I really like my 844 glx for chatterbaits as well as spinnerbaits and buzz bait. It is also suitable for fishing compact jigs. I fish it with braid. When the grass gets heavy I prefer to step up to a Doybns 836 glass.

I have a Chonarch on my mid depth crank rod and like it for that application. The Bantam is 1.1 oz heavier than the Curado 150 mgl. I generally limit my time on the water to around 6 hours so I am not to concerned with the little extra weight. I have a decent varity og reals, every thing from Diawa Steez , Zillion, Tatula, Curado 70's, Curado 200's, Curado 200 DSV, 300 DSV, Round Shimanos and lots of spinning reels. Stradic'sto Stellas's. I just want what will balance the rod and feel good in the hands and be appropirate for the rod. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thinking of pairing it up with a shimano Bantam. Don't have one and it intrigues me. It will be that or a curado 150 mgl. That rod was also in cosideration. Had the heavy version of it for 1/2 oz jigs but was not totaly satisfied with it.

I am leaning toward the Dobyn Champion Extreme do to the full cork handle.

I looked up the Falcon cara, it is a rod that I will take a little closer look at. I am still more interested in the Poison Adrena followed by the Dobyns Extreme. The poison Adrena does concern me with reports of breakage issues. Dobyns has a great warrantry system, but they tend to be a little less sensitive than the Adrena by reputation. I do have a couple of champion rods that I use for moveing baits. My main rods are Loomis MBR GLX's And a few Simano Conquest.

As stated in the title, I am looking for a new rod that can do duty as a pitching and light punching rod. 1/2 to 1.5 oz is the weight range to be used mostly at Clear lake in CA. I have a G Loomis IMX PRO 873 Caolina rig rod for my standard jig rod. Now I am looking to take advantage of the sales and pick a rod for fishing heavier cover. Have not done much if any of this type of fishing in the past. I have been looking at the Dobyns DX 746 and the Shimano Poison Adrena 7'6 X Heavy fast. They both have a 2 0z upper weight limit. Have never fished either. I usally go all in on my rods, but I am being a little conservative on this rod choice as I am not sure how much I will use it. Any one who has fished either of these rods your input is welcomed.

I use 832 in lime geeen onmy rods because my eye site has gone down hill in the last few years. I also like vicious no fade braid in hi vis yellow.

I have been using my Loomis glx843 for spinner baits for years and love it. I have no desire to experiment with other rods for that technique.

I have both of the reels you asked about. I use the DC for high air resistance baits and when the wind is up. The mgl is a great reel that I will use for just about anything that I want to tie on and any technique I feel like throwing. The only down side to the reel the I find for me is the small line capacity. And that is only if I have a couple of break offs.

I have both the Coquest 842 & 843 and 902 spinning. Go with the 842 or better the 902. You would hate the 843 for ned rigs and other fineness applications.

I have some top of the line gear. I don't get to fish a lot, but have a decent disposable income. I enjoy my limited amount of time I get to fish even more because of my gear. It doesn't make me a better fisherman. I suggest you buy what you can afford and enjoy it.

I use Tatsu in both 12 and 15 lbs. Have 1000 yd spools. I just use 40 lb Viscous no fade braid on the 903 at the moment.

I have both the 843 and 903 conquest rods. I like to use the 903 for moving baits and deep water presentations. It is my favorite for under spins as well as 3/8 oz chatter baits. 12 0r 15 lb flours work well. Braid is great if you like it.

Shimano Conquest, I already have all the high end BC reels from steeze to Metainiums.

I'm of the get one good rod for bottom contact as that is a feel rod. And pair it with a good reel with what is left of your budget. When you are ready for your next rod you can decide if you need the extra sensitivity. A crank rod doesn't need that and can be had for much less.

IMX Pro 843 is a good rod for senko's

I like to use the pencil on rocky bottoms as well as grass. Tear drop on soft bottoms as well as small gravel bottoms.

The 843 would work very well with the techniques you listed. Spinner baits and lighter swim jigs are great on the MBR. 3/8 oz. footballs are doable also.

I have a 2018 Tacoma trd 4x4 . I use it to tow a Ranger 198p. I travel a little over 100 mi each way to fish clear lake and have to go over a section of mountains with big uphill and down hills. I Do not even notice that I have my boat behind me. It does have electric brakes. The biggest downfall to my set up is I loose about 4 mpg

7 up and 3 down has never failed me.
