  1. Congrats on topping your personal best twice in one day!
  2. I will have to try it, I just found out their are no options for the 6.3 to be upgraded to a higher 7.x due to the size of the gear box. Until recently I had no reels faster than a 6.3, so I guess it will be fine.
  3. No, haven't tried it yet. Just going by what has been suggested.
  4. I picked up the steez today. My dealer gave me a deal I could not refuse. $250.00. He had it on the shelf to long and wanted to move it. i'm going to order new 7.X gears for it and a longer carbon handle with Megabass knobs.May even add a little bling to it!
  5. Thanks for the replies, At this point I am leaning to the Aldabaran or scorpion. I have several of the Daiwa sv reels and am thinking of mixing it up a little. I like Shimano as I stated out with the curado series. I have the new K as well as older reels.
  6. I am looking for reel recommendations for my GLOOMIS MBR 842 glx. it is the 2016 version. This rod will also see some duty as a drop shot combo. Do not have a set budget, so recommend what you think would be best regardless of price. It can be $100 or $500 as long as it would be good for this application. Gear ratio or line per inch recommendations would be great also.
  7. I use a cover to protect from the suns UV. Also helps with the dust. My Ranger has two covers, 1 the shipping cover and 2 the factory cover. I use the shipping cover during the summer and the factory cover during the winter.
  8. I went with the Diawa Zillion sv tw 6.3. After doing a lot of reading I came to the decision that the steez was a little to much and the tatua sv tw while suitable, was not the reel I was looking for. So I opted for what I thought would be a great work horse reel in the Diawa Zillion
  9. The Dobyns Champion series rods would offer all the sesitivity you could use with crank baits. And is well under you price. I have the Dobyns 764 CB RM witch is all graphite and the 736 cb glass witch is a composite . I really think the 764 would meet your needs and make you very happy.
  10. The Tatula sv tw is a very nice reel. You can get them for under $135 shipped on the big auction sites. I do not think their is another reel that comes close at this price, and some that cost double do not offer as much. I just picked up a Shimano Curado 200K and really like what this reel offers. Very smooth, feels great. But I have not fished it yet.
  11. The champion series of rods are a nice sensitive rod. I just bought the 736 cb glass, Very good balance. I have no experience with the other brand.
  12. I stick to G Loomis and Dobyns rods due to their great reputation on taking care of their customers. I have never had to use a warranty program, but it is nice to know it is there if needed. If a rod has problems,it should become apparent in the first year if fished at all. After that I have no problem paying a fee in a warranty program. If I am clumsy enough to break a rod through my own fault I do not expect the manufacture to eat it. I am grateful for any help that they will offer.
  13. I have a couple of the Tatula sv tw reels and they are nice, also have a couple of the Steez sv tw1016 reels and one of the new Curado 200k. And last but not least a Chronach mgl. The light weight of the steez would be lost on this rod and the Chronarch, while a nice reel is ugly with the dial on the side. The Tatula SV reels are nice. But just wondering if I am missing anything with the first 2 reels on my list. I have been on a gear buying frenzy the last 3 months. New rods, reels, and terminal tackle. Trying to get ready to hit it hard this spring.
  14. I picked up the Dobyns DC 736 cb Glass rod for throwing chatter baits and need a reel for it. I think I have it narrowed down to 3 reels. All in 6.X - 1 1. Diawa Steeze A 2. Diawa Zillion SV TW 3. Shimano Curado K Of these, witch would be your pick and why. Any other options you suggest are fine, but tell us why. Not just because I use it. Just know I am pretty set on one of these 3 unless a very convincing argument can be made for another reel. Thanks
  15. I have the Curado 200k coming from Cabela's also. I watched the same video a couple of days ago and was less than impressed.
  16. The big difference is that the Steez is a magnesium frame and the Zillion is an Aluminum alloy frame. Also the Steez has more bearings. The Zillion is also salt water approved I think, Some one will correct me if I am wrong. The TATULA sv tw is on ebay for $135.00 Takes about 4 days to receive, I just purchased 2.
  17. I keep my rods in rod racks in my shop in a room out of direct sun light.
  18. This will be a dedicated set up. I have never done any pitching before. So I have no knowledge on what I should be looking at equipment wise.
  19. Looking for suggestions on a pitching reel and gear ratio. Shimano or Diawa does not matter. Plus and minus of each brake system. Not to concerned with price. This will be going on a G Loomis MBR 844 GLX Thanks
  20. I have a couple and would compare them very close to the old GLX, which I have a few of. I will pick up a couple of the new GLX rods later in the year to see how they stack up to the old models.
  21. I went ahead and purchased the 2500S. Same size that I have but with the shallow spool. Thanks for the replies.
  22. Not what I asked and it is not a $200 dollar rod. I also am not paying $800 for it.
