  1. Had some of the biggest bass I have ever seen come up and lick my KGB crappie at WyCo today. Once I finally figure out the cadence to make the fish eat, I think they had already had enough. Got a few nice ones in the boat. And more followers than I can count.
  2. Interesting, I’ve heard that both Helix and Solix models are going to be discontinued for different new model series.
  3. That’s what it seemed like. I just keep seeing more and more “out at Gardner today...” hahah
  4. Tough out at Gardner with the water temp dropping 6 or so degrees and having some color added to it due to the rain. Managed to put 4 in the boat and lost one more. Missed a few bites.
  5. Love it! Its not getting much use by me right now anyhow. Perhaps you could store the plastics in the boat? haha
  6. I have plenty of space in my garage for your extra plastics :)) Theres always the container store.
  7. PWC trailer will do the trick
  8. I knew/know exactly what you meant. Way more fishing than catching. It’s hard to quantify at minimum 10 times more fishing than catching.
  9. Catching fish on every 1 out of 10 casts would be a fantastic day!
  10. I’ve never heard of anyone ever having problems with either. Sounds like an imaginary problem with either that the contrarians like to debate. **edit** “to” was mistyped to “you” previously on accident.
  11. Seems like it’d be hard to drive a jig hook with a crankbait rod.
  12. Is the one on the left (black) the Mustang Elite?
  13. Multiple Dick’s employees at multiple locations in Nebraska told me they were no longer carrying fishing gear before COVID.
  14. Well I emailed Daiwa suggesting they make a bait cast reel with a quick release based on a spring mechanism. Who knows, maybe they’ll do it and it’ll win an ICast award next year and I’ll have my travel reel. ?
  15. I go for the opposite. Natural when clear and bright (or dark; black and blue) when the water is stained to muddy. The fish probably don’t care as much as we do.
  16. If weight is a concern, powerpoles. About half of the weight of Talons when you include brackets. Also, the powerpole can be half deployed when fishing with someone in the back to give them back the space. You can't do that with powerpoles. If wanting to hold in deeper water then Talons. Also, take up less space inside the boat and probably easier to install. Bottom line. Both will hold you well in up to ~6 ft of water. Since the Talons are made in up to 15' models you can likely be held well in up to 13' of water. I have powerpoles because I have a small boat and only run a 125 hp motor. Humminbird has also released that they are making their own version of the PowePole called the 'Raptor'. Not sure what that means for service support and future availability for the Talons. If I were buying a new boat with adequate power. It would be a tough decision. I would probably go for 8 ft power poles/Raptor and then use a trolling motor with spot lock to hold position in anything deep than 6'.
  17. I’m building a couple of setups to keep under the seat on my truck. I have two Daiwa Ardito rods and the travel case/tube. Looking for a compact bait cast reel that could possible fit in the travel case and can take a beating. Anyone ever hear of any baitcast reels with a quickly removable handle? Think how much space you could save if you could pop the handle off. Doesn’t have to be cheap, but also doesn’t need to be the best reel on the market.
  18. You may not have to take them off. On my older Ranger trailer there is a little plug that goes into the light housing that slides out on the inside of the trailer.
  19. You can get away with getting a large swiveling mount and putting it at the console. All you gotta do is swing it toward the bow whenever you go up to the trolling motor. To link 2 Helix units you only need two dongles and an Ethernet cable. If you want to add anything else to the network, you will need the Ethernet/network box.
  20. I bought some VMC split rings and used them to change out all the round bend trebles to short shank ewg. I wish I wouldn’t have, I have had about a dozen on them bend out. They weren’t cheap either!
  21. Tighten your drag all the way. Switch to braid.
  22. Any well taken care of Ranger, BassCat or Pheonix in that price range should not have any issues. There are no "model" issues with any of those boats that are 2005 or newer that I am aware of. Whats powering it is where you would be more likely to find something with issues. Stay away from the FICHT Evinrude motors, although, in that price range you probably won't be running into them. Take your time Get the BOAT you want - don't get distracted by electronics/trolling motors. Those things are easy to switch out and relatively cheap, but adding a foot to the boat, widening the deck, or changing the layout, not so easy.
  23. Second boat buckles. All stainless version.
  24. Sure it wouldn't be hard to make an insert for the Flex series that can fill half the box with the jig/bladed jig holders. I bet they come up with a lot of cool stuff in the future for those.
  25. Ask @YoTone. I know at one point he was using one as a frog rod. I’ve never used mine for that purpose, so I don’t know. Seems like it would work though.
