  1. I've been doing well with spinnerbaits and jigs. I was throwing a Zoom Fluke last week, I was cutting part of the tail off and inserted a willow blade tail spinner. I was surprised how good it worked, landed 7 fish in about 15 minutes.
  2. I think they have had those rods on clearance for a couple years.
  3. I use copolymer or mono, 12-15lb test. I've been using Izorline XXX Super Copolymer & Yo Zuri Hybrid for the past few years. I've never used Fluro on any of my reels to tell you the truth.
  4. I always laugh at my wife when I show her how much fishing tackle some people on the internet have in their boat/tackle room. Then she doesn't make a comment of what I own.. ?
  5. I mainly didn't realize I was low on line, so I just had to pickup a small spool for the time being. Normally I have a couple bulk spools around, obviously I didn't remember to order line last fall sale. I mainly use Copolymer line on my rods except for my one frog setup.
  6. Major difference were the Fuji guides and the graphics on the newer Champion XP rods. Here is a picture of different Dobyns Champion(older) & Champion XP(newer)
  7. I would take a Dobyns Champion XP 734 w/ Daiwa Tatula SV 7:3:1, with that said all my rods/reels I own were purchase at 30-50% sale/discount prices.
  8. Daiwa Tatula SV CS Red Spider, import model.
  9. Ready to head out Monday morning, I'm fishing all week.
  10. Don't forget they have the Z-Man Crosseyez Chatterbait if you are concerned fishing around heavy cover/laydowns/snags. Which is probably a great choice for bank anglers.
  11. Here is a chart you might be able to verify what size you might need. https://www.fisherbeck.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Hook-Sizing_chart-Fly-Tying.pdf
  12. I like to watch some professional anglers, I like listening to them about simple changes/modifications to baits/lures. Sometimes there is good knowledge/technique that you never thought of that you can apply to your fishing success.
  13. I have the older models and I've been really happy with them.
  14. I just started using swim jigs about 2 years ago and now I always have on my rod. I catch larger fish on them in my experience of fishing them. It is a versatile/mainly snag free bait, you can fish it shallow/deep or swim it/jig it, change speed/action. I mainly use 3/8 oz with vertical line tie, I like Black/Blue, White/Shad, Green Pumpkin, Blue Gill colors. I've tried different brands/prices, I focus more on the hook quality/sharpness. I've used swim jigs $1-2 cheaper then others with better hooks, so I try to stay with a couple brands that I can depend and know what I'm getting. Soft Plastic's are unlimited in my opinion on swim jigs, if you can put in on a hook you can use it. I try all different plastics, different actions/movement. Also a note of advice it to hold on when a fat fish smashes your swim jig.
  15. I've been sealing my rods for years, for the low cost of the U40 cork sealer it is well worth it in my opinion.
  16. I even wipe down brand new rods with Magic Eraser first before I apply U40, you would be amazed how much loose cork dust there is from new rods. Clean rod cork, let dry overnight (unless you have nice warm weather), tape edges/trim if necessary apply light coat of cork sealer. I've found that re-coating every other season works good for me in my fishing climate.
  17. I have a old Cabela's bait utility binder/bag, I use to have soft plastics in them but I found that they work great for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits.
  18. I'm not apposed to it, I see it as a tool. I have no electronics on my small 14' boat, I caught fish at every lake I fished last year so I don't complain. In a few years when I get a larger boat with electronics I would like to learn how to use it to have the ability to locate more fish and ability to find areas you don't know are under the water. You still have to present the bait to the fish to get them to commit to bite it.
  19. That is what I use on my reels, I just have the 14.1 oz canister size.
  20. Usually use 12-15 mono/co-polymer for baitcasting reels and 6-8 for spinning.
  21. I have a smaller compact digital scale I keep in my tackle bag that has a grip, I think it was around $20-25. I've compared it to a couple other digital scales I use for mailing/shipping packages and it might be off an 1-2oz. It is close enough for me when I'm out fishing.
  22. Depends if you have the reel disassembled or still together. After I disassemble the reel frame I scrub the frame of the reel with dish soap/toothbrush. Blow dry with compressed air. I clean metal gears/bearings with alcohol or solvent.

  24. I prefer simple black/grey rods with some normal wraps/colors. I would never buy a bright orange/lime green/pink rod, just not my thing. I like simple finishes on my equipment, some people don't care. It doesn't matter to me what other people use, the important part is you're out fishing and enjoying your time on the water.
