  1. In stained water you should try some black and blue, junebug, purple really just about any darker color worms, chatterbaits, spinners etc. They will show up better to the bass in that type of water as a silhouette. I like to use a pumping action with my chatterbaits on the retrieve. It gives them a bit more action. However with it getting colder now this time of year you could cast out your chatterbait let it sink to the depth you wanna fish and drag it a couple feet, reel up the slack while moving your rod tip back towards the bait and then repeat. On that pause while you reel up the slack, the chatterbait will sink down appearing as a dying baitfish of some kind and may just get hammered by a nice big ole bass. It has worked for me and it can work for you. Vary your retrieve speeds until you get bit. ?
  2. I know right! They finally had an amazing deal that fell on a payday for a change. I've missed out on some really sweet deals because they happened when it was between paydays or I had more important things I needed to take care of. This time it didn't happen that way. ?
  3. I've been wanting to get me a higher end rod in the $100 range. Well today I scored big time! It's not necessarily the rod I wanted in that price range, but I couldn't pass up this steal of a deal. I bought a 7' Daiwa Tatula XT MF baitcasting rod originally $99.99 our price at Academy. It went clearance priced Wednesday for $24.98. They let me hold it til payday today and with my discount I got it for $21.79 tax and all. I'm sooooo happy! Can't wait to try it out. It feels like most MHF rods I've used on the lower end. It's gonna be the perfect rod for crankbaits, topwater treble hook baits and my favorite chatterbaits. For now I've put my Lew's Laser TXS Speed Spool 7.1:1 reel on it. However I have plans to eventually get the Lew's SSG1SH 7.5:1 reel for it. It's $99.99 and hoping we have a good sale on them again soon. ?
  4. A pack of 6" Zoom lizards has been pretty effective for me this year. They come 9 in a pack for only $2.19 plus tax at Academy. The original Z Man chatterbait also very effective. They're only $4-$5 at Academy as well. ?
  5. Lol...right! What's the point of them having a boat if they never make time to use it? If I had a boat I'd be using it every day or dang near. ?
  6. I have a couple buddies that have one, just getting them to ever go fishing is like pulling teeth. They always seem to have better things to do in their spare time. I can't think of much that's better than fishing in my spare time. ?

  12. Yeah I've been wanting to get a kayak for a while now. Just haven't had the extra cash to get one thus far. Hoping to be able to get one by the time the prespawn and/or the spawn get here again next year. Not very promising it'll happen before then unfortunately. ?
  13. For the past few weeks I've only managed to get out about 5 times to do any fishing. Got skunked 4 of those times. Not even a bite! Ugh! Today was a bit chilly with all the rain we've had lately and a cold front moving in. It was misting rain almost the whole time I was there, which was about 3 hours. Within my first 10 casts I got snagged with my new Jackhammer style junebug chatterbait, that I bought from @Bluebasser86, and broke off. It's gone! I was pretty upset at first, but the good Lord calmed me down. I switched between a few different baits and finally this nonscorable bass tap tapped my 3/16thoz bullet weighted 6" sapphire blue lizard and I skied him across the water back to me. Got a couple more bites, but nothing committing. I lost an awesome bait today and didn't catch anything worth bragging about, but I didn't get skunked again. So that made the day better. There's hardly any accessible bank to fish at Caney Lakes upper side now and they're being funny about me fishing off the boat dock. I could understand it better if there was anybody trying to launch a boat and I was in their way, but there's nobody else there but me when they make a fuss about it. I believe if I have to pay even just the $3 it costs to be in there to fish, then I should be able to fish from that dock when nobody else is there or they should clear out more bank area for us nonboater fisherman or build a fishing pier on this side. I was at a free spot today and it doesn't have very much access either and the dink I caught was the first fish I've ever caught there. Gonna have to find a different spot to start fishing I guess. ?
  14. You'd have to ask @Bluebasser86 about that. He made them. Excellent job I might add too! ?
  15. Been pretty busy lately at work and haven't been able to do much fishing. However I have been feeding the bait monkey...lol. In the past couple weeks I bought a bag of Zoom sapphire blue Z Craws and 6" lizards, a bag of Gene Larews sapphire blue Wheeler's Hammers, a bag of BPS sapphire blue river bugs, swimming elite chunks and black sapphire chunks, a new, smaller tackle bag H2O Express to condense down what I beat the banks with, a pack of Z Man bad shad and the deal Razor Shadz, a Strike King neon bluegill and a natural shad 1.5 squarebill cranbaits (3' to 5' diving) and a blue craw Red Eye Shad and today I got my 1/2oz sapphire blue and junebug Jackhammer style chatterbaits I ordered from @Bluebasser86. Looking forward to trying all this out, especially the Jackhammer style chatterbaits. Very nice workmanship and quality. Thanks a million Clayton, I'm very appreciative for what you made for me. ?

  24. The catches actually did get bigger as it got darker out, with the exception of the very last one I hooked into that come off and skittered across the dock back into the water. It was probably a little over a pound. Thanks, indeed it was a nice night of fishing! ?
