  1. Pretty popular rod. Cabella's, Bass Pro Shops, even Dick's Sporting Goods has carried them. You could also order from Tackle Warehouse.
  2. That combo should treat you well, you can't go wrong with Abu Garcia's Veritas series rods. A 7' to 7'6" Medium Heavy, Fast Action rod that is... because of it's versatility.
  3. As a newer angler like yourself I don't have too much experience under my belt - anyways here is my two cents. I have two Abu Garcia Veritas rods (combined with Abu Garcia reels) and they currently fit all of my needs. I would recommend a 7' to 7'6". The latter will really help if you are a long distance caster. These rods on average run around $70 and you won't regret it. If you're on a budget their are some cheaper Abu Garcia rods like the Vengeance and Berkley makes a decent cheap rod known as the Lighting Rod. You should probably aim for medium to medium-heavy, fast action rod like NiX recommended above, this rod will provide an all around versatile setup. Oh yeah... and try to avoid combo setups and purchase your rods and reels independent of each other.
  4. Welcome! New to the community and fishing myself as well. I enjoy top water fishing for bass with bait like hollow body frogs. Top water fishing is obviously a blast and the thrill of the topwater blowup and fights is hard to beat... I quickly learned that if you're having trouble and want to produce bites and pull fish in always resort to weedless plastic like Senkos. Happy fishing!

  6. Wanted to stop by and say howdy to everyone! My name is Zach and I'm from Indianapolis. Up to this point I've been stalking on the forums and I've really enjoyed the resource that the 'bassresource' forums have been to me in learning all of the tricks of the trade of fishing, specifically catching bass. I started fishing this year and already own two setups: a baitcaster for frogging and other topwater lures, and a spinning reel for fishing plastics. Love learning how to read the fish and tie the different knots, ways of rigging, ways of working different baits and exploring for new fishing holes. Happy fishin' and see you all around!
  7. Fowler Park in Terre Haute. Roughly an hour and a half drive from Indianapolis. Kayaks are allowed on the lake and every campsite has direct water access. Indy local here, went camping there last weekend for a mountain bike race and was able to catch a ton of bass topwater fishing.
  8. Purchased a 7'6" MH Abu Garcia Veridas 2.0 Frog Series rod from tacklewarehouse today. Never used anything more than a 7' rod so I'm interested in seeing how this guy works out!Kept the shock rod as it stands well for other types of fishing-and couldn't justify returning it being I bought it on sale for only $30.00.
  9. Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I already purchased the Lighting, but the reel is being shipped ie. I might return it for something more optimal. I was also considering an Abu Garcia Vengeance being it was $10 more than the Lightning, or maybe I should spend a little more and go for a Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 MH 7'-7'6 Frog Rod?
  10. Berkley MH 7' Lightning Shock Rod Abu Garcia RVO3 SX-HS Low Profile 7:1:1 Reel ...and 50lb PowerPro braided line.
