-Thanks for the help guys. Im not going to try and fix the motor because i would have to pay for the motor and then get it fixed, if its possible. Right now im looking into motors on craigslist. Im definitely going to buy a compression tester to bring when i go look at them. -What do you guys think about a new motor, should i stay at 90hp go higher to a 100-115? or go lower and find a newer 70hp? -the boat (15' 5" Cajun) with the 90hp would go 45mph with two people and a full load. Any input would be great, Thanks

I was having trouble getting it in neutral so i brought it to the shop. They did a compression check on it before they re-installed the lower unit and cylinder three was bad, compression was at 105. im glad i didn't pay for the motor yet, and i guess its back to searching for a new motor. thanks for the quick replies @fishingrhino i will try that tomorrow. @gotfishyfingers it is when the motor is out of the water. It doesnt sound like the normal clicks its very loud and distinct. I found this youtube video and this is exactly what it sounds like. Also the throttle cables are the only things not connected right now, im not exactly sure how to attach them to the motor. thanks -matt-

-Hey guys sorry i never responded, a college graduation, deaths in the family, and a couple 80 hour weeks will put the motor lower on the priority list. -I ended up bringing the motor to the shop and there were a list of problems including bad compression and the carbs needed to be cleaned. It was going to be close to $1000 for all the fixes. I ended up buying a 1988 mercury 90hp off a guy i work with for $600. The only problem was it did not have power tilt/trim. We decided to take the power head off my motor and replace it with the newer. Everything went well except now when the propeller is rotated clockwise it clicks 5-6 times per rotation. im not sure if we did something wrong but my guess would be the shaft is misaligned or something? any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks -matt-

Thanks guys, i took it out today and had someone squeeze the primer bulb to act as the fuel pump and there was no difference. I was also told to hit the choke while its running to see if that helps although i didnt try it yet. I talked to the marina and they said the carbs probably need to be cleaned(450$). Looking at the SELOC repair manual it looks like an extensive job, has anyone done this themselves? or do you recomend having the mechanics do it? thanks for the help -matt-

@nice_bass im not sure what it would sound like if it wasnt running on all cylinders but it seems to be fine, thanks for the reply. @ fishing Rhino i was aware of the problems last year however i didnt have the funds to have it looked at. There was about a gallon of gas from last season and i added six gallons of gas before i went out. If by treat your fuel your referring to a seafoam type additive i always include it in my fill ups. I did not run the motor completley out of fuel last season because i read that it was not good for the engine? this may not be correct. I am no expert on motors so im sorry if im not 100% clear. Would you begin with cleaning the carbs? Thanks for the reply -matt-

I have a 77' mercury 90 hp, last year i felt a big power loss the last couple times i went out. It wouldnt get up on plane as fast and i lost about 10mph. This year it wont even start without giving it throttle then stalls when i try and go to idle or put it in gear. i was able to get it into gear a couple times and it only reved till 1800 rmp's and i was only at 6mph. That was at 3/4 throttle any more throttle and it would stall. It will rev normally in neutral. Im not sure wich direction i should be headed any tips would be greatly appreciated. Hey Wagn nice to see you back on here, I got out early this morning before work. I could see them cruising the shallows less than 8" of water but they weren't biting. I caught a couple pickerel but no bass, a kayaker had a fish finder that said water temps were 58 but it felt colder. -matt

Hey Spencer give northern bass supply a call. There in Brentwood NH, the people their are friendly and very involved in NH clubs. I know they run a tournament schedule but their are other clubs like bubba Bassin. It all depends on what your looking for. Good luck -matt

I was given a 15hp gamefisher motor and was told all it needs is a new carburetor. I dont know the year of the motor but here is the model number: 225581494 Serial number: 1174. Any information on this motor would be extremely helpful. Thanks -matt-

hey kevin, be careful launching i dont think you can touch the water because its a drinking supply, i could be wrong. The boat launch gets full quick so getting there early might be a good idea. Its right next to the public launch. The area is sectioned off with posts connected by chains one of them has a lock on it. I might end up there around 12 now as I at have to work in the morning. -matt-

Long pond in danville is good and usually not as busy but it only parks 2-3. On the weekends there is greenwood pond also in Kingston but idk if there cool with people putting boats in there i just use my canoe. if you are a Kingston resident i believe you can get a key for the resident boat launch on Kingston lake and there's always room in that. -matt-

Congrats on the new boat klubba what did you get? I will be out on kingston lake Saturday as well. Im going to be there early because only 5-6 trucks fit at the launch and it gets busy fast! -matt-

Hey guys, ive been fishing Pawtuckaway alot lately. There are alot of fish in there but i haven't been able to find anything larger than 3lbs. Fish have been caught off docks, drop shot in 20+ feet in rocks, and in the scarce weeds. The lake is nice but its very hard to navigate with rocks everywhere. Hope everyone else is doing good. -matt-

MikeOGNR, there are big fish in most lakes in southern NH. The guys in the southern NH thread have caught many 5+ lb fish. check the pages in that thread for some locations. Your information says you fish winni, check out some of the local tournaments online you will see multiple 5-7 lb fish both small mouth and large mouth. A fish in this range is a good fish but IMO not a fish you would mount. Go down to Florida or other states, on some guided trips and get a nice double digit bass and then mount it. Just think if you take it out of the lake and mount it, that fish will never be able to be caught by another person or grow bigger. This is just my opinion and different strokes for different folks. Hey guys i got out for the first time in a while over memorial day weekend. I went to Great Pond in Kingston and Long pond in Danville. Both times i caught over 10 lmb. Heres a couple pictures of the biggest. 4.5lbs -matt-

J just picked up another job for the summer with a party tent rental company. It pays 15$ an hour. During a normal 8 hour day we maybe work for 3 hours the rest of the time were getting paid to drive the company trucks to and from sites. The three hours we do work were bustin are ***. Yesterday 8 of us put up a 280' by 60' tent with about 250 4 foot stakes to pound in. Between this job and my normal security work im at about 60 hours a week and still find time to hang out with my friends and fish. Retail can be good cause if your still in school they usually will work with your schedule. Ten dollars an hour is good for being 18 and your getting a substantial raise. I would keep your job. -matt-

Well maybe glen will get rid of the ads and you can start paying the expenses.. I have no problems with the ads as I come here to learn by reading others posts. As for the need to be "computer saavy" the site hasn't changed in that regard at all. The only changes came from new and updated graphics. I think the bruins can win the series IF they create opportunity's on the power play. Going 0 for 21 is unacceptable. I also think they are better than they looked against Montreal, its always been a tough match-up. -matt-
