  1. I use red bug colors in stained to murky water when junebug or junebug red aren't working.
  2. Howdy Jason and welcome aboard! ?
  3. Just being curious, but why do you wanna use mono if you have no issues with braid? I used mono for a little while when I first started bass fishing in late March of this year. Changed to braid about 3 months ago and won't use anything else. It's easier to tie knots with and it lasts a long long time.
  4. Howdy and welcome aboard! That's a big un there! Nice bass! ?
  5. Howdy and welcome aboard! ?
  6. Do you fan cast it or just cast in open water with fast retrieves or varying retrieves while WTD? Also what kind of conditions are the best for throwing the H2O out there? Overcast, wind, no wind, clear skies, cloudy, shaded areas, light rain or misting, etc.?
  7. Gotta practice more on my WTD technique. Although I did get it to do that a little bit this morning, just not enough to be truly effective. I'm guessing it's best to do that on the edge of cover, is that right? Not really familiar with the Lucky Craft Sammy.
  8. Howdy and welcome aboard! I was thinking somewhere around the 4lb range or so. Nice bass!
  9. Is walk the dog the only way to really fish it? I like the way the head of it just kinda bobs when it's sitting out there without retrieving it. Kinda like a turtle or snake head.
  10. Indeed it is. There's lots of good reading in the articles section of the menu. You can read about all kinds of stuff from baits/lures, techniques, rigging, equipment etc. Whatever questions you have, if the articles don't answer them or you can't find them in a search, feel free to make a post and ask. Would bet my life that someone in here can answer them for you.
  11. It's all good. I'm a newbie myself to bass fishing. About 6 months now. Lots of great folks and info on here to get you pointed in the right direction. Must be at my likes limit for a little while. Wouldn't let me like this comment for now. Heck you won't even be teased about catching dinks. I haven't been anyways. We're kinda like a family of bass anglers here. Amateur or pro or anywhere in between.
  12. Don't be shy. I ain't the prettiest thing to look at either. Lots of good folks in here. Nobody's gonna tease on how you look.
  13. Howdy and welcome aboard! I was wondering about the blacked out face too. Nice bass! If I had to guess a weight from the photo, I'd have to say somewhere between 5-7lbs.
  14. I tried the H2O model in the low light of this morning. Was able to get it to walk some, but nothing was really moving on the surface other than maybe some insects. Nothing seemed to be feeding on the surface. Tried some other things and finally caught a major dink on a SK KVD Perfect Plastics watermelon red flake Rodent Texas rigged weightless on a 3/O H2O Express Super Lock EWG offset hook. I actually used my new electronic scale just to see if it worked. That little sucker weighed a whopping 88 grams...lol. At least I know it works. ?
  15. Anyone ever heard of a Badonk-a-donk Bomber or an H2O Express Model TWS? My boss man gave both of those to me. Neither of them state the weight, but if I had to guess, I'd say the Badonk-a-donk Bomber is 1/2oz, looks heavier than that but doesn't feel like it. It's also a clear body with white on the back and belly I think too and has a red head and two salt water treble hooks. I can change those out if necessary. The H2O Express Model TWS is maybe 3/8oz possibly less and it's black with a white zombie pattern on it also has two treble hooks. I've never fished these style baits and I'm assuming they are similar to a Spook kinda. How would you or how do you fish them?
  16. That SK Rage Bug looks exactly like the ones I have. It's watermelon red flake, right? No smallies down here that I've found yet, but those things work very well trailered on a chatter bait catching largemouth. ?
  17. I can relate. The waters I fish have very little visibility. Maybe a foot deep and about a foot or so out from the bank. The only time I have seen the bass and tried to cast to it, it either just looked at my bait like nope not today or just turned its nose up at it so to speak and swam away. Little to no sight fishing experience here or opportunity to do so.
  18. My hook sets are best when I don't see the fish also when it's at more of a distance. Those short distance strikes for some reason always get me. Guess it kinda catches me by surprise and instead of what I probably should do, swing for the fences, I usually give kind of a quick tug to one side or the other or a quick tug upward, depending whether I'm Texas or Carolina rigging or fishing a jig or chatter bait or whatever else really. Gotta get passed the excitement of the short distance strikes.
  19. Went to ole Wally World again today and picked up a new electronic scale. I've been needing a new one for a little while now so I got an Ozark Trail that'll weigh em up to 50lbs. Like I'm gonna catch a bass that big...lol. Also picked up an Arkie 3/8oz Missouri Craw jig and some SK KVD Perfect Plastics 4" watermelon red flake Rodents with the coffee and salt scent. Hoping to still get out tonight and try em out. I can wait til tomorrow if I absolutely have to though...lol. ?
  20. Didn't exactly catch a gang of bass during any outing or all of my outings put together for that matter. Didn't do super bad either. When I did start catching on regular outings, I'd have to say that a Zoom 10.5" Ol' Monster junebug red or red bug color on a 6'6" MF Lew's Carbon Speed Stick IM7 6.2:1 SSG300 Lew's Speed Spin reel with 50lb Power Pro Spectra braid and 5/O H2O Express heavy wire EWG offset hooks, Z-Man original chatter baits 3/8oz white or black and blue with Reaction Innovations sprayed grass sweet beavers or Zoom bait fish Salty Super Flukes as trailers and Z-Man Project Z chatter bait 1/2oz breaking bream with SK Rage Tail Structure Bugs watermelon red flake as trailer on a 6'10" MHF Lew's American Hero Speed Stick IM6 7.1:1 Lew's American Hero Laser AH1SHG Speed Spool reel with 40lb Sufix 832 with Gore performance braid. Here lately those have slowed big time. Now I'm searching for a new and hopefully even better pattern. You're right about that. Most of the time, not quite all the time pretty close though, a plastic worm of any kind just about will at least get you bit if not hauling in a few. That suites me just fine too...lol. ?
  21. Yes sir! Most definitely! Not giving up, just going back to the drawing board so to speak. Started out getting bass on slower presentations then that slacked off and started getting em with faster ones. Now that has slacked off too. Just gonna have to try new things I haven't tried before or ones I haven't given enough chance. I'm thinking I've pressured this pond pretty good by myself. I've seen other people there too, just not as often as I'm there. Unless they are there at the times I'm not. This is a Google map shot of the smaller pond. The majority of it is bank accessible with the exception of most of the tree area at the top right corner down to where there is a wooden fence on the right. You may be able to see it. It extends about 2' or so into the pond, from there up to the trees isn't accessible for me, but everything else is. How would you fish it @Catt?
  22. I've got some Gammies. The problem was mainly hook sets with the chatter baits(Z-Man). Either I didn't give enough time for her to really get it in her mouth good or just didn't have enough power in my swing for the homerun. I've got 2 new chatter baits from Siebert Outdoors now. Haven't had any luck yet with them or the Z-Man ones for that matter as the fast paced bite has not been on around here lately. This summerlike weather we've been having has slowed them back down. Possibly even more so than actual summer did. I did finally catch a couple dinks this evening and one last evening. The one last evening was with a Texas rigged junebug Zoom Trick Worm and two this evening was with a wacky rigged green pumpkin chartreuse tail 5" Yum Dinger on a 3/O H2O Express Super Lock EWG offset hook. Just ready for some cooler weather and some more active big uns. At least I got my hook set kinda back anyways.
  23. Good stuff! Thanks @Glenn I'll be looking for that Hank Parker signature spinnerbait! ?
  24. Howdy and welcome aboard! ?
