  1. Hey everyone. Just wanted to open up a topic for discussion about Beaverdam In Glocester VA. Fished there a few times and caught a few decent fish. Just wanna hear what everyone has to say about the lake and see what baits worked for you. I've had success and really only a Trick Worm on a T-Rig so curious how everyone else has done at this lake!
  2. Awesome! Thanks for all the info! I'm actually going up there for a tournament so the bigger the better! This is some great advice for someone new to targetting smallies! I really appreciate it! I'll have to pick some of those up and give it a shot! I love fishing swimbaits especially underspins so I'll keep this in mind! Appreciate it once again!
  3. Thanks appreciate it! Its supposed to warm up here in the next week so hopefully the water warms up. Already planning on having a Ned Rig tied on.
  4. Sure does thanks! Ill give it a try. I'm new to smallmouth fishing so anything helps!
  5. Hey everyone. I am going to be taking a trip to New River this weekend. Never been there also never strictly targeted smallmouth bass before. If anyone has any info on where to fish, baits to throw, how to fish, water clarity, current, literally anything relating to New River would be helpful. Thanks everyone. Tight lines!
  6. Nope but I am thinking about that same unit. I agree the price is crazy good so I'm curious just how good the sonar is. Thinking about picking one up. A 9in is $800
  7. I just saw a YouTube video showing the different types of poles you can use for a power pole and they weren’t all factory made. So I would assume you have some options when it comes to what length you want
  8. I believe thats what a power pole is. And I had that same thought it would be useful. I fish places with lots of low bridges and even if I put the 8ft fiberglass pole down all the way I am still not sure I could get under it. It would be nice to have a variety of lengths for different situations.
  9. I just sent him an email. I've been looking at his products for awhile. I was planning on getting one orignally when I was gonna get a Feel Free Lure but now that I decided on the Radar I hope he comes out with one for it. He does have a model for the Radar! I didn't see it LOL. I was looking for it to say 115/135 next to it but it just says Radar. I will definitely have to get one
  10. 10 would be perfect. I will have to see if Burnie will come out with a version for the Radar. I would definitely by that over the Power Pole. Its probably just as good and way more affordable.
  11. What is the length of the pole? If its longer than a Micro Power Pole then I'm sold on it. I know the Power Pole is 8ft. I would like one that is around 10 for rivers.
  12. I am definetly getting at least a 7. I'm only 16 and work only when I can so it all depends on my budget when it comes time to get it. Hoping to do good in tournaments this year so I have some extra funds for it. I have seen the River Stick. The only problem with it is they don't make it for a WS Radar 115. Hopefully by the time I come to get it they will. Does it actually hold you anchored well? I mostly will be using it during bed season and on rivers. Thanks for the advice. I am not too knowledgeable when it comes to depth finders but the more I fish especially in the winter so far I have used it tremendously. I am slowly catching on to all the fancy tech involved with them.
  13. I was reading an article that said it only works when you are moving and that when you're sitting still it is almost unreadable. Considering I know guys with side scan units I figured it was wrong so thats why I asked. I know you can adjust the read speed so I'm sure I can set it to the speed of paddling or practically sitting still. And I currently plan on getting a 7 or a 9. My dad has a hook 7 on his kayak and I feel like that's plenty for me. But the 9 also seems like it would be totally worth it.
  14. Awesome thanks for the advice! I'm saving up for it for next year. Gonna be fishing for a chance at qualifying for the KBFNC and wanna upgrade all my equipment. Got a new yak coming on Friday and gonna work little by little to add a new depth finder and power pole micro!
  15. Hey everyone. I am getting heavy into kayak fishing this year and want to upgrade to a new depth finder. I am planning on getting a Lowrance Elite 7. I was curious is side scan worth it?? Its only $100 more for the side scan model but some people have told me it doesn't work well on a kayak and I know others who use it. I could use the feedback. Thanks!
  16. This time of year they get used a lot. That’s why I wanna make them easy access and take up little space when I’m on the kayak. That’s how I keep my plastics when I’m on a boat. But that’s too much to keep on a kayak
  17. I see what you’re saying. And you’re correct. Pedal systems are not the best for turning due to the fact it takes the momentum of moving forward before you can turn. It does have reverse and with technique can be turned relatively easy. I will be paddling long distances sometimes up to a mile or longer. I’ve paddled two miles up river into current with my 10ft kayak I own now with little issues. It did take quite some time but it wasn’t even close to impossible. Being that I fish lots of narrow rivers and smaller bodies of water I feel that even making longer runs in a shorter kayak would be fine due to the fact it’s shallow narrow water in places that I would struggle to maneuver a 13.5ft kayak. And I know someone that puts a 14ft on the same type of car as mine and he has little problems but I feel 11.5 would be much easier.
  18. I fish in mostly small lakes that have motor restrictions or trolling motor only lakes and some narrow rivers that big boats can’t be on. As far as speed and making long paddles there is quite a few places I would be making these long paddles. I currently plan on buying the Helix PD for it in a year or two so I think I can sacrifice a little bit of speed for the time being I am leaning towards the 115. It seems like it would be a better boat all around for everything I need it for. I’m mainly looking for a boat that is good in almost every aspect and not something that strives at one specific aspect. As mentioned before I plan on buying the Helix PD within the next two years so I’m not too worried about speed.
  19. For now I’ll be transporting it in the bed of a truck but starting in March it’ll be put on top of a car. That’s another concern is I feel like having a 14 foot kayak on a car is a little much
  20. That’s the main thing I’m worried about. I really want a boat that can be good all around and not be good at one specific thing. That’s why I’m leaning towards the 115
  21. I didn’t know they added more speed. I figured since it is a heavier boat than the 115 it would be slower I’m not too worried about weight. I only weight like 160 and then all my gear is maybe like 100lbs. And I didn’t consider the wind
  22. Hey everyone. I’m planning on picking up a new Kayak. I’m gonna pick up the Wilderness Systems Radar. Is there any benefits of picking the 135 over the 115. I’ll be fishing tournaments in it on small lakes most less than 1000 achers and also narrow rivers. I will be using it on bigger bodies of water in the future as I plan to have this for awhile and buy the Helix PD for it. With that being said what would you choose? I know the 135 is heavier but I’m young and in decent shape so I don’t feel that it would be too hard to paddle. The only benefit I see at the moment is more storage which is almost unnecessary. So if anyone has any advice let me know thanks.
  23. I haven’t heard of those. I will have to give them a try. I currently am just using the ZMAN weedless jig heads
  24. I will have to try that idea. I’ve never actually used the trd tubes but I feel like it would be a really good thing to try some day
  25. I found your post when I was looking about it. I think it would be already to keep them in a Plano. If it warps the box then I will just know better for next time. I’d be a little upset if it melted my baits or something since it’s quite and investment. I wanna try the TRD Tubes here soon I just can’t get them anywhere in town. I’ll have to make a TW order here soon with some in it
