  1. Best value = Duracell 31 AGM from Sam’s Clib Best battery = X2 31 from batteries plus
  2. Braid as mainline for bottom contact techniques. I’ve read and read that it’s more sensitive and it’s the way to go, but after trying it for a year I have not found that to be true. I can feel way more with straight 20-lb Tatsu than I can with braid plus a 10-12 ft Tatsu leader.
  3. Got some rain last night and wind today and the ice is gone! How many “ice outs” will we get this year? Haha
  4. ‘05 Crew Cab Colorado with a topper I keep one two-piece spinning reel under the backseat and a small Academy bag that holds 4 3600 boxes in the bed.
  5. It has been my goal to take my time and use only quality parts for making this boat into what I want. It has been extremely rewarding and I have really enjoyed the process. Next up on the docket is adding hydraulic steering. Took me all day on the day before Christmas Eve but, with some help I finally had to engineer a tool to get the steering wheel off. I tried every gear and steering wheel puller I could loan from O’Reilly to get the steering wheel hub removed with no success. Luckily, I have a friend who is a bass boat wizard who helped me fab up the perfect puller and that baby popped right off. I hope to get the hydraulic steering operational before the New Year. I ended up getting the Protech system from Cabela’s because I had a bunch of CLUB points to spend.
  6. I made a small edit to your comment. A limit of 18 inchers can usually get you in the money in about any tournament on about any lake.
  7. The bait monkey only has one answer to questions of these sorts.... m0Ar BaItZ!
  8. Spot lock TM all the way. No question... well unless you are doing mostly shallow river fishing.
  9. Don't ever take this for granted! Nice boat! With the mild winter that seems to be occurring in your parts, you might not even have to wait to put some fish in it.
  10. Caught thousands of bass with them. Spent the first 10 years of my fishing experience throw them almost exclusively.
  11. Caught this chunker around 2:30 PM on Christmas Day on a wind blown dam with a jerkbait.
  12. Look like good practice for painting.
  13. If it’s your primary fishing rig then, the yes. If it’s a rig you use occasionally to get on waters you can’t take a boat then maybe not.If it’s a rig you use occasionally to get on waters you can’t take a boat then maybe not.
  14. Buy some live bait or fish food of sorts. Give them a healthy amount every time you catch them on a lure. Just like training a dog. Haha
  15. Might be moving to Denver in July. What can I expect around the Denver area? Not gonna have a lot of time to travel much (maybe 1-2 hours at best) more than a couple times per year. Should I sell my boat and most of my gear and just keep the essentials for bank fishing and start thinking about trout?
  16. Old Town Topwater 106 PDL. Small enough to get a rack for your car
  17. The Dobyns 795 will do a fine job in that range.
  18. You can get into a nice pedal drive kayak for that budget.
  19. There are a couple of small lakes with nearby housing developments here that I have caught several 20-21” fish out of that weighed 2.5 pounds or less. I suspect that a similar phenomenon is occurring considering the number of guys pounding the lake with Senkos all of the time. Different fish:
  20. I would also reckon they are not tailoring their fuel for outboard motors and thus may not have data for more than a vague answer.
  21. But I did so good resisting the bait monkey during the last sale...
  22. Spend a little time to find and save whole lot of money and buy a used one. No need to start with an aluminum boat, unless it fits your budget or water needs better. I went from a BassHound 10.2 (same as sundolphin) straight to my Ranger. If you're worried about the potential to put some learning curve wear on it then thats all the more reason to go used. Just got to do your homework. Z18 would be a good first boat. I'd make sure to get a keel guard on it ASAP. Ultrex will be a very useful addition. Electronics are nice too! Good batteries, but those can wait until the ones that are in it are done. A 5 gallon jug of Bass Boat Saver or some kind of equivalent and some rags to wipe the boat down after each use. Its just a good habit to get into, and if you start out doing it with everything needed its much easier to keep it up. Lots of people like a jack plate, a Hot Foot, and a blinker trim. Personally, I think those things come down to personal preference, but I think most people prefer them.
  23. Have you thought about being the one doing the renting?
