  1. @Angealy thank you sir! Baitcaster strikes again! My girlfriend and I went to Valentine Lake for almost 2 hours and not even a bite. Very disappointing. So we left and stopped at Sonic to get a shake and headed to Buhlow Lake. Wasn't much happening there and it was a little too hot for my girlfriend but I noticed a spot that I like to fish from had become vacant. So we drove down to it and my girlfriend stayed in the car in the shade. Even though the spot I was going to was fairly shaded too, she didn't feel like walking over to it from the road. I told her I wouldn't be long unless some bass catching was going on. I only took my baitcaster with me with the white chatter bait/sprayed grass sweet beaver trailer tied on. No tackle bag or anything else. About my fifth or sixth cast got a hold of this about a pound or so bass. Continued to cast a few more times to see if anything else was biting but the trailer didn't want to stay on. That happened earlier also after catching the little guy I posted a few hours ago. Sucks those things only last for one catch using as a trailer. Is there something I can do to keep the trailer put so as to stop this from happening? Anyways, third day learning a baitcaster I seem to have it dialed in pretty good for a 3/8oz chatter bait with a sweet beaver trailer, didn't have any backlashes or birdnests. That makes me happy and I caught two bass with it too! Still no big un but it was a great day regardless.
  2. Baitcaster is officially broke in, catching a bass with it that is! Haven't been to Valentine Lake yet today. Family things come up and delayed it for a bit. So I went to the smaller pond by my house only taking my Lew's spinning rod and my new Lew's baitcaster. 3/8oz white Z-Man chatter bait with a sprayed grass Reaction Innovations sweet beaver tied on to baitcaster and a 1/4oz black and blue Strike King swim jig with an black and blue Arkie crawfish jig trailer tied onto my spinning rod. I was alternating between the two to see what the bass wanted. No bites on the jig and got one bite on the chatter bait. So I tossed it out there more. Finally got a solid bite on it and brought in this little fella marking my first ever baitcaster bass. It looks like a turtle or something took a bite out of him down towards the tail. Not sure though. Kinda sucks all my firsts are little ones but at least I caught them. Been getting a lot of firsts here lately, thanks to this site and all you awesome folks on here. So glad I joined this site. Thanks a million everyone! ?
  3. Thanks for the advice. I believe I have it pretty well tuned in for my chatter bait. I went to the smaller pond by the house a little while ago and only got one little backlash that's because my lure caught hold of a tall weed as I casted. Took only a second or two to undo. Distance is good enough for me right now just the accuracy thing is a bit harder to get down. I'm not backing down though. I'm gonna learn how to use it as good or better than my spinning gear.
  4. Same here except I access via Android.
  5. Awesomeness! Congratulations on the PB!
  6. Total awesomeness! Congratulations on your new PB! Wow! You caught her from bank fishing at night. I only fish from the bank and I've been wanting to do some night fishing. Water moccasins detour me from staying very long after dark though. Anyways congrats again and great job!
  7. Well I'm starting to get the hang of my new Lew's American Hero baitcaster. Still have some getting used to considering I've never used or owned one before. Was hoping I'd have a bass pic to post catching it on it. Not today. However I do have a first to post. My girlfriend and I went to Buhlow Lake this evening and using my Lew's spinning rod and a 1/4oz black and blue Strike King swim jig with one of my new black and blue Arkie crawfish jig trailers I caught this little fella marking my first ever jig bass. One of these days I'm gonna be able to post a pic of a big un regardless of what I catch it on. Hoping tomorrow is that day as my girlfriend and I are going to Valentine Lake in Gardner, Louisiana. Gotta get some more practice in on my new baitcaster too. ?
  8. Lol...none yet. Still getting the hang of it. Got it to where the backlashing and birdnests are fairly minimal. I can actually get a decent distance with a cast, although I know that's not as important as accuracy. Still working on the accuracy part. I do remember to adjust the spool tensioner knob and the MCS when tying on different lures/baits though. So far I've used a chatter bait, pad crasher and a Rat-L-Trap. Not even a bite yet. Going to give it another shot in the morning though. I did have a first this evening, it was with my Lew's spinning rod. Fixing to go post it in the Latest Catch Pics section.
  9. Right on. Thanks again and have a great Labor Day Weekend!
  10. Awesomeness! Congratulations on a new PB and a nice bass!

  14. Yeah I was trippin' for a few when I had to sign in again because I have remember me checked. Was also confusing that I got an email after signing back in that a new device was used and this is the only device I've ever used on here. Anyways thanks for the heads up @Glenn. I like it so far. It will take a little getting used to and experimenting with it. I can handle it though. ?
  15. Howdy and welcome aboard! Thank you for your service! ?
  16. It was only a 3/8oz chatter bait. After between 5 and 10 birdnests, one I didn't think I was gonna untangle, I adjusted the brake some and casting got alot better. Still need to tweak it some more though.
  17. Thanks y'all! Got it spooled up and my new Z-Man chatter bait tied on. Time to go learn how to use it. Be back in a few. Hopefully with some pics of bass I caught with my new rod.
  18. We make Rat-L-Traps. I work at Bill Lewis Outdoors. My job is to spray eyes, dot eyes, paint and dip(top coat) the lures.
  19. Went to Wal Mart after work this afternoon. We got off early today being our Employee Appreciation Day. Last night I lost my only chatter bait(black and blue), so I replaced it today, also got me a white one and a bag of Arkie black and blue crawfish jig trailers. A 5 pack bag was only $1.22 so I figured I'd see how they do. Ha! I'm a poet and I didn't know it...lol! ?
  20. Thank you. Totally wasn't expecting this. Fixing to spool it up now. It ain't getting no earlier...lol.
  21. Today at work was our Employee Appreciation Day. We worked for 3.5 hrs and then boss man treated us to lunch at Brocato's in Alexandria, Louisiana. It was delish! After we ate boss man acknowledged each employee individually to recognize their efforts. To my surprise I was awarded Overall Top Employee of the year with a framed certificate and also my first ever baitcaster. A 6'10" MHF Lew's American Hero Speed Stick IM6 with a Lew's American Hero Speed Spool Laser AH1SHG 7.1:1 baitcasting reel. I was speechless, and still kinda am. Now it's time to spool it up and go fishing. An absolute great start for the Labor Day weekend! Thank You Lord! ?
  22. Now if he told you it wouldn't be a secret...lol. ?
  23. You might try some Zoom Ol' Monster 10.5" worms Texas rigged weightless and weedless. Also try a chatter bait or maybe a spinnerbait. Also if you've been fishing pretty fast slow it down a bit or even a lot. If you've been fishing real slow speed it up some or a lot. Just keep trying different things and let the fish tell you what they want. Something will work eventually.
  24. Totally agree. It's not right at all. May God be with all those in real need during this catastrophic storm and also with the ones that are getting them the help they need. Lord please keep them all safe.
