  1. Falcon rods are fantastic. Never used the Jason Christie ones though. Love my caras, lowriders, and even my bucoo sr. They also have great customer support.
  2. Like actually 0??? Not very often. Catch very few or no fish that'd measure? More often than I'd like lol
  3. I keep a Carolina rig tied on 365 days a year. The bait changes season to season but always tied on and rarely lets me down. Texas rig of some variety either a creature or big worm. Right now it's a keitech fat 3.8, a shakey head with a candy craw fat baby finesse, topwater, and a 5xd. But these will change as the season's change, the c-rig and Texas rig will remain.
  4. I have a lews David fritts perfect crank rod. It's a solid deep crank rod and budget friendly have it matched with a curado with a 5.5:1 ratio. The quantum tour kvd cranking rods are awesome also. I know a couple folks who swear by them and I got to use the 7'11 mh one a couple weeks ago because my tournament partner said I didn't need to bring mine then we wound up cranking for hours. It felt really really good
  5. Soft plastics: 10.5 cranberry yum ribbontail, fish a lot at night during summer and these seem to work almost year round. Hard bait: probably sk 5xd. I have a ton of different cranks and topwater but of a random variety.
  6. Line left in the water drives me absolutely beserk, pleasure boaters cutting between me and the bank when there's a mile of open water behind me, white bass during a tournament will hit your lure Iike a tank and have you hollering at your partner "GET THE NET" then you gotta figure out how to get the trebles out of them feisty dudes.
  7. Fished a couple's tournament on greers ferry yesterday. Absolutely stunning lake, beautiful clear water. As for the fishing just caught 3 keepers and a bunch of almost 15 inchers so the finish wasn't too hot. Had a blast all-n-all though. Good weekend spent with the significant other. The fish in the pic was by far the smallest of the day lol
  8. Have you tried the ole double fluke rig? Works really well during the shad spawn here. As a matter of fact that's one of the things my wife has tied on to start the couple's tournament tomorrow. No wrong way to fish a fluke really. Just depends on what mood the fish are in.
  9. I fish out of a 16 foot procraft in tournaments and pretty good size water all the time. Do i run wtfo in whitecaps? No. Do i just hammer down at takeoff around a bunch of bigger boats risking getting swamped? No. Does it suit my needs fine and flat tick off the big expensive boats when I beat em??? Yep
  10. Part of it. Keep your head up. Yesterday we weighed in 15.86 lost a 4+ and a 5+. Had to weigh in a 2 and a 2.5. 19.82 won. What was at stake?? A 2018 ranger z518 with an evinrude 150.?? had to settle for 7th and a $1500 check. Could've been worse but we know and it stings a little.
  11. I suppose that combo would work. As long as it has a good drag and a good size spool. Most definitely a better rod holder lol. Welcome aboard btw
  12. 1st trip out on a little electric only lake down an abominable dirt road the other day. Pretty good trip caught 6-7 this was the biggest
  13. Rebel crawdad in Louisiana craw. Just cast and reel in the current. I only get to fish for smallies in the rivers around my house in Arkansas though.
  14. Just go fishing and have fun. If you so happen to 0, blame it on the boater. After all you were fishing his spots lol
  15. Man I have a 6'9 dobyns sierra medium light with a 3000 series pflueger president that I'm tickled with. Good for drop shots, wacky rigs, I'm sure it'd work for a ned rig ( never tried one.) Looking at a little over $200 for the combo. (Disclaimer: I found the rod up against a trash bin at work with 5/8 inch broke off the tip. It's still super sensitive and Love it)
  16. The alternative is.... stock up if you find them on sale lol. They are pretty expensive but flat out catch fish.
  17. No it doesn't make you a better fisherman. Namely because you'll still be the same guy fishing the same places with the same lures regardless of what reel you have. Learning what to throw, when to throw it and where are what make you a better angler. I'm of the belief that rods are WAY more important than reels.
  18. My favorite reel brand is the one that suits my need for a price I'm willing to pay. I have curados to cheap pinnacles and they've all pretty much did what I wanted them too.
  19. To me it depends. If I know some good fish are more aggressive later in the day I'll go for a limit early and try and cull later. If it's a good morning bite I'll do the opposite. This weekend I'm fishing a tourney on a lake I've never fished with no practice. So I'm just gonna try and catch 5 then go flip bushes hoping for a homerun. Just try not to lose too much ground in the aoy standings
  20. Let Jordan play in a league where you can't handcheck or get away with a bodyslam and see the unbelievably gaudy stats he would put up. Put LeBron in the league back then and see if he's as healthy at this age as he is. Btw until cp3 and the beard prove they can win when it matters most it's the warriors to lose
  21. Yep lost a falcon lowrider 20 last summer on a hookset. Not sure how but it was demoralizing.
  22. A 7' or longer medium heavy/fast or moderate fast rod with a 7:1 reel will cover a lot of techniques besides deep cranking.
  23. For some reason it's freezing in Arkansas in April after 3 inches of rain. So what to do when you don't feel like fishing???? You got it.... monster jam with the boy.
  24. When bank fishing or out of the canoe, I keep it to 2 or 3. A small tackle box with a few lures for canoe fishing and a bag with a couple 3600 boxes and bags of plastics bank fishing.
