Hi there,
I saw an article recently regarding line breaks, the guy was from South Africa. There are not too many water bodies in South Africa that will have line breaker species in the water. Simply because the most common predator fish in our waters will be Bass, no Pike etc. Line breaks however has been fairly common for me since I started using Braid. This lead to my son and I doing a fair amount of checking. We found that some hooks are not well finished off around the eye. There are often sharp edges at the end of the eye, also there is often a small gap on the eye where it meets the shaft of the hook. With braid being so thin the line tends to slip into this gap and we all know that braid does not like being nicked as this weakens it quite a bit. So much so that on two consecutive strikes I had line breaks and both times with not too much pressure on the line itself. The solution I believe would be to find a better quality hook or simply closing the gap on the hook with Super glue. Better hooks probably being the best bet.
