  1. Went to the Red River behind Lake Buhlow around 6:30ish this evening. Tried out my new Strike King 7/16oz midnight special spinnerbait. Took a few casts and this about a pounder or so hit it right by the boat dock I was casting from. Second spinnerbait bass and first river bass. Nothing else bit and they were about to close up the recreation area we were in. Tried a little in Buhlow but nothing doing. Unless we're getting slammed by Harvey tomorrow, I'm going back to the Red River to see if I can catch some more. Hopefully a big un!
  2. Got me a Strike King 7/16oz midnight special spinnerbait and a Z-Man 3/8oz chatter bait black and blue today at Wally World. I've never owned a chatter bait. Hoping to get to try it out soon.
  3. And it ain't over yet! ?
  4. That's awesome! Glad you're back in the swing of things. Fortunately I've never had to endure something like that(knock on wood). Although I think I'm developing fishing elbow, if there's a such thing...lol.
  5. Howdy and welcome aboard!

  7. Sucks you lost a couple tackle boxes and a rod got broke. At least you didn't get broke, that's the main thing. Glad you're ok. Don't know if it was a big mistake though. Just a learning experience. Next time you'll be better prepared in the event that situation happens again. I know you were just kidding and all, but I'll see what I can do to send you a lure. Want be much really. I have a couple 1/2oz Strike King Red Eye Shad baits brand new never been used. I can send you one if you want. They're not in the package anymore, but I'm sure I could find a plastic case at work to put it in. I work for Bill Lewis Outdoors/Lures Rat-L-Trap. If there's a specific one of those you would like, let me know. I'll do my best to get it to you. Just wanna help if I can.
  8. I only have an Android for all of my online stuff. I have the Image Shrink Lite app. It's free and if my regular pics are too big to share here or anywhere all I have to do is go to my gallery, choose the pic I want to share and share it to the app and I can condense the file quickly and then share it where I want. I like it, it's real easy to use.
  9. Photobucket, is that an app for a smartphone or something only for pc's or mac?
  10. Can't view the pic. All I see is this. Would like to see it though.
  11. Never really thought about it like that. I'll have to try finessing it next time instead of slowly reeling it in to keep from getting snagged on the bottom. Also gonna start fishing them in some matted grass areas. Not too thick though at least until I can afford a medium heavy rod.
  12. Never heard of the swinging swim jig. I'll have to check em out. I'm guessing they're only available online. Being able to Texas rig a trailer on the swinging hook really intrigues me.
  13. Howdy and welcome aboard! Thank you for your service and God Bless you!
  14. We didn't get totality here, pretty close though. Boss man let us go outside and check it out for about 15 mins or so. Got to see it through those specialized eclipse glasses. It was very cool. A crescent sun is what we saw here in Central Louisiana.
  15. Well the Ol' Monster bite has officially stopped for now anyways. Been trying some of my different lures/baits to see if I can find what they really want. Got some bites here and there, but nothing committed to them except for a 3/8oz bluegill Arkie jig with about a 3" piece of a watermelon red black Strike King Shim E Stick for a trailer. I just cast it out there and kinda slowly reeled it in because there's too much along the bottom to get snagged on. It seemed to work, a little anyways. Thought I was gonna catch my first jig bass, Saturday evening, got it almost to the bank and it come off. Man I was so disappointed. Kept trying it and nothing. It was like that Sunday too. Nothing committing to anything I was throwing. I must've used every bait/lure I have or almost every one. This evening went to the smaller pond by the house hoping since I haven't been there in a few days I could catch something. Was getting skunked again and finally tied on my 1/4oz(might be 1/8oz can't remember) Strike King mini spinnerbait black and blue. Just before dark I actually caught something again. It ain't really anything to brag about other than it's my first ever spinnerbait bass. Thank you little fella for breaking it in. Now I guess I'm gonna keep throwing that mini spin or my other spinnerbait (gotta put it back in the rotation box) and my jigs to see how I do with those. Gotta learn something else when the Texas rigged worms/craws/sweet beavers/stick baits, hollow body frog etc ain't working.
  16. LMBO!!! That's frickin' hilarious!!! ??
  17. Awesomeness! Congratulations! Great catch!
  18. Heckuva great day for you! Right on! I wouldn't know how to act if I caught that many bass in a day. For that matter, if I caught that many in a couple days or so. Wow! Great job! Congrats on a new PB!
  19. It did suck pretty hard today for me too. Didn't catch a thing. Glad you caught a couple good ones though. Oh well it's part of fishing. Going to Lake Buhlow in the morning. Gonna give the pond a slight rest...lol. Of course if it starts getting too hot out there with the limited shade, I'll be back under my tree at the pond.
  20. Howdy and welcome aboard!
  21. Had a kinda similar day today. I was using my confidence bait the Ol' Monster, getting bites but nothing committing. Got hung up a few times. Didn't lose any lures though. I finally switched to a 3/8oz Arkie jig and got my first ever bite on a skirted jig. Set the hook and got it almost to the bank and it come off the hook. The only thing that committed today. Guess I'm gonna have to get me a medium heavy fast action spinning rod because I don't think my medium fast one was stout enough to set that heavier hook those jigs have properly. Not really sure though. After that I couldn't buy a bite, not even switching back to my confidence bait. So I just went on home. Do they make a lighter wire hook on jigs like that? Never used Trokar hooks, but I do like me some Gammy's. Another brand are Academy's H2O Express Heavy wire EWGs. They are lighter wire than the super locks and in my opinion just as good as Gammy's and alot cheaper. My hook up ratio is equally great with both brands.
  22. You got that right. I love the overcast but all the rain kinda sucks, unless it rains while I'm at work. Then it cools it off in the warehouse I work in. I'll fish in the rain as long as it's not too heavy and no lightning.
  23. Howdy and welcome aboard!
  24. Lots of good tips and/or tricks listed above. Only thing I can add is go fishing as often as you can, can't learn if you don't put in the time. Try some Zoom Ol' Monster 10.5" worms, they work great for me and possibly for you too. Catch and release unless you plan on cleaning and eating the fish. Have fun and have a great day!
