  1. The striker 4, and 93sv plus lights and aerator and bilge are all that's on the battery. That battery has its own charger, and the motor is a Yamaha f90. Most likes ill run for 5-10 minutes, and looks like it gets charged fully. I wanted to run another battery, but i would have to put it else where in the boat as my battery area is full up. I have 2 27 series for the trolling motor, and one 24 for the motor. I think i could fit a 27 for the motor. boat is a 2017 G3 spotsman17.
  2. Nope no freak out even when it was low and cranking. i figured i may upgrade to a 27 when this battery is due for replacement, and just carry some jumper cables just in case.
  3. So i now have two fishfinders on my boat. I have the garmin 93sv, and the striker 4. I became a little worried after spending a couple hours fishing and my 93sv said the voltage was at 11.2. I currently run both the fish finders off my starting battery, and it gets charged when i run, but for two hours of just floating that seemed awful low. I know car batteries when you get under 11 volts you are rolling the dice on starting. Just wanted to see if thats normal or if should i look for a house battery. The bettery in question is about 1 year old group 24 interstate.
  4. I can almost always get a bit on a roboworm.
  5. So I just installed a Garmin 93sv, and I noticed they sell an extra called fishing hot spots pro. It sounds like it would be handy, and it's only 50$. However I cant seem to find lake coverage info for it, and I would guess that's it's only some of the HD lakes. Only about 50% of the lakes I fish are HD. Has anyone used the chip and what are your opinions of it?
  6. Sounds easy, ill try tossing a wacky rig, or whatever else I have rigged close to the hooked fish and see what I can get.
  7. So basically I found some active fish, and I need to or have co angler follow up near the hooked fish to try and snag another one. Thanks for the information.
  8. So this morning fishing I noticed that ever fish I caught would have a larger fish following him all the way in to the boat. I wanted to know if the following meant anything, or if I should adjust my fishing when I notice that type of action. Here is the setup if needed. I was fishing a robo worm shaky head in very thick trees and brush in the back of a cove in about 7ft of water. The water temp was 59, clarity was about 2 ft. All the fish we're caught when I was skipping as far into the brush as I could get. None on the edges.
  9. Live well aerator would not turn on Trim tab needed adjustment Half the trailer lights were not working, though some of that may be the truck. The service guy showed me how to do the trim tab and told me he will set it where its supposed to be at and then I can fine tune it. I found a few loose screws and plenty of scrapes and such on the boat. All things I would expected on used boat.
  10. Yea I really wanted the 24v, but I suspect that's going to be on my list that I buy this winter. Move the striker up to the bow and put a garmin 7sv at the console Add a power pole micro or talon Upgrade trolling motor Cover Then buy more rods and tackle to fit in all the space I have now.
  11. He said they did, good until 2022 I believe is what he said. Should I have any paperwork on it?
  12. Well I took it home. First boat. The local service center still has to fix a couple of minor issues, but over all she ran good.
  13. Not sure. its not much cheaper than the new boats though only $2k, but its pretty much new. I guess im mostly concerned with getting a good deal.
  14. I'm looking at a 2017 G3 Sportsman 17. It has a 90 HP Yamaha with 55lb trolling motor, and a Garmin striker 4. I believe that's all standard equipment. The boat has 45 hours on it, looks just about new. I'm going to test drive it tomorrow, but wanted to know about the price. They want $18573 out the door. Via email they seemed firm on that, and only offered me a boaters kit with and anchor and some rope and such. I looked at NADA and from what I can tell they are priced correctly. I have never bought a boat before, and wanted to know how far I should try to push them?
  15. Well I made an attempt to use a pop r with it. I found out doing anything other than a little under hand flip felt awkward. I realised that I use two hands on almost all of my casts. I think I will store the rod and find me something with a longer handle. Thanks for all the input.
  16. Yea I am a little tall for it id guess im 6' 3". hard to pass up free though, if I can make it work for something better than my current rods. 7' 6" heavy extra fast 6' 6" medium medium.
  17. I found an old 2 piece five and a half foot baitcasting rod. I don't know the brand but it says medium action. I am currently borrowing a reel for it, a bass pro 7 to 1. Is some off brand rod worth using or what brand is it? (only have 2 other baitcasting rods) What would a shorter rod like that be best for? What speed reel should I put on there?
  18. Looking at the prowler 175. I have two dealers in the area to shop at. I had wanted to get the prowler with an evinrude e-tec 75hp. so here is how they lay out: Cabelas will order it for me. Evinrude 75hp with a 55lb minnkota and a garmin 7sv boat dealer has a prowler in stock. Suzuki 70hp with a 55lb minnkota and a hummingbird 7si Prices are similar, but when I was shopping I was looking for the E-tec 75hp. I guess my question is should I stick with the Evinrude and order it, or should I go with the Suzuki? Another factor would be that the closest Evinrude service center besides that cabelas is a couple hours away, and the Suzuki is only 30 minutes.
  19. thanks for the info. I will have to give them all a try and see what sticks.
  20. I looked at those G-Finesse ones, they looked good. Id like to see one in person but I may get a pack to try out. What weights do you use?
  21. gotta have a little weight with the zman stuff.
  22. Looking to find a sturdy wack jig head. I have used the VMC wack jig heads and the bass pro ones. I have had both of them bend out on large fish and on some brush. I am looking for something like the superline hooks but with a light weight on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking about just buying some hooks and using split shot on the shank for the weight and then just tying my own weed guards on.
  23. US Navy IT for 6.5 years. USS James E Williams, and Commander Naval Forces Korea. Now contracting for the Air Force at Tinker AFB.
  24. Lake is still closed. Tournament was move to Greenleaf. should be able to prefish Saturday.
  25. June 4th. hopefully it will come down a bit before then.
