  1. I had a hole in a plastic canoe a couple years ago. I took a heat gun and strips from a Folgers can. It worked out way better than I would've thought. I did put some gorilla tape over the top of that. I floated many a river since and never once leaked a drop.
  2. Full disclosure: 95% of the time when I bank fish it's in the river in my backyard. So I just carry a couple rods. 1) generally a hardbait or some variety. 2) usually a soft plastic. In my package of soft plastics I throw some hooks and I'm on my way. When you're a whopping 250 foot from your back door you can pack super light
  3. The medical marijuana dispensary. That's all I got for now
  4. In my personal experience spotted bass can live anywhere. And generally where there's 1 there's a solid population. Anytime I'm fishing a small river or creek I'm gonna start with a rebel wee craw. That'll pretty much catch anything that swims.
  5. Pro staff deal or closeouts. I have access to a dealer book and get reels for what most would call cheap ( extremely relative term). The profit margin for most rod and reel dealers per product is low. I mean really low.
  6. So.... It's not really a rattletrap. Just a real shiny funky looking ballhead jig???? Makes sense
  7. I throw 15-20lb fluoro to a 12 lbs mono leader. I also fish a highland reservoir with lots of gravel and shell beds and such. You should be fine with what you're thinking. Cxx is pretty stout for it's lb rating.
  8. I tried the toothpaste thing after a tournament yesterday and it does work amazingly well. Thanks for the tip.
  9. Are you serious about the toothpaste?? Ive never thought of that.
  10. Falcon bucoo sr is a solid stick at the $100 price point. They're a little overrated on power. Plenty light and sensitive though. Lots of good options for an angler for that cost.
  11. I miss March madness the most. It's arguably my favorite thing all year. The brackets and Cinderella. All of it. I'm also a youth baseball coach and I'm missing that too. Hoping things get back to normal in time for football.
  12. Yes it's a striper. It was built like a tank. I'm guessing 12-14 lbs. And I guess that's a hognose sucker. I really wasn't sure what it was.
  13. I'm gonna go with yo-zuri. I've had a ton of success with their lipless and walking topwater. I've heard the jerkbait is good too. I'm just not a jerkbait guy.
  14. Got 4th yesterday with 13.4. Lots of rain and a cold front took away what I really wanted to do. Caught them on windy main lake pockets on a 1/2 oz red( not sure the technical color) yo zuri rattling vibe. I thought I knew my lake better than I did. I did lots of driving trying to find flat main lake pockets that are in a northeast wind. Turned out ok though.
  15. I won the classic whoop whoop ? lol.
  16. I fish a bitsy bug regularly with quite a but of success. Craw papi is the trailer I use the most. I've started using a rage Ned bug though.
  17. I bought one of these in a craw pattern at a flea market for $1 recently. Have any of y'all fished with one? Do they work?
  18. I'm super excited about extra daylight. Being as the shop is a whopping 3 minutes from the boat ramp it's easy to get excited. Just tote the ole javelin to work and fish till dark. Plus dst means it's getting warmer and there'll be more ways to catch em.
  19. That's what I was thinking it possibly was. I know we have them in Arkansas. Just never heard of or saw one on lake ouachita or it's tributaries. I'm the bump man for a high school series and I'm glad someone didn't bring this fish to the scales lol
  20. I've caught a whole bunch of spots and brownies and never questioned what was what.... Until today. Caught this one at the river behind my house. Has definite spot markings but I've never seen a brown spot.
  21. You can throw club benefit tournaments with like a 70% payout and the other 30% going to help the team. Also hit up some local businesses for things to sell raffle tickets for. Maybe also try and get those businesses to possibly help sponsor the team. Just some thoughts
  22. As a wee little guy I wanted to drive a monster truck. As I got towards the end of school I wanted to coach. A couple of bad decisions later and I build stuff. I also volunteer coach tee ball and basketball which reinforces that coaching was my dream job.
  23. I've velcro'd my tab e with navionics to my dash a few times before Garmin had maps to a few lakes I fish. Wouldn't do it in the rain or real rough water but it did what was asked when needed
