Try a drop of oil in each bearing that is exposed, I know on my bb1 pro it had a little port that I could unscrew a little plate and apply grease to the main gear, see if yours has that and apply some grease. Great feature.
The first fish I actually caught with the rod was a 10lb carp, the rod handled it amazingly, had it paired up with a tatula HD. Man did that fishy ever put up a fight, it was awesome!
I've heard of a lot of people cranking with 7's, I'm not going to keep my hopes up that a 5 is going to come up out of nowhere. It's a lot cheaper for a company to tell you to slow down your retrieve than to release a new gear ratio
I use it for buzzbaits, frogs and spinnerbaits. Its for great feeling EVA foam handles, great reel seat as well. It is a very well made rod for the money, looks dope as well
I love my 3 HMG rods, I pulled out a 9.8 muskie (in my pic) using the m/mf 7'2" HMG rod. Handled that way way better than expected, I had 12lb floro on the reel which really had me worried! Still can't believe I caught that. Still remember feeling my crank slam to a hult and than this hog jumping straight out of the water, you could hear my "oh !@#$" across the lake hahaha
I found a really good way to go with a bunch of lures but leave with hardly any. Trick is to bring someone who claims they know how to fish, and let them use your gear, that's all there is to it!!! Walk in heavy and walk out light!
It was a pretty cool show! Lots of awesome people to talk to! I held the door open for the owner of live targets father and he hooked me up with a bunch of lures and gear! Then introduced me to Scott Martin!!! I was so nervous meeting him I could hardly talk hahaha
A drop of oil after a deep clean on the bearings is all you need. You don't want to over oil them or else you can hold the bearing up and it won't perform to its full potential. As to the tension knob, have the checked inside the knob to make sure that the little tiny pad is there? If its not then you might have taken it off when you were cleaning it in past services. Ill include a picture of what to look for, this one is on a Abu. Also it could be worn out if you keep it cranked down a lot. Depending on the material used.
When's the last time you had her serviced? Maybe it could use some love. Could be dry or dirty bearings or the gears could be dry and need some grease. I think most people around here including myself do a deep clean and relube our reels during the winter brake.
Meh if your reels are maintained and like @Yudo1 said a good flush and lube could bring back some life into a stock bearing. I've got bocas on one of my Quantum energy reels and the stock reel casts a very impressive distance but I don't really notice more then 5 feet when I did a comparison between a stock energy and an energy with bocas. If the bearings need to be replaced and you've got the loonies to spend, go for it.
Seems like every small body of water I fish has a population of about 4-5 bass in them... Really sucks when you try to impress your friends with all the fancy gear and lures you've got and NOTHING bites. ?
I called them, they are sending me a couple, but I'd still rather the carbontex. I'm fine trimming the washer, but there's enough room for the 46B washer to fit, I just need to know if going from a 1.45mm to 1mm is going to cause any issues?
Nothing really measured up, I need...
OEM
Outter 30.5mm
Inner 19.75mm
Thickness 1.45mm
It's a ceramic drag washer, so I might be able to get away with 46B?
46B
Outter 30.42mm
Inner 12.4mm
Thickness 1mm
But will the difference thickness pose a big issue? Or could I double up on the washers?
I called her, very very nice sweet lady she didn't have anything for my reel though.
I have had great success, the 5ft in clean water using the rusty craw colour pattern especially. It was 5-6 foot of water, very rocky bottom and I had three 3-4lb smallies crush it. The hooks help up fantastic, I also dressed the rear hook with some feathers and flash. I also caught a musky on a chartreuse 3ft. My all time favourite.
