  1. Im still using monofilament on my freshwater setups and I have no problems getting bites on whatever I use. I am considering changing out all of my old bait casters for low profile ones and on those I will be using straight high vis braid. The lakes I seem to always fish in the most are always loaded with weeds and grass. Fish dont ever seem to see my line. On my Saltwater rods im already using braid. Again NEVER seem to have issues feeling bites. Granted Saltwater is usually deeper water and the fish grab the bait and run.
  2. I would most likely choose Scott Martin. He seems like a really mellow and chill guy. And he knows his stuff.
  3. This is PA. The bass are smaller than the bait fish. LOL
  4. So today I hit the water for a little while. And I can say for the first time on the lake I caught the strangest fish. Apparently I hooked a Golden Shiner about 12" long a little under a pound. And I caught it on a Manns Baby minus 1 Crankbait. I just thought bait fish dont get that big. Well apparently they do. I couldnt get a picture of it. I tried my hardest.
  5. I also enjoy living in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by summer homes and the home values around me dont really effect mine because of the uniqueness of my home its sure to maintain property value.
  6. And this is why I dont care how cheap a house is, I WILL NEVER LIVE IN AN HOA. Too many Chiefs not enough indians. And I always thought it funny how a group of other home owners can tell you HOW TO OWN YOUR PROPERTY.
  7. I was gonna mount a rod holder on my wall at an angle like 45° to the floor. And that would allow storage. But I have several large rods 2 14' surf cast rods and a 12' fly rod.
  8. First world problems. I have to find a better solution to storing rods. This guys garage is too small for his boat. LOL. Yeah man they make powered trailer dollies. And they arent very expensive. But youll hate my thought on the subject. If you need to get hooked up at 4am? Just hook it up the night before and be ok. Or get a boat cover and leave your boat outside (if thats an option) I know many guys with tritons and rangers and skeeters that all have covered and just leave them parked outside year round.
  9. Well here in PA the Blue Gill might have spawned already. But I caught 7 blue gill on a zara puppy. I cast into the shallows near them and they kept hitting the zara. And kept getting good hook sets on their mouths. So try a Zara Puppy they will get angry at it and hit it.
  10. My buddy lives on a farm and its got a sizeable farm pond. Fed by an underground spring. This pond is only about 6 feet deep but has no real cover. He ended up cutting holes in sterilized milk jugs and stuck branches in side and cementing them in place. Made probaby 10 or 15 of them. And it provides excellent cover for Bass. And he has them marked with floating orange buoys. only about 6 inches with about 10 feet of 100lbs braid tied to the handles. And i just was able to fish them this weekend from the bank and had great results. Some very very nice large mouth. 2 lbs for a farm pond with very minimal bait fish presence is good. Were gonna bring in crawfish and golden shiners next year. Try to get them hefty.
  11. Sounds like gun. Ive heard River fishing can be fun. And id like to get on the susquie a little more often. My wife and I share a car right now and shes normally the one driving it.
  12. Thank You
  13. Oh I can catch fish anywhere. I know what im doing. But a kayak isnt fat guy friendly. 250lbs limit. And unless im gonna fork out over $1000 for a "big and tall" kayak. Im looking into getting a tracker boat for the river.
  14. Yeah ive heard small mouth are a nice little fight. Ive only get caught tiny small mouth bass.
  15. But ive heard many people state that if you dont have a boat the susquehanna isnt a very good spot. Because unless you can get to a good spot youre fighting the current and find the fish.
  16. So I hit the lake today. It was a little windy so I decided to use the lipless crank bait and sure enough nailed it good today. 6 small mouth and 2 decent large mouth. And for good measure threw on a bubble gum colored senko, So I could see it, and rigged it weightless texas style and was destroying pickerels. Caught 2 20"+ pickerel. Was a very fun day on the lake. Even had a very decently sized Rainbow trout chase my perch colored crank bait. I think the fishing is on now that its warm.
  17. Thank you for that info. I will have to check some of these out. The DCNR officer I called yesterday is going to bring a boat up to our lake and do a quick survey for numbers even though its a private lake they still feel that if the fish numbers are dying they need to do an intervention to help boost its numbers. But again thank you for that info. I do like wallenpaupack because there are some big fish in there . But still need to get ON the lake which can be hampered by weekend idiots that loves to get drunk and destroy the lake with their racing boats.
  18. Thanx folks. And looks like today is another day that I wont be fishing. Terribly windy and has a bit of a chill up by way.

  20. I live in a little town called Jermyn. Its Between Carbondale and Scranton and North of Eynon where burlington coat factory is. And yes PA is crap for Bass Fishing. Trying to get my local DCNR officer to come investigate the amount of illegal fish being taken every day.
  21. Yes I live on a Lake. We have Waullenpaupack. But unfortunately again on weekends Waullenpaupack is full of douches and their huge racing boats. And the local lakes are heavily overfished. I will have to look into coming up to NY. Whats the cost of an out of state license up there? About $100?
  22. Hey everyone. New member from PA. Hoping to find some new fishing buddies or some new locales to fish. Been fishing for about 28 years. Im a avid Salt Water fisherman with some very large catches over the past years, nothing record breaking but some amazing fish.
  23. Anyone in Northeast PA know of any lakes with a decent bite going right now? I live near Chapman Lake the there is NOTHING biting on that lake. It overfished and dead. There is small pan fish but im looking for bass. Whats out there everyone. Thanks in Advance.
