  1. Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. Will gladly pass on any information I can from Australia. Cheers, Ric
  2. With friends like that who needs enemies ? When I go fishing for Australian Bass with my mate, when we hit a a "hot spot" where fish are on the bite, we take it in turns to cast into a particular area; help each other to measure and de-hook and release - congratulate each other when it is warranted (and good heartedly make fun of smaller fish and general stuff ups each other make) - and generally have fun and a good time in each other's company. Find a fishing mate like mine. Cheers, Ric
  3. Hi all. My name is Eric (Ric) and new to the forum. I live in Telarah New South Wales, Australia (about 2 hours drive north of the capital Sydney). Recently retired and love all types of fishing - prefer chasing Australian Bass. Am lucky to live within an hours drive to local surf beaches and a number of major salt water coastal lakes and dozens of river / estuary systems and freshwater dams and rivers. Last outing was on Williams River about 6 weeks ago and caught 8 Australian Bass; each between 8 and fourteen inches (nose to tip of tail) using small mid diver hard body lures (purple back to silver body). Fishing period was from 8.00am to 3.00pm in afternoon, when fish shut down due to rise in river and dirty water from heavy rains upstream. Am a member of Hunter Native Fish Inc. - a club specializing in catch and release of Australian Bass and research and restocking fish in the local area in conjunction N.S.W Dept. of Primary Industries - Fisheries; Maitland City Council; and students from university; as well as local projects promoting sustainability and environmental awareness at local schools. Cheers for now. Ric.
