  1. Wow that 2nd fish is all head! Good job with the spinner bait. Were you slow rolling it?
  2. Thanks for the kind words everybody! I'll be back at it next weekend looking for some toad crappies of my own. Goodtimes!
  3. Yep. Shiners and crappie jigs both produced. Slip-corking is almost as fun as sight fishing.
  4. I 2nd that. Purty fish for sure.
  5. Hit El Cap with a buddy for some bass and crappie action. We stopped on a main lake point for nadda before running to the north end. It was COLD in the morning and the run was frikkin COLD!. Hit the sticks for 2 bass. Heres Paul: 48-50° water... 22° air this morning I had ice on my guides. That's a 1st for me. COLD! 1 bass, (a solid 3) for me and 1 bass for Paul (1 and change) and the biggest crappie I've ever seen for Paul (2.2 on my boat scale but it looked bigger than that.) Freakin TOAD crappie and the only one for the day. Three Pimp my ride. ARB air locker coming soon because sometimes you need four wheel drive and lockers front and rear to get where I want to go. Good times.
  6. Unbelievable is right!
  7. Very cool and great photos! I would love to catch some river smallies. We have a distinct lack of moving fresh water around here, closest river to San Diego is the Colorado. I think there's some small mouth in there though. Great post.
  8. Sweet photos! What's the explanation for this one?
  9. Our reservoir levels can fluctuate by 20' or so in a year and they do look similar. Steep banks, hills, rocks and sage brush. Of course the reservoirs that are stocked with trout usually have a better grade of fish. Thanks for the welcomes! LOL! I eat salt water bass... ;D
  10. Thanks! El Capitan kicks it... I like it anyhow. Here's some other pics from my buddy's camera. Freakin COLD in the morning. (For San Diego anyhow ) Little Chunk Here's an 11# plus El Cap fattie that this dude caught in a tourny...
  11. Hello everybody! I'm an ok bass fisherman and I've found this site very informative. I hit El Cap in Lakeside (San Diego) today with a 2 friends. I had to split at 1pm but got 3, 1 came unbuttoned and missed 3 more. Buddies had 1 each when I left. 50's water, fishing a flat in 23' of water. Me Big D with the big fish of the day on a shaky head worm (up until I left) Tricks with a big mouth 1 crank bait fish 1 shaky head fish and the rest drop shotting. This is my first time drop shotting in fresh water. Boring but effective. Happy New Year!
