  1. Nice! Nothing like finding a good area and going back to it for it to produce in a big way, gotta love the fishery!
  2. Not much of a lipped crank-bait fisherman other than in the summer time and I can tell you the KVD cranks catch them, but my favorites are the old Rick Clunn series LC lures, they produce. I think it really depends on what the fish want at the time, for example I fish lip-less cranks pretty much year around, and sometimes a certain brand produces more than others used from the same boat. For lip-less cranks I bounce between SK Red Eye Shad, Spro Aruku Shad, Xcaliber, and Yo Zuri. Depending on fish mood sometimes one brand outmatches the other and vice-verse, although the lure I have most confidence in is the One Knocker. KVD does modify the lures and uses different trebles and most likely does things he hasn't shared with the public, but KVD is on the active fish more often than the competitors and that is why he successful. He just happens to use Strike King, fish from a NItro, etc. So to an large extent it is the fisherman, but without some objective way to measure one lures success ratio over the other in a variety of situations we can only speculate and have fun doing so.
  3. I can answer. Rain was all around us, but we had nothing more than a light sprinkle where we fished, we had a bit of rain on way back to ramp, but out ran it. The wind was much stronger that what the forecast called for, about 15 knots since it was white capping and made for a fun ride back to ramp, but nothing too crazy. Fish were on outside edges, just cover water until you find them. Not sure what tomorrow will bring though.
  4. Deps frog is great, works like a jitterbug and hook-up ratio is incredible with it.
  5. Great game! Boston gave it's best and lost! Rondo is incredible knocking down two threes at end! He is the MVP tonight even in a loss!
  6. I have a frog affliction and have tried and used many if not all on the market currently. With that said there is not one best hollow bodied frog, but my personal favorite is the Spro popping frog. I like Ish's phat frog, river to sea, and koppers also.
  7. Depending on the trip and where from 3 to 12. For example on any given day on "the lake" 1. Flip/Pitch Rod 2. Skinny Diipper Rod 3. Hollow Body Frog Rod 4. T-Rig 5. Rattle Trap Rod 6. Spinner-bait Rod 7. Top Water Spook Rod 8. Big Swimbait Rod/Alabama Rig Rod 9. Swimming Frog Rod Used and caught fish off every single technique and rod last time I was out.
  8. I third the Daiwa baits breaking, especially anything with a bill.
  9. John, Just ignore those responses, its pretty clear from you message that you bought a Lowrance unit and need help with it, after looking at other products. I have Garmin in the Ranger and Lowrance HDS w/Structure scan on the Bullet, both have advantages and disadvantages. As far as Humminbird vs. Lowrance its a Ford vs. Chevy argument, that can't be won, to each his own. Get the DVD and be done with it!
  10. Just want to get you started, I would agree the pouting and calling for fouls especially during the 3rd game of the series against the Pacers was just plain dumb. As you know basketball is a game of streaks, he had a couple of bad games, but overall the guy is a top 10 player in the NBA. Nevertheless, I bet you are still soar about the beating he put on the Mavs during the 2006 NBA finals. Off the court the guy is laid back, nice, and humble, unlike many NBA superstars.
  11. Just looked up this old post from Raider Nation Fisher and was just getting a chuckle out of his clowning of the Heat. I guess I owe some Celtics fans an apology since I didn't pick them to even make the Playoffs, but to my defense, Rajon Rondo is not on Geritol and is the stud of that team, to me he is the best point guard playing. I am still pulling for the Heat in the East and I think Miami should win it even without Bosh, I think it is vital for the Heat to give Bosh time to recoup, and not play him too early in the series against Boston, even though he may be needed tremendously. Boston is weak coming into Miami and Rondo is playing incredible, but with Ray and Paul not 100%, I say Miami in 6 without Bosh! I am still predicting the Thunder in the West, but San Antonio's experience and scoring ability is tough to match. I can tell you both teams (SA, OK) can beat the Heat without Bosh since the Heat's supporting cast is WEAK, very weak.
  12. Soon he will be out fishing you, if hasn't already, nice bass!
  13. Congrats, is that PB?
  14. As many of you know I am a frog fanatic, almost to fault, so I am pretty confident with the Spros, but after hearing the feedback I am willing to give the Iobee another try, just ordered some to see if it was a fluke.
  15. That is not a Storm, my friend, that is a custom Big "O" boat made specifically for fishing the Lake and its one mean fishing machine! By the way congrats on you new boat and enjoy!
  16. Bum it, or did they get rid of bumping? There is a moderator on there that was also a certified technician who was always willing to help
  17. I have had him catching fish since about 2 in the backyard so he hasn't had an issue, yet! He use to pick up grasshoppers until he brought one in and showed it to mom and her friend, they all freaked out jumping and yelling and have ruined him, kid is now deathly afraid of them, still trying to get that "mom" caused phobia out of his system.
  18. Sounds good for $2800 You stated it has 4 batteries? The motor at 70lbs is 24 volts so that accounts for 2 of the 4, the starting battery is for the big engine, what is the 4th one for? Is it a house battery? if so you can stand to shave some weight and just use the starting battery for that. As far as what to do when buying used just follow what the rest of the crowd has been saying 1. Have motor tested (Compression, lower unit, prop shaft, prop, etc) also make sure all fuel lines are tested and replaced those old boats hate to sit around and bad fuel lines can ruin carbs and engiines quickly 2. Give the trailer a once over and be prepared to have hubs replaced, check axles for rust through, check winch, etc. Down in south florida I really like and use http://www.expediter.com/index.html 3. Test it out! That boat should run at least mid 50's at WOT with 2 people if not faster since it is a Stratos and that Johnson is noted for being light and fast, Make sure you budget for a nice GPS unit and attach that bad boy to your new ride if you get it. Also, make sure your tow vehicle is up to the task
  19. Tell the truth that is what happens to you when fishing for BERTHA, lifting those huge bags of fish gives you muscles. Stay healthy and post some pics of that cool truck you have and of course more fish!
  20. Bought a couple of backstabber lures and Jackall's IOBEE frog and used them yesterday while fishing Lake Okeechobee, I can tell you both were a disappointment. The frog lure was taking water on every other cast, the hooks were pointed a bit too far up so it hooked vegetation and the body moved up the line, caught about 10 fish before the lure ripped, the Spro still is better IMO. The Backstabber lip-less crank was equally as disappointing, The top hook would catch the line at times and if it caught any vegetation the lure's action was off. So save yourself the money and avoid these two products, says the bait monkey!
  21. Nothing like fishing out of new boat on The Lake, great!
  22. Thanks for the heart felt reply fellas! I do stock the canal/pond system and have multiple feeders throughout the canal system, I have persuaded some neighbors to put some feeders up to help with the fishery. I have released 100s of bass and bluegill into the system. Its a pretty good fishery, but with over 7 miles of surface area it is not really manageable for me, more like fun. I love it because I can take Adam out in the backyard and catch bluegills and tilapia until he gets bored of catching and the convenience of having a jon boat ready to go whenever I get that itch to do some catching is pretty awesome.
