  1. It really depends on if I believe your gonna put everything you catch in the frying pan or not. That and if I know I'll be fishing against you that weekend ill keep my secrets to myself. Usually I'll try and be helpful though. I've had some really good sticks be really helpful and good to me so I try and pay it back.
  2. A little less than 2 weeks away here in Arkansas. I'm pretty pumped up. I love the fall between hunting on the weekend and having an empty lake the rest of the time what more could a man ask for.
  3. Mountain harbor on lake ouachita. It's really nice and good fishing. Topwater bite should be going great. Plus lots of stripers and walleye. Being a member here I might could help you out too on some bass. Stripers or anything else there's a guide named Chris Darby who's really good
  4. Hell yeah man. That's awesome. Congrats
  5. Wind and recreational boaters who love to go flying in between you and the bank your casting at. There's a whole lake behind me use it !!!!
  6. I love creek fishing. Especially the one that runs through my back yard plus some others here in the ouachitas. Nothing like catching a good brownie on ultralight. Nowadays I mostly use a 6'6 ml though. As for what st croix rod to use I have no clue. I went real budgety on my setup because I float with it too. I learned a long time ago to not spend a lot of money on a rod and reel your gonna fish outta canoe with that may or may not stay upright the whole time.
  7. I like to hunt deer with my crossbow. I also really like to play basketball and love anything arkansas razorback related. WPS!!!!
  8. Whitetail deer with a crossbow and that's about it. Ride around work somedays and lay the smack down on some squirrels but that's more nuisance management than hunting.
  9. I like the any 4-5 inch finesse worm in a watermelonish color. Caught some good ones on a strike king one in candy craw. I also like the big dead ringers in pumpkinseed chartreuse. But those are usually prespawn-spawn.
  10. Be willing to try new things and be patient with them. You never know when a new technique might become your go to technique. Be thankful for the good days and the bad because how bad can a day of fishing really be. Try to get as many new people involved in our sport as you can and be willing to teach them.
  11. Yeah we've all had those days. Love em lol. Had one a few weeks ago where my partner who's a really good fisherman had gotten a bad batch of really good expensive line. Broke his line on 4-5 hooksets. Never saw a man so disgusted. It probably cost us the tournament. It's part of it though makes you appreciate those days everything goes right even more.
  12. You can get the okuma stratus v at dicks right now for $35. I have one and their solid reels especially for the on sale price. It'd leave you some leeway for a rod too if your on a budget Oh and the lews carbon fire rods are on sale at dicks too for $40 so $80ish after taxes for the combo.
  13. Well I'd say just catch a bunch of fish. Unless the pb just so happened to be my 5th keeper on Sept 2nd. In which case I'd be 5k to the good and would happily not catch a bass for 3 months and focus on killing ole mossy with my bow
  14. Lmb- 1/2 oz silver Johnson spoon in a pond nonetheless 10-4 Smb- 1/4 oz floating jerkbait 4-12
  15. Gotta go with a big one on a topwater. And maybe not even the big splashy one the one where there's just a slurp followed by pressure. Love it. My other would be anytime I get to watch my lil boy catch a fish. There all giants to him
  16. Never wished I'd have stayed home and watched mash. Maybe the ufc or a razorback game but not mash lol but I've had a few rough nights lately too. Got 2nd Friday and skunked last night. Just part of it. Had fun regardless. Even tried to drag some recreational boaters off a sand bar they'd run aground on last night. Made me thankful that even though I had a bad night fishing it could always be worse
  17. I'm gonna say it's the line. Cheap fluoro and spinning equipment doesn't mesh from my experience. I'd recommend your preference of 8lb mono or a light braid. I spoil my reels the same way and only had problems when I put cheap fluoro on one. If you use braid you can always use a fluoro leader to get it to sink.
  18. I'm of the belief that when you feel the tap to wait and look for line movement or pressure. My partner who's won way more money than I have and a way more experienced angler sets on the tap. We both catch fish. Do I feel either ways better not sure just a individual comfort thing. And I rarely get hooks swallowed this way. On Friday night I had one swim halfway to the boat before I could catch up to set the hook and no gut hook. My main reasoning for my method I suppose is I've probably hooked more non-fish with a t-rig than any man should at my age lol
  19. Waters about 90 here in Arkansas too. We've been catching all out fish pretty much on humps during the day finesse fishing. Shakey head drop shot some on a swimbait. At night only caught em texas rigging an ol monster on brush piles.
  20. So is the mojo bass better than the premier? I ask this because I have a premier that may have seen better days and I was thinking about using warranty on and saving some $$$ and staying in the the ole ladies good graces
  21. Alright so I need some advice! I have the evx 6'8 m topwater jerkbait rod and love it. Since I decided to let my lowrider worm and jig rod become property of lake ouachita I have to get a replacement. My significant other says NO WAY am I spending over 120 for another rod lol. Is the okuma evx 7'2 medium heavy a suitable replacement? It'll mainly he used for t-rigs some light c-rigs maybe a chatterbait here and there. Is there a better option in this price range?
  22. I have the 73dv so I can't comment on the side imaging. As for the downview and the rest it's a great unit for the price. I absolutely love it. And I've had some ppl in my boat who are lifelong lowrance guys who agree there's not a better unit on the market for the price
  23. I should've dove in but my mind told me that if I dove in and ruined my phone and didn't manage to get my rod I was out way more money. Hopefully the line broke and somebody will catch the rod. But with the amount of brush around I'd imagine the rod got caught and broke.
  24. Tonight I was fishing a night tournament on ouachita and well it could've went better. Not only was the fishing tough but when i thought it was bad I couldn't have envisioned how bad it'd get. Finally got a good bite on an ol monster and set the hook and blam my 4 month old falcon lowrider somehow jumped outta my hand. Got the light turned on just in time to see my rod getting drug to its final resting place. Thought about bailing in after it but had my phome in my pocket. By then it was too late. Has this ever happened to anyone else??
  25. Yes there's always a chance the fish comes back to hit again. I'm not sure how good of one but a chance. During a tournament last Friday my brother in law had one blow up and he loaded the rod and set the hook like he was t-rigging thick cover while I was watching the bait float back up lol. He popped it another couple times and it blew up again. Told him to wait then set hook and he got it. 3 lber definately helped at weigh in
