  1. Yes, it does strech less than the average mono and i feel that it transmits vibration better making it better for bottom contact applications. It´s a very good line.
  2. Give a try to the Magnum Zara Spook or the Super Magnum Zara Spook. They´re not easy to find but they walk like a dream!
  3. Go with the 4 power GLX´s (844, 854 or 894, i don´t think there´s a 804 on the GLX line up), Loomis medium heavys fish on the lighter side, i have a NRX 853 and 3/4 to 1 oz jigs is way to much for the rod...
  4. I honestly cannot choose one favorite amongst my reels because there´s 5 or 6 of them that i really like but my Core 101 is definitely one of them, such a great reel...
  5. All of them are Bluegill Flash with the exception of the two 4.8 ones on the bottom left wich are Sexy Shad (these 2 packs are for my A-rigs where i like the big one to be from a diferent color so it can stand out from the decoys). Pretty much almost all of my local lakes and ponds have clear water with just a very few ones with more stained, greenish water.
  6. Restocking keitechs plus a new "everything finesse" rod:
  7. I fish them both ways, with and without a trailer, depending if i´m wanting a little more bulk and action or not. When i do use a trailer it´s always a Zoom Fat Albert:
  8. 4 of the 10 biggest bass i ever caught (including my PB) were caught on a junebug color Zoom Mag II worm so yeah... i fish junebug worms A LOT!!!!
  9. Totally agree with what Heartland said, great for small jigs... underpowerd for bigger ones! I actually never use mine for jigs, it´s my light Texas rig rod. I would say that 90% of the time i have a t-rigged craw on it (1/4 to 3/8 oz weigth), it also makes an excelent weightless Senko/Fluke rod. Great stick...
  10. I think i saw somewere that it´s going to be 599$... but don´t quote me on that one!
  11. I would definitely wait for the new one. The 12 Antares is still a great reel in quality and size! By that i mean its bulky and heavy, i´ve seen a pic of the new 19 next to the 12 and it looks way smaller, plus the new one has the latest version of the SVS brakes wich i prefer to the original one (less need for constant lubing and less noise on the cast). With that being said... if you find a 12 one for a great price, now that´s being descontinued, then in that case yes... it could be a good alternative, but even in that case i think i would go with the 19.
  12. 7.3" Heavy Colmic Black Weapon Revenge 9.1:1 Daiwa Zillion TWS 50lb Sufix 832 with 15lb Sufix 100% Flurocarbon leader
  13. Ad the D to that list and you´re in the money! I had all the generations from the Curado since the B´s and my 201D is still the smoothest, and one of the more refined, of them all
  14. The Gambler MegaDaddy is big, really big!
  15. That´s the spirit!!!
  16. Hello and welcome to BR! Honestly, and unless you really want to, you don´t really need to buy none of the heavy crankbait IMX´s, your 904c SWB is perfectly capable for that kind of job... i use one E6X 884 SWB for the heavier cranks and it works just fine. Just my 2 cents...
  17. Fenwick had a rod in the previous HMX line that was exactly what you are looking for! I don´t know if the same model is available in the new ones, i don´t remember the model designation but it was a 6.6" medium mod fast action. I had one for a while and really liked it...
  18. Most of the time i fish them on a normal jighead, if i´m fishing around heavier cover (where the exposed hook of the jighead snags to much) i fish them on a t-rig with the weight pegged with a bobber stopper. I also use them heavily as trailers for spinnerbaits, chaterbaits and jigs (single and twin tail grubs). They are also one of my favorites trailers for the a-rig as they are cheap and have a lot o action. Seriously... it´s one of the most versatile and underrated baits there is!
  19. I´ve been known for enjoying fishing the occasional grub... Now on a more serious note, i have said it before and i´ll say it again... when everything else fails a grub is my savior! It´s probably my number one confidence lure, i´ve caught bass, zander, pike, wels catfish, barbel, carp etc etc... on them, i´ve caught small fish, medium fish and big fish with them, i´ve caught fish on winter, spring, summer and fall with them... you get the idea. If you´re not fishing a curly tail grub you don´t now what you´re missing...
  20. I haven´t tried house brand rods (newest models) in a while but Bass Pro Shops used to have some nice rods.
  21. I would have tied a 2oz tungsten and started punching that ice...
  22. Rex Lures Piraiber II...
  23. I know i promised you one when i received mine... unfortunately due to a small health issue i only started fishing mine way to late in the season to expect a solid bass topwater bite. So far i have used them in 5 or 6 outings, i would say i´ve allready have some solid 15 hours off fishing on them. First impressions? The swimming action is great, better on the 12" one than in the 8" wich was something to be expected. Casting them is not as great as someone would expect from such cylindrical shape, they don´t helicopter but assume a weird "U" shape most off the time especially if there´s wind... not to bad but also not great! They have 2 line ties, 1 in the bill and other in the head, if you tie your line in the one on the bill they are exclusively a wake bait, tying on the head will get them to dive a little bit. Hardware is pretty decent, at first i was a bit concerned that the hooks would get caught in the body all the time since the bodys are so thin but so far that´s not been the case. One thing that i love on them is the fact that they are very light for they´re sizes with the 8" weighting only 1oz and the 12" 2oz. That way you don´t need specific big bait rods to fish them and can get way with most MH rods for the 8" and H rods for the 12". Well... this is all very fascinating but the main question is... and what about actually catching fish? As i said i started fishing them to late in the year to have any realistic chances to catch a bass on them, so, so far pike as been the targeted species. So far i´ve got 3 small pikes on them: And ad a few more strikes that did´nt conected. So, what´s the veridict so far? Cool baits! I still need (way) more hours on the water with them before i can recomend them to anyone. And i´m really excited to see what they can do when the bass topwater season arrives (also curious to see how wels catfish are going to react to them). For example see how they compare to other wakebaits in the same price range. Until then i´ll keep trowing them for the thooty creatures...
  24. Last October my old, worn out, heavily fished and almost without any paint left 7" slammer meet his end in a poor judged cast against a bridge pillar... so, time to get a couple new ones: Now i´m on the hunt for a 9" one to try out for the first time!
  25. Considering that your rod is a Medium you probably will only be trowing smaller, shallower cranks, no need for the Winch for that application, i´d go with the 6:1 Curado... curiously that´s exactly what i use for my medium and deep cranks ... One Gen3 Winch and one 6.2:1 Curado I (and 1 Curado 71hg for the really light stuff)...
