  1. Howdy Chris and welcome aboard! ?
  2. Nothing wrong with eating some bass. They are some very good eatin'! This summerlike weather we're having here in central Louisiana is for the birds. Had that kinda cool spell for a week or so when Harvey come through and did all that damage in Houston. Since then we've have temps in the low 90s during the day and high 70s at night and over night. Heck I got sunburned yesterday. I've never gotten sunburned in late September. Be glad when those high 70s low 80s are the daytime temps and 50s and 60s at night get here. I've gotten skunked everyday for the past week. I've almost forgotten what it feels like to catch one.
  3. Get your nipples pierced...lol. Had mine for over 20 years now. It really wasn't as painful as it sounds. Even got them done a year apart. The first one was like an initiation into a band I playing with at the time. They all had one and the peer pressure didn't help. So I did it. Wasn't bad and a year later got the other one done. Still have em to this day. I feel naked without them now...lol. ?
  4. Right on! Good job little man! Keep it up, soon you'll be catching bigger ones than your granddad. ?
  5. Yeah they're in a funk here in central Louisiana too. Went fishing at two different lakes today using my boss man's kayak. Only thing I caught was a sunburn. Can't ever remember getting sunburned in late September. It was 93 degrees here today. Soooooooo ready for some cooler weather and the fish bite to be back on.
  6. Got my Bubble Blade Fogys in the mail today from @Siebert Outdoors. Wow that's was pretty quick delivery. Fixing to tie one of them on and hit the pond in the boss man's kayak!
  7. That's absolutely, technically and genetically right. All I'm saying is regardless of blood or not, true family are the ones that stick together through thick and thin. Not the ones that say stuff like the only reason we're family is because of blood. Family takes care of each other. So what I said is right too. Blood don't make you family necessarily, it makes you related.
  8. You're absolutely right. Blood doesn't make you family. Loyalty, and don't forget honor and respect, makes you family. I have several brothers from other mothers as well as sisters from other misters that would do whatever they could in their power for me and I for them. Regardless of your rugged lifestyle, you've apparently been loyal to her, honorable to her and respected her. She in turn has honored and respected you with asking you to adopt her. She's already your family now. Don't need no paperwork or lengthy processes to say so. You feel it in your heart and so does she. That's all that matters. You are very blessed and I'm happy for you and her. I'll keep y'all in my prayers that everything works out for the best and that the tough times be limited and easily overcome. There's something really special brewing there and all you should do is cherish it and keep doing what you're doing, your best. Way to step up, that's total loyalty, honor and respect! Amen brother, Amen! ?
  9. I haven't used many regular jigs, although black and blue wit either a watermelon red flake SK Rage Tail Structure Bug or black sapphire Zoom Z Craw Jr as a trailer has worked when I've used them. I mainly use bladed jigs/chatter baits. Black and blue, white, and breaking bream have worked very well for me with either sprayed grass Sweet Beavers, Bait Fish Super Flukes or SK Rage Tail Structure Bugs for trailers. I don't fish any really clear water. Not much of that around close to where I live.
  10. Not really sure at the moment. Never bass fished in the fall before, but I'll definitely try the white jig and the black neon jig. Just might be a couple of the next things I order from Siebert Outdoors. ?
  11. I've got some Eagle Claw weedless 2/O bait holders. That's the closest thing I have to a straight shank round bend, more of an oval bend I guess...lol. Think I'll give them a try and see what happens.
  12. Went to Wally World today and picked up some junebug Zoom Trick Worms and some 3.75" green pumpkin Zoom Salty Super Tubes. Boss man let me barrow his kayak for the weekend and I'm going early in the morning. Gonna try to be on the water by first light. Finally gonna get to fish some new areas for a change.
  13. Picked up some junebug Zoom Trick Worms a little while ago. Don't think I have any 2/O straight shank round bends, I've got some in offset for sure. Would those work?
  14. Gotta get me some trick worms. What kind and size hook do you recommend?
  15. I've thought about trying a weightless C-rig before, but didn't know how much sense it made. After seeing this pic it makes a lot of sense, considering I know you know what you're doing. Think I'm gonna give it a shot. Is that a wacky rigged Swamp Crawler or just a finesse worm?
  16. I need to get me some more swim jigs. I have 1 it's only 1/4oz. I want some in 3/8oz and 1/2oz. The heavier weight is easier for me to cast with my baitcaster than the lighter weight stuff. I really need to get me another baitcaster to add to my arsenal. Can't afford that right now. Hopefully soon though.
  17. I hear ya. I've always got my knife and/or box blade with me so if it ever came to that I'd have to cut it off.
  18. Guess I shoulda named this topic "The many uses of braided fishing line" lol
  19. Ordered two 1/2oz Bubble Blade Fogies (bladed jigs) from @Siebert Outdoors today(Tuesday 9/19/17). 1 in June Bug color and 1 in Bluegill Flash color. Hope they get shipped tomorrow(9/20/17). Can't wait for them to get here! Will post pics when they arrive before I go fishing with them. ?
  20. I only fish from the shore, so I don't really know how it would effect the tackle I use. I suppose from a boat I would use the same things I use from shore, but add a few more things that I have not tried before. If I had a kayak it would definitely effect the way I fish the shoreline for the better. Harder to do that from the shore, in my opinion. I would also be able to fish areas I can't get to from the bank.
  21. Howdy and welcome aboard! ?
  22. I get the same thing at Wally World and Academy...lol. ??
  23. Almost got some of those Spike-It markers back when I bought the clear Garlic JJ's Magic, they were out of chartreuse. Was cheaper to get JJ's Magic than the markers, but I'll have to try those one of these days.
  24. Howdy Jim and welcome aboard! ?
  25. If I could afford to hire A-Jay, I'd be able to afford a kayak...lol. He's way up there in Michigan and I'm down here in central Louisiana. He is the Hawg Meister right now, though. If I had a kayak I would be able to get anywhere on any body of water pretty much. I'll get her eventually, I just know I will. ?
