Another option would be buying components and assembling them yourself from Barlow's, Jann's, Lurepartsonline etc. Minimal investment and you can tweak any way you like.
I'm looking for some advice on how to catch these species, preferably with the same bait and location. I fish in natural lakes where there are lots of carp and channel cats. I'm thinking corn or hot dogs would catch both?
Also, where do you start looking for channel cats in lakes? Dropoffs, flats, points??
Kastking Assassin with a shallow spool. I think i got mine off Alibaba or something similar. I have it on a glass cranking rod for small crankbaits. Haven't used it a whole lot but seems to be ok.
I was out Saturday on a small lake in northern Indiana. It was kinda tough but managed a few smaller ones. Bladebaits and Ned rigs mostly. Water temp was 51-52.
I've tried Vanish, after checking other reviews I saw I wasn't the only one. So I decided to go with a better quality, the Sniper FC and had the same results. Line breaking 15-20 yds from the crankbait and also a few knot issues which were likely my fault.
I just spooled up some 10 and 12# the other night and haven't used it yet. I did try to test the stretch on the 12#. It had roughly the same amount as Sunline Sniper FC 12#. It had about 50% the stretch of Big Game 12#. I've got my fingers crossed that it'll work on my crankin' rod. (me & fluorocarbon don't get along)
Im kinda new at bass fishing too and I have this same problem. However I now throw a Ned rig when I think there should be fish where Im at. If I don't get bit I'll move on. The ned rig will also catch other species so I know what the fish are that im marking.
