. Planning on going there in a couple hours and hopefully catching it. Nice catch by the way!
