  1. What frog are you using? make sure your drag is cinched down.
  2. They have some pretty good deals on NOCO chargers if you’re in the market.
  3. Steez I like my Daiwa. Can’t bring myself to spend the extra money on the Steez when the Tatula are so good… but I do want to try
  4. My favorite rod is an old super cheap Berkeley and I have several very high end rods (Daiwa Steez, Loomis NRX).
  5. The usually have a sale in the spring that coincides with the classic. They did have the spring sale already this year.
  6. Humminbird actually did release something, a video of LIVE in action that was disappointing. The initial video they posted did not seem to be even close to on par with the other brands. New videos have since been released and are not disappointing. Regarding the objectivity. 1. Greater range means little to me without detail. Compare 455 kHZ to MEGA kHz on side imaging. 2. The other brands also have 3 modes. 3. Yes the fact that it can integrate into existing HB gear is great, but in a vacuum doesn’t do much for me. 4. I don’t mind a black box if it generates a much superior image. Based on some of the new videos my excitement for LIVE has been reinvigorated.
  7. What reading? I see lots of people writing this but no good evidence to back it up. My suspicion is that HB technology is licensed from Oculus, a UK company, and not Garmin. I do not believe Garmin holds the only patent for live imaging. However, my suspicion is also unsubstantiated in that I have no evidence other than the transducers look similar between the new LIVE and the oculus unit. The more I look at it in landscape mode, I don’t feel quite as disappointed, but still not wowed how Humminbird wowed initially with Mega imaging.
  8. Finally imaging to prove it exists. A huge disappointment in imagin if you ask me, but it exists nonetheless
  9. I have had my best frogging success early in the morning near cover as you described. However, you can also catch them mid day around the thick stuff. I caught two today on my brief trip out doing just that.
  10. Interesting thought. Want to try it out and let us know?
  11. What color was the water? Pretty clear?
  12. I tried to get you to there with me before on a day there was supposed to be some rain.
  13. I’ve caught plenty of fish out there this year already. But I did enjoy watching some really big ones follow my bait when the water was clear last year.
  14. Was the water still muddy when you were out there?
  15. I did not install them but I have taken them off before to maintenance them and they do indeed get into the wire channels. Frankly, I do not like the retractable rod straps and would not put them on the boat again. The area where they clip sits up to high and I am constantly feeling it under my foot. I like the traditional one I have on the port side better.
  16. Not the original motor. It is a 2001 mercury 125 ELPTO 2 stroke. With regular maintenance it starts on the first turn of the key.
  17. No give. No weak spots. No structural support is removed.Works great!
  18. I have several Tatula SVs. One of them is a talker. It’s been greased and super tuned to the moon. Still noisy, but stills casts great and works great as a skipping reel.
  19. I know I’m not the first to the party, but I don’t think it’s in full swing yet. Got this guy on my second cast. Couldn’t tempt another on all morning. was also not expecting to be the only truck in the parking lot for over an hour.
  20. Shad were getting wild spawning on the banks on Wednesday. This one was particularly frisky.
  21. There are some clues that give the exact spot and lake away in the video.
  22. I like the Cabela’s Mean Eye both the original and the “Walleye Series”
  23. Twice I’ve cut off megabass jerkbaits, tied on a Cabela’s Mean Eye Jerkbait and caught a nice fish on the very next cast, one was over 6 and a half and the other was just under 5 and a half. I got them on clearance for $1.99 each. ?‍♂️
  24. I wouldn’t say 12-mile or 3-mile are very bank accessible. Green valley just down the road however is quite accessible and has very nice cabins on the water if they’re not already booked. If you go to green valley I suggest fishing by the spillway and casting out as far as you can in front of it. There is some rock and concrete down there that holds good fish. Also the bank by the campground that is just north of the small boat ramp that’s by the campground holds good fish. Finally, the backs of the coves near the drain tubes hold fish there.
