  1. I really have not found any good places for fly fishing from the banks in Palm Beach. Just the canals. Most places does not have any room for the back cast or it has a walking\bike trail within 10-20ft of the shore line. If you just want to have some fun and don't care much about the size, try Twenty Mile Bend off of 98 (Southern Blvd - west). Its a few miles past Lion Safari. Shoreline access is limited to about two spots but there is room for fly casting. Tie on a steel tippet and have fun with the bowfins and Pickerels. Can cast from the boat ramps (if no-one is there) and a little further down off of the levee. Beware of gators and don't stick your hand in the water. In the summer months, a lot of nuessence gators there. I've done ok with the bass fishing there also.
  2. I didn't have access to light rods or fly rods. Also no boat. Can you wade the rivers that are close or good shoreline access? The ones I know of are about 1-2 hrs south. I'm getting some cheap light setups and will just keep up there for when I visit. Mostly looking for something close that I can run out to for a few hours either in the morning or evening. Also, my previous post had errors. Should have said Whetstone Creek wildlife area in Williamsville.
  3. Thanks. I found Reifsnider. Looked good but didnt fish it. We did find Whetriver Conservation area in Williamsvile with several lakes and ponds with one very large lake. I did get a few small bass from the there. Will be back up late summer and will check out some of the other areas as well. Thanks!
  4. Will be visiting MO soon around the Warrenton\Jonesburge MO area. Looking to see if there are any lakes close by that I can go to for a few hours early morning or evening. Not interested in St Louis urban lakes. I am familiar with Cuvier River and Bush Wildlife, just wasn't sure if there are any others. Any info on Eagle Lake reservoir in Montgomery county? Thanks
  5. If you want to catch a Peacock just to catch one regarldess of size, there is a small lake at Polussa park in DelRay. Can walk the whole thing in a short period of time and fish from the shoreline. There are Peacocks but small ones - 1lb or so.
  6. In Pompano (next to Ft Lauderdale) around the Hillsborough canal, can get some SnakeHeads. Can be found in some lakes in some the parks also.
  7. Thanks. Haven’t tried industrial. Commercial is mostly no even if I do buy stuff. They say parking is premium. Spent many hours on Google Earth. How I found the places I go to now. But they are all under development now. I still have one place left! Today, I seen heavy machinery out on the north west TP dredging it out (between Boyton and Lake Worth). Have to find where the fish are moving to. It was convienent since it was 10min from my house. Nice to blow off an hour or so playing around. Spend a lot of time at Osborne since it shoreline friendly. Just looking for more places, kind of tired of the same place all the time. May just have to bite the bullet and get a kayak or small boat for the glades. But requires a new car also.
  8. That’s towards the end of the dry season here. Beware of water levels and any smoke from fires if any. Can cause low visibility dpneing on where you go. Lot of submerged sand bars that changes throughout the year and in low water, you could hit them. Just take it easy if this is your first time out there. im from St Louis originally. Fishing is so much better here for lakes! A nice fish in the St Louis area is considered an average fish here. Have fun.
  9. Any good canals in West Palm Beach area with shoreline fishing access? I had a great place on the south west corner of the Turnpike and Lake Worth Rd, but it’s been replaced with new development. My access is gone now, like a few other areas I knew about. Wish Palm Beach would make canals of certain sizes or larger with public access on the easement and service roads. Make mini parks or walking and biking trails out of them. Developers put up privacy walls along these areas but then gates and/or no trespassing signs goes up along the canals. A lot of places in Ft Lauderdale, sunrise, Davie, etc, all make parks out of them. Wish Palm Beach would also. So much water in S Florida with so very little access to any of it. You would have to row for Many miles if you try to get to some of these areas by kayak. Several other areas you could pull off the road and fish or walk it. But as traffic has increased, guard rails goes up followed by no parking signs.
  10. I stopped off at a few locations between Boyton and Lantana Rd. So far, nothing. Did some top water frogs, spinners, and spoons. Next trip out will be some rapellas and plastics. I seen a few fish swim by but it was all Gar. I did find one person who was familiar with the area and they said the only bass they ever caught has been small dinks and not a lot. No snakeheads has been found either. Surprised there isnt more fish in there since many of the connecting canals goes to the canals along the Turnpike and some run all the way into Lake Osborne and Lake Ida. Spent some time on Google Earth following all the tributary canals and where to get in them. Access is very limited. Also, this is part of the LWDD (Lake Worth Drainage District), so info and maps are not widely available as other canal systems in S Fla. I ended up talking with someone at FWC about this area.
  11. Does anyone know about the E1 Canal that runs along 441/SR7 from Boca area up past Okeechobee Blvd? I cant find any info on it and all the years I drove that stretch, I never seen anyone fishing. There are several small offshoots from it also. Cant see on a map if it connects to any other water system or not. Its very close to my house and it has easy access off the road. Be a great place to just kill 20min or so. Maybe I will just chance it and try it one night.
