  1. I’m in the same situation. With the rains and wild temperature swings here I’m just writing this year off so far and hoping for improvement in May.
  2. Weather forecast earlier in the week was for high 70s for a few straight days. Well, we had a high of 80 degrees yesterday but now there’s a freeze warning for tomorrow morning. Water temps at most lakes around me are mid to high 40s and the bass are refusing to come up shallow. Last April I was catching them on topwater baits but now they are hanging at 30 or so feet. Very frustrating. (Southwest Missouri)
  3. Missouri weather is awful also. Thirties one day and seventies the next with twenty to thirty mile an hour winds. Kills the bite.
  4. Oh ok. I just ordered that from Academy and it cost $8.48 with tax and free shipping.
  5. Not sure where you’re seeing this $15 shipping charge from Academy. I just put one in the shopping cart there and the shipping is free.
  6. Big brown truck just dropped off some new fishing gear for me. Shimano Stradic CI4+ 3000 *** *** 6.6:1 G. Loomis E6X MH/F 7’ If the temp gets above freezing this week I’ll go out and give these a whirl and report back.
  7. 110 size in either loon or munky butt.
  8. If you’re looking to save money don’t forget about the bargain/clearance bins. Places like Bass Pro and Academy always have a selection of lures at heavy discounts and when they do I stock up.
  9. Six years in the Army.
  10. I fish from the bank, a kayak and a 10'2" Bass Raider. The Bass Raider is much more stable than any canoe or jon boat I've been in. But having said that, there is still some rocking motion side-to-side that takes a little getting used to but anyone with a reasonable sense of balance will be fine. I doubt it's possible to unintentionally tip one of these over since I've actually stood upright on one of the sides with no problem.
  11. My thing seems to be turtles; big, small, doesn't matter if they're there I catch them. No turtles but my latest outing at one of the local bass lakes netted me three small sunfish on a 130 size Whopper Plopper.
  12. I've done this for years. Always take along a box with proven lures I know will work when others won't.
  13. I've been using them since they came out, mostly the 90 series loon and munky butt and have had great success with them. I only use braid with these. Using mono or flouro drags the nose of the lure down and will prevent it from making the plopping sound.
