  1. Upgraded my spinning setup. St Croix AvidX 6'8" Medium, extra fast with a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 2500 reel with Berkley Vanish 8lb test. This is probably the nicest setup ive ever had haha. Will mainly be my top water and worm setup. Should go nice with my Mojo Bass, Lews speed spool baitcasting rig. To those curious, CZP01 with an X300 ultra next to it.
  2. So since your post I've been looking at reels for that rod and was between Lews or Daiwa Tatula. Well I came across a guy selling a basically new Tatula HS-L with 7:3 ratio for 100 bucks. Had to jump on it. I guess they are normally 150 bucks. I was gonna get just a cheap reel to put on but figured why not since Ive had a hard time finding left hand retrieve reels haha. It won't be good for cranks since it's so fast but the only crank baits i really fish are lipless crank baits so there isn't a ton of drag there. Can't wait to get it!
  3. That was the plan! probably get a cheaper reel now that I'm pretty confident in my baitcasting now and can go a trip without a horrendous birds nest. Appreciate all of the tips!
  4. So since Gander MTN is going out of business, I went an capitalized on their sales and picked up a 7'1" MH fast St Croix mojobass bait casting rod to replace the floppy ugly stik I have been using. It is WORRRLDS better, casts further and more sensitive. Caught a striper on it today with a rattle trap on lake norman LOL. Was gunning for Largemouth. Also have switched out to 40lb 832 Suffix on my Revo SX and 20 lb Power Pro super slick on the spinning setup. Both are awesome.
  5. Hey guys, I'm new here. Really just started taking fishing seriously within the last couple years. What I've used over the last 5-6 years or so was just a 2 piece ugly stick with a president 6940 spinning reel with some vanish fluorocarbon on it. Has done everything i needed it to do but it was time to expand my skill set. Picked these two up not too long ago. 7' medium Abu Garcia Veracity spinning rod with a Pfleuger president XT 40 series reel. This joker is LIGHT and is super nice to use. I like bigger spinning reels, i know a lot of guys stick to 2000-2500 series but 4000 works well for me. This is my do whatever I want rod, good with top water but good for spinners/cranks/finesse as well. And then my first baitcasting setup Abu Garcia Revo SX left hand retrieve with a 6'6 MH ugly stik elite. I went cheaper on the rod but i plan on probably getting the same rod i have for my spinner as my BC setup as well sooner or later. Now that I've got BC down for the most part, i'm putting some 40 lb 832 braid on it. This is my top water rod.
