  1. I have the new Levante shaky head rod paired with a Vanford 2500. Very nice combo, super light. Stradic Ci4+ is another option, but i'd go with the Vanford if you can afford it.
  2. I've used their discount codes before on Megabass, you will see the discount reflected in the cart. It is not a semi-mystery like TW where it just appears on the invoice. Just ordered 2 MB 110 +1 jr's, got $5 off each one, free shipping and no sales tax. Total came out to $29.98.
  3. This is exactly how it works and comes up every time there is a TW sale. You will not see the discount in cart or anywhere until after you order and get the confirmation email. I've ordered numerous shimano reels in the past and the sale discount is applied. Yes, it's odd. Yes, it scares some people away. No, TW will not screw you over. If they don't give you a discount on the MB/AFTCO/Loomis/Shimano thing you ordered, just email or call them and cancel it.
  4. Amazon has the large size (40 bag) Plano KVD Wormfile Speedbag on sale for $11.47 with free prime one-day shipping. TW has it for $14.99 and BP has it for $12.99. It isn't much, but it's something... https://www.amazon.com/Plano-Speedbag-Premium-Tackle-Organization/dp/B078LGPD67?ref_=ast_sto_dp
  5. Pretty sure you can't stack the 20% off, it specifically states that trailers are excluded and that it cannot be used with other discounts. Still a solid deal at $270 though.
  6. It worked for me, worth a try, you can always call and cancel. Got a free megabass sticker as well.
  7. Megabass is included in the TW sale! Confirmation email showed $60 off the $299 Orochi rod purchased last night.
  8. For older Minn Kota trolling motors with Copilot, they used to have a small remote that you could mount to a fishing rod. See picture below. They stopped making the holder and changed the design of the remote on the newer models. You can't find these things anywhere and if you do they are going for over $10 a piece. It's literally a 25 cent piece of plastic, probably less. I was thinking you could 3D print these, but i don't know much about 3D printing or how tight the tolerances are. It would need to be pretty precise in order to hold the remote properly.
  9. You are correct, it doesn't work during a sale. I'm almost positive it did in the past, but maybe not.
  10. LTBSAVESQ1 Just placed an order at TW and it worked.
  11. This is very interesting. So from a profitability standpoint, wouldn't TW prefer to drop ship as opposed to storing rods in a warehouse and shipping themselves? Or do they get a better deal if they order in bulk from the manufacturer?
  12. Check out the Jackall Rhythm Wave 2.8 swimbait as well. They have been working really well for me this year on a small guppy head. More durable than the keitech, different tail action, and more of a wobble. Slightly cheaper too.
  13. I have a NuCanoe Frontier 12 with a trolling motor on the back. It's super stable for sure, but a pain to load and unload from the bed of a pickup, really needs to be on a trailer. Also, controlling the boat with just a rear trolling motor is not super easy, having it up front would make a big difference. I was thinking about getting a Bonafide as well for floating rivers and small ponds but keeping the NuCanoe for lakes. I've been looking at the Old Towne Topwater PDL as well. The other option is getting a 2019 Hobie Pro Angler. The Lowrance ready retractable transducer pod is ingenious. Hobie seems to be one of the leaders in innovation when it comes to kayaks. The only downside is the price, but like most things in life, you get what you pay for.
  14. Anyone doing well at Back Bay this spring? Just read an article (https://kayakanglermag.com/stories/conservation/the-rebirth-of-legendary-back-bay-bass-fishery/) and it sounds like it has made a big comeback. I'm in Richmond so it would probably involve an overnight stay/camping or a long day of driving. Any decent campgrounds in the area?
  15. This made me laugh. I did a float with a buddy from Maidens to Watkins and we totally underestimated how long it would take. Thought we could do it in 6-8 hours, way wrong. Spent the last hour just paddling our kayaks so he could make it back in time to pick his kid up at daycare. Multiple lessons learned on that trip...
  16. Pretty sure I know where you got that one based on the background. The fence they put around the pond has helped with the geese. I may have caught that same fish a few weeks ago in the corner. I was catching crappie there last weekend way out near the middle using a 2.8 keitech on a guppy head. Also got a few by the drain near the tree. How's the water clarity recently? Last year with all the rain we got every time i fished Chesdin it was like chocolate milk. I launched near the dam at the public ramp. With a kayak i'm a bit limited in where i can go there. The other place i've put in is way up by Chesdin Landing. Didn't have much luck there, but might give it a try again.
  17. LTBSAVESQ1 $5 off
  18. Free shipping on $50+ too. American Legacy has them for $14.99 with free shipping on $99+. I ended up buying 7 of them and using a $10 gift card AL they sent me from a previous rod purchase. Ended up being $13.56 per.
  19. I use 10 pound Power Pro on almost every spinning combo, a few have 15. 150 yds of 10lb PP goes for $13 at walmart. 10# pp has a 2lb mono diameter. As mentioned previously, use a backing of cheap mono or whatever you have around. I also use a leader of maxima ultragreen or some type of flouro depending on the technique and water clarity. You can get away with straight braid on topwater with something like a plopper, but for any other finesse fishing, i'd recommend a 6-12lb leader.
  20. I've got a $10 gift card for american legacy (website only, not ebay) if anyone wants it, just sent me a pm and i'll give you the code.
  21. Stopped by the local Dicks last night to check out the clearance section. Really had to fight the urge, left with nothing... highlights were a few big spools of 80lb power pro, 3.5" gama swim senkos, 130 whopper plopper, gulp stuff, sprinker frogs... then the usual assortment of random old junk. The other thing is they have some clearance items in the normal areas, just have to look for the price ending in 3 or 7 i believe, like a random rapala crank or some gama flipping hooks etc.
  22. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be there Saturday morning so we probably won't get a chance to meet. Had a good time last year, going to try to attend a few more seminars this year. If you see a guy in his 30's with his right arm in a sling, that will be me. May or may not be with the wife, she had a good time people watching last year.
  23. The TB guys did a video on monday about spinning combos and Matt really likes the Sierra. He said it is almost as sensitive as the Champion and it's a pretty big step up from the Fury line. I think being able to get a Sierra now for basically the price of a Fury is a no-brainer. My assumption is they are either discontinuing or updating the Sierra line so they are trying to clear out some inventory. Unfortunately, I just bought another Fury from ALF last week with the ebay coupon for $92, else I would pull the trigger on the Sierra.
  24. The Ned rig should work. Go 1/10 or lighter and use a steady retrieve. Swim it a foot or two under the surface. Do not bounce it if the bottom. If you want to fish the bottom, try a zoom mini lizard (4 inch I think) in cotton candy color on a slider spider head. Go light again, 1/8 or less. You can Texas rig it so it’s weedless. Last option is a floating rapala minnow, small size. Silver with black top. On all of these use ML or L spinning gear, 6-6.5 length. Light line, floro or braid to fluro with a long leader. Last point is is if you are wading you are going to be very limited in the area you are fishing. You have to target eddys behind larger rocks. Accurate casting is paramount. The other skill is casting upstream and using the current. Rivers with flow like yours are a different animal. Understanding the current and where it changes takes some time. You’ll figure it out brother, just keep at it.
  25. Yes, the pond at U of R is open to anyone. You just have to be careful where you park your car. I park in the visitor spots in the main parking area and walk down to the pond and I've never had any issues. I've talked to a number of guys there and they all swear by the wacky worm. I had really good luck with a green pumpkin ned rig a few days ago. A baby brush hog has also worked in the past. I hit up a pond last night in midlo and caught 7 or 8 on a top water popper; megagbass pop x. The bass were in super shallow water that had warmed up during the day. Nothing big, but any top water action is great no matter what.
