  1. Well I got tired of trying to decide so I did something stupid and spent the extra money got the Helix 12 G3N.
  2. I can get either a Helix 12 SI Mega G2N or Helix 10 SI Mega+ G3N for the console of my boat for the same price. Is the Mega+ that much better than Mega? Is 10” enough at the console, Or should I stick with the bigger display?
  3. Bought a Humminbird Helix 12 SI GPS G2N and earned $500 in bonus bucks with the Triple Crown promotion... was needing a new unit so it was worth it
  4. I made a small edit for you since the rest the paragraph contradicted the original statement Motions if pushing your arms in front of your body or “punching” actions activate the serratus. Heavy (punching) bag work will have your serratus good and sore in no time.
  5. Just curious if there are any updates. Spring is right around the corner and some places need 4-6 week’s lead time on cleaning and supertuning depending on how many reels.
  6. This is a great idea for a thread. At $25-$45 a pop for reel cleaning services it can get expensive sending reels off for quality cleaning and supertuning. can you add the cost of all of those items you listed above?
  7. This is it! I was trying to come up with my own description for what I feel makes a rod sensitive and this description nails it. Its about DIFFERENTATING bites from bottom and bottom from bites.
  8. Hopefully this thread will disappear...
  9. What did it cost you to do it last time? When you “didn’t do it right.”
  10. if I would have seen that boat when I was looking I definitely would have seriously considered it. Hope it checks out in good condition for you. If it doesn’t though, don’t be afraid to walk away. Deals that seem too good to be true often are. Keep us updated. What state is that boat located?
  11. Might be able to sell your MK330D and upgrade to an MK Precision Charger. The Precision chargers are capable and frequently used to charge lithium batteries when on the ‘AGM’ setting.
  12. Nope. Dobyns rods run on the lighter side and tend to feel more "whippy" than other similarly rated rods. If anything that Dobyns may be a bit underpowered the medium cranks.
  13. Do fish a lot of water greater than 15ft deep? If not a lure retriever pole is in my opinion the best option.
  14. Do you use the feel of the pedal to drive the boat/trolling motor? The Ultrex is currently the only unit that gives any feedback in the pedal for turning. The others are essentially buttons that turn based on time held vs. pressure.
  15. I like to use a flat sided crankbait on rip-rap and brush when the water is between 40-50 degrees. I don't have as much luck trying to get a lipless to bounce off of rocks and come through brush as well as a flat side with a bill.
  16. They have changed the black magic color. The originals had green on the bottom and were amazing for dirty/stained water. Personally, I was disappointed in the new color being solid black... The fish probably won't care.
  17. The MK 330D digital charger SHOULD NOT be used with lithium batteries. The only case where it would be safe for you and for the batteries would be if you were to manually shut off the charger immediately when the battery is fully charged.
  18. I have done a ton of research on the R70/R71 Ranger boats and just recently purchased a 1996 R70. They are a great hull and fish two people very comfortably. $6200 is an EXCELLENT price if it is in decent condition. The Mercury 125 ELPTO is a great motor that is a gas sipper because it runs two cylinders at low RPM and jumps up to 4 at higher RPM pushing the R70/71 up to around 45-50 mph. The biggest 'complaint' people seem to have about the R70/71 hull is that the rod lockers only hold rods up to 7'4". They are absolutely a great entry level boat. Even though it is a 17' boat most people comment that it fishes like a bigger boat. They are a very affordable option. Furthermore it will fit in most garages and you can pull it with a mid-sized SUV or compact pickup if necessary. Insurance should run you about $200-$350 per year depending on your provider and coverage. ABSOLUTELY get it checked over by a certified dealer/mechanic and expect to pay roughly $100 for a good inspection. That model of boat is in my opinion the best in that size and price range. GO FOR IT! Good luck
  19. I made a small edit for you
  20. Is your charger a “Precision” or “Digital”? The Precision chargers will work the same as with other batteries on the AGM setting but the Digital chargers will need to be unplugged once the battery is full. Do not trickle charge a lithium battery.
  21. =>Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Glad to hear you're not giving up the good fight. I recently purchased an R70 (same boat as the R72 without the dual console). The R72 boat performs well being a 17' boat. Most people say it fishes two people comfortably. The biggest complaint people have about the R72 is that the rod lockers can't fit rods bigger than 6'6". The R-series hull is a strong Ranger hull and handles water conditions well for its size. The Intruder is a good motor and will move that boat probably in the lower 40-mph range. The boat is rated for up to a 130 horsepower motor. In the condition you describe that boat is probably worth about $6-8k, probably toward the higher end of that.
