  1. My buddy, Mobbin Outdoors did a whole video on setting up a tamarack angler. Search for him on youtube and you will find the video. Good luck and congrats on getting into the kayak fishing game!
  2. I fish from the bank with jigs all the time. I like Med-Hvy, Fast. braid to a fluro leader and start sticking them! Seibert Outdoors is my go-to for jigs also.. If you're new to fishing jigs I suggest starting with 1/4oz jigs to get confidence in the bait. Good luck.
  3. I know, crappy picture. I took it earlier and what ever. It's a Curado K lol how bad can it be. Just picked this up for the Delta, 50lb braid.
  4. Did my first Kayak Bass Fishing tournament this passed weekend at Lake Berryessa. I placed 49th out of 138, I just couldn't get rid of my little guy! Oh well, it was a great experience and won't be my last. Here is my best from tournament day. She smacked this itsy bug swimming over vegetation!
  5. Caught a few before the small storm passed through this week. All spotted bass, biggest being 2lb 2oz. The bite is getting better
  6. sounds good. My first decent combo was a Daiwa Tatula CT00H and St Croix MojoBass 7' MH. I love it. So I would imagine that combo will perform better than what im using.
  7. Some Jigs from Seibert Outdoors, I had the same look on my face when I opened the box. This was before I trimmed skirts and weed guards.
  8. Woops posted in the latest sale thread! not latest tackle purchase!
  9. Got 3 the first day of the storm. Waiting for it to clear up again here in Cali.
  10. I will have to try this trick. My hands get so cold it will be nice to warm em up!
  11. interesting topic, I try it all till something starts working. Lol! I would like to hear why other people choose fishing up, down, or parallel.
  12. Won these in a raffle, cost me $36
  13. My water temps are in the high 60's to low 70's, we are going through a little heat wave again so water temps will probably stick around 70 for about another week.. I am in northern California. Hopefully they will be on it soon
  14. Can't wait to try these boys out! Possibly going out tomorrow morning and I'll try it out... So far that is what I have been doing just looking for that first hit! Yes super lucky, I had 3 numbers out of 20 and I hit
  15. So I recently won this raffle of a Vision 110 lot and I plan on jerkbait fishing a lot this fall. I recently got a setup for these lures and plan to really work on my jerkbait fishing. I haven't even caught a fish with this technique yet. I have read the jerkbait thread stickied at the top but I am just looking at starting a specific thread for fall jerkbait fishing. I usually cast it out and work it back with a variation of jerks, 1 jerk, 2 jerk, 3 jerk. I pause and count and then jerk again, sometimes I burn it back with jerks. I just haven't been throwing them enough to catch my first one and figure out what I like to do. How do you like to work your bait? What areas are you keying in on? What is your favorite color?
  16. Kayak - 4 rods (3 BC and one spinning), a net, a few plano boxes with a little bit of everything. Topwater/jerkbait/spinnerbait/lip and lipless cranks/jigs/plastics Shore - 2 Rods(one spinning and one BC) and a backpack with 2 plano boxes filled with stuff I would use for the day. When I fish the shore I usually throw jigs/plastics
  17. Try hopping your baits instead of dragging them through the weeds. One pop, maybe two pops, sometimes three pops. It all really depends on what they want. Personally I like to do two pops to start. If I don't get bit I start to switch it up.
  18. So I am going to be fishing a new lake that I have never been too. I did some homework on the lake with navionics and google maps. I know where I want to start based on that. My go to is jigs and senkos. Next up will be lipless cranks, then other cranks and spinners. I am wondering what the rest of us would do once you are on the water and fishing a new lake during this transition time.
  19. I will let people know what I am using. It doesn't really matter to me. Most of the time they won't know how to work the lure the right way if they need to ask random people what they're using. I don't ask others what they are using. I might say, "any luck today?" or something of that nature.
  20. I couldn't help it and ended up ordering one
  21. I think this is why I love fishing so much. No two anglers are going to have the same favorite baits to throw. You really have to just get out on the water and figure out what you like to do. Myself, I like to throw jigs and that's because I catch most of my fish on jigs all year! Just keep switching it up and find what you like!
  22. Right, I was debating pulling the trigger last night. I am still debating it... LOL!
  23. The Ugly Stik Combo isn't the problem. Honestly I would wait to upgrade your combo until you start pulling in some more fish. The senko is a great rig, how exactly are you throwing it? What are you throwing it at and what are the conditions? Give us a little more info. Use 8-10lb Fluorocarbon and try wacky rigging your senko if you can do so without getting snagged up in what ever you are fishing. If you are pulling through grass, weightless T-rig should be fine. Myself, I never throw a senko with a bullet weight. For example, I have a friend who didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on his fishing combo so he spent $50 on the Ugly Stik combo from Wally World. He caught his PB this year, 6lb 8oz... *EDIT* I see A-Jay said to use the braid to leader combo, I think that's the best to do also. You are new though and I think a braid to leader combo can lead to more of a hassle when starting out, 10lb mono main line would be the cheapest route IMO. Using the fluorocarbon I think would give you a better chance to catch something though! My 2 cents Good Luck.
  24. I use arky style jigs, finesse jigs, football jigs, and I just ordered some Dredge brush jigs from Seibert Outdoors. My favorite jigs come from Seibert. I always get black/blue or some variation of Green Pumpkin. I have had best luck with 1/4oz and 3/8oz jigs. I am usually fishing pretty clear water.
  25. Good info guys, looks like i'll wear out my hooks before swapping em out, accept on my strike-kings lol
