Hey guys!
Getting back into fishing after a long time out of it (20 years ago was probably last I fished when I was a kid)
Anyways, lots has changed and I've taken much more interest in it and understand a bit more now. I wanted to try a baitcaster, so I picked up an Abu Garcia Blackmax 3. I had bought a set of 4 rods for 20 bucks from a guy and it had 2 Berkley Cherrywood HDs in it, they're both 7' MH. So I threw the Blackmax 3 on one, and kinda kept my eyes open for another baitcaster.
Just last week a guy listed some a Bass Pro Shop Prolite Special for 20 bucks, so I went to go meet with him and got to talking about trying to get back into fishing so I can take my son in a while. He was an older guy who had more gear than he could use, so he ended up selling me the BPS Prolite Special (and another BPS Prolite Special) and 2 Abu Garcia Ambassadeur S3600c! In addition, he sold me 2 Falcon rods (6' M) and I had a Ugly Stik 5' Light from another deal.
As a very amateur angler, what's the best way to pair these up..or get another rod? Sell some baitcasters? (I also have a few different spinning setups as well) My main concern is that they're all so similar in gear ratio, that it may be better to sell a few and buy different, but I just got them so cheaply and I'm a very amateur angler right now that I should just pair them up and hit the water.
TL;DR
Reels:
1 Abu Garcia Blackmax 3 (6.4:1 GR)
2 BPS Prolite Special (6.3:1 GR)
2 Abu Garcia Ambassadeur S3600c (6.3:1 GR)
Rods:
2 Berkley Cherrywood HD 7' MH
2 Falcon FC 4-16 6' M
1 Shakespeare Ugly Stik SCL1101 5' L (Would this even make sense to pairup with a baitcaster?)
Honestly, I'm really new to this level of fishing (more than buying just a combo off the shelf) so any input or constructive criticism will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
