  1. 2 setups, tatula ct baitcast and fuego 3000 spinning. All I need.
  2. Thanks for the advice guys! I put it to use today. Was fishing senkos mostly with my medium light then the bite shut off when the rain came. Switched to a 1/4 oz mini rattle trap-gold, fished it aggressively and the bite turned back on again. I honestly laughed and said "hah, it works!" Appreciate the advice guys!
  3. Hey guys, Getting tired of staying in because of rain. Going to invest in some rain gear, but I figured I would ask, what techniques do you guys like to use when fishing in the rain for bass? I've really only fished for catfish in the rain(they seem to love it near me) but never tried actually throwing lures consistently. What do you guys like to throw when fishing in the rain for bass? I figured maybe senkos because of all the bugs and stuff washing into the water, but if anyone has any other tips I am all ears! Thanks!
  4. I will agree with this. I bought the pro qualifier when there was a deal going on at bass pro. I baby my equipment and honestly this reel started giving me issues after 1 day of use. The casting range started getting worse and the reel started making all kinds of noise. Might have just gotten a dud, but I returned it and spent the extra cash and bought a tatula ct and haven't looked back.
  5. Hey guys, I was looking over my Daiwa tatula tonight and realized how much I love this reel and that I am probably not going to replace it any time soon. I was wondering what upgrades were available such as bearings and saw a spool speed kit. Anyone try it? Worth it?
  6. Maybe just an ugly stick gx2 to keep it cheap
  7. Oh yeah forsure. Im glad you understand the type of setup I am getting at then. Ill keep an eye out for the Daiwa BG going on sale
  8. I've actually been using my med heavy baitcaster setup, a daiwa tatula ct and MH berkley lightning rod and it has been okay, but i know spinning will make it alot easier for these creeks. Would an inshore rod feel like too much rod?
  9. I know this is a bass forum, but I figured this section would still be appropriate. I am looking to put together a bobber/light weight bottom fishing setup for going for channel cats up to around 20 lbs and northern pike. I am thinking a medium heavy rod with a 4000 reel with 30 lb braid on. I don't want to spend a ton of money since it is just a bobber setup, anyone get suggestions for a cheap reliable setup? Maybe a Daiwa Airdx/pflueger president or possibly daiwa bg? I have heard Pfluger Presdidents aren't as good as they used to be. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks guys!
  10. Are you tournament fishing? If not then my advice could apply to you. I like bringing 2 setups with me: st croix mojo 6'10 medium light spinning with a shimano sustain 2500 - 8 lb FC Berkley lightning rod 7' medium heavy BC with a Daiwa Tatula ct - 50 lb braid These 2 setups have allowed me to do everything I need. Baitcaster is for frogging and anything 1/2+(sometimes 3/8) and my spinning is for everything up to 3/8. If I bring a 3rd rod its for livebait lol.
  11. Hey guys, I am looking to start fishing for carp just to change it up a bit. I was wondering what type of setups do people use for carp fishing? I was thinking maybe just a medium or medium heavy bass rod with a spinning baitrunner reel? Is flouro a must for carp fishing or does braid work fine too?
  12. Oh yeah you can get some nice surprises depending on the conditions and mood of the fish. Definitely not the first time I have heard someone catching one on a spinnerbait(seems to be the bait that can catch anything). Catfish can be very aggressive. My personal experience was catching bullheads on tiger eyed spoons lol.
  13. Hey guys I know this is a bass fishing forum, so if this isn't allowed please delete. I am currently looking for another reel meant for catfish and occasional sturgeon fishing. I have $50 in bass pro gift cards. I notice they have their Catmaxx spinning available for $50, but I saw this as well https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-snaggin-special-levelwind-reel . Has anyone used this? I mostly bank fish except for weekends with the boat. Bps told me that I would have trouble casting it, but I cast my Penn warfare levelwind just fine. I have used the catmaxx spinning before, so i know its a real solid spinning reel, but in terms of baitcasters, how would this "snaggin special" or their catmaxx baitcaster be?
  14. I don't see why 11 lbs isn't enough. Its been plenty when I have needed to pull 20# cats up from some of the nastiest places.
  15. I had good luck with Cajun red, but I mainly use big game.
  16. Had the same thing happen with my pflueger trion. Happened quickly after I bought it too. Opened it up and it was the spring and its a pain in the ass to get it in right. I just threw the thing in the garbage and bought a sahara.
  17. The shimano sahara and sedona are great reels. I only both, 2 of the sahara in 4000 series and love them. They are realiable and last a long time. Other people mentioned the Kastking. I have the Kastking Sharky III 3000 and I use it on a live bait setup for cats and it has lasted me a while. The sharky III will be the cheapest, and it really depends if you like the feeling of a graphite or an aluminum frame. They are all good choices, personally, I'd go with the Sahara, but I am bias towards it because of all of the good fishing it has given me.
  18. I only have their sharky III 3000 spinning reel. Its a smooth reel. I've had no problems with it and i was using it on a smaller catfish setup in the mud. Works great to this day, no problems. Their baitcasters I haven't tried. There seem to be certain models that give you longevity and certain models that start making a ton of noise after a few uses. I hear a lot of good things about their round catfish reel, the Rover. Maybe some guys here can give comparisons between their kastkings and other similar priced reels like the president, black maxx,bps,etc...
  19. My shimano sustain 2500fl. Such a smooth reel.
  20. Then again though you do have some quality spinning reels like the Pflueger President that is priced very well for what you get out of it.
  21. I have a shimano stradic fl 1000. I usually use it for my ultralite setup- which i use for smallmouth bass. But i never had a problem catching bigger largemouth on it when pairing it with a medium rod. Its honestly my favorite reel to use lol. Wish i used it more but spinning wise I have used my shimano sustain 2500 for most of my bass fishing.
  22. Yeah I was looking at the Shimano Nacis and he says to me "also, we just got this, its a really nice reel." I picked it up, and loved it honestly. Hard to imagine picking a bass pro shops reel or rod over a shimano though.
  23. I was at bass pro today and was showed this https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-100188256 I was told that these are made by Diawa? Anyone know? I gotta say, it felt very smooth and the frame was very comfortable to hold. The handle felt like one of my old sustains as well.
  24. Hey thanks for all the feedback guys, sorry I was traveling and couldn't respond. I am going to bass pro today. After looking at the specs of the Fuego, it seems like the perfect reel for what I'm doing. Just gonna see if its comfortable in my hands. I even put my shimano cardiff 401a reel on my medium heavy bass rod just to see what it would feel like lol. Seems like I haven't seen one bad review on the fuego tho.
  25. Hey guys, Getting real cabin fever lately so I’m gonna get a low profile baitcaster. I’m looking for one that I’m gonna be using for frogging and live bait presentations, so using about 50 or 60 lb braid, and putting it on a medium heavy. Hoping to get it under 100$ but I’ll go to 130$. I’d also like it to have a good amount of drag. Hope everyone is staying warm and if not I hope you’re at least catching fish in this cold! Thanks guys, tight lines!
