Hey All...I've been a heavy saltwater angler for 20 years as I've lived in coastal states my entire life. I currently live in SC and continue to enjoy the ocean. I recently purchased a 5+ acre property with a beautiful pond on it. I could see some great looking fish enjoying their home in the pond. My 8 year old son is also crazy about fishing so I gave him my light tackle pole, plastic worms and a jitterbug and said. "go nuts!" He quickly pulled out these two beauties which were promptly returned as i intend on them being long time members of our property/family. I was hoping someone could identify these two fish. I think the large one is a largemouth bass but it lacks any patterning. the small one is confusing me as it has a gaping mouth but seems too stout to be a large or small mouth and the mouth is too big to be a bream of some kind except a warmouth, but that still seems off. Hopefully with time and practice Id ing freshwater species will come easier. Thanks for your help. The first fish is here the second will be in a reply...thx
