  1. Hey gang....I have my waypoints saved as a usr file...thats the format they were exported in on an HDS...I dont have the HDS unit anymore and Im trying to load my waypoints onto a hook unit. When I try to load them I get a message saying my software doesnt support the file....I have already updated my hook unit to the latest sw... I heard the hook can read files that are usr3... How do I covert my file? I tried using GPSBabel but Im not having any luck.

  5. Which additives particularly? Quickleen?
  6. What would you suggest as being the best option? I don't mind spending more money to prolong the life of my motor.
  7. Were you using the DFI synthetic?
  8. Hi All, A couple of months ago I purchased a used 2010 TR-18 pro w/ 150 optimax. I recently had to add some oil and it was recommended to me to use Pennzoil Premium Plus... I know another guy who had a mercury optimax but he had the pro xs.... anyway he uses Mercury DFI oil... is it worth it? It's a little more than twice as much. I noticed after I added the Pennzoil my next trip out I was getting some smoking out of the motor. Is that normal? I had the boat out a few times prior and I don't recall smoke coming off the motor...I will say the smoke was in the morning. I know thats common on some outboards. I just never recognized it coming out of mine. So 2 questions. 1. DFI oil worth it? If so, can I start to use it by just adding some now and eventually move over to just dfi. 2. Has anyone else had issues with the pennzoil premium plus causing your outboard to smoke? TIA
  9. First off congrats...I was in your shoes this year as well.... searched, searched and searched...glad you found something. As far as the transom saver goes I have a Rite-Hite and it seems to work well. The red clips will also keep your motor from moving. https://www.amazon.com/RITE-HITE-Motor-Holder-Stabilizes-Effectively/dp/B01LE77D7A/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1508525471&sr=8-4&keywords=transom+saver
  10. Im not totally sure. I havent had the boat out since last weekend. The issue I was seeing was the bow (elite 7) was either flashing zero or when it wasn't flashing it would ready something like 15' and the console would read something like 6'...I did stick my rod down in the water to get a better feel of the depth and the console was closer. The units came with the boat when I boat it. I think the elite 7 is the low end one and may just be garbage.
  11. I've only had this boat for about 6 weeks. I noticed the past couple of times that my depth readings are way off from the helm and console. I actually don't think any of them are accurate. I did notice that the transducer on the trolling motor can easily move off parallel. I've attempted to tight that up. I then looked at the back and kind of the same issue but one other thing I noticed. (not sure why I didn't notice this when I was buying it)... the transducer on the back was not installed totally level. It looks like someone replaced the transducer or the whole unit and where the old transducer was they used one hole and then made another whole under the old screw... I know this may be hard to visualize but I dont have a pic right now. So my question is. 1. Should I try to level out the transducer in the rear? If I do whats the best way to fill up the old holes? 2. I have a brand new hook 5 and hook 7 I could have installed to replace the older units. I forgot to mention the older units are elite 7xHDI up front and elite 5 chirp at console. As an example of the depth differences I was out this weekend and Im up front and I see 15ft...the guy fishing with me sees 6 ft at the console. Also some times the 7 up front would just flash zero...
  12. I did teach him how to use the trolling motor yesterday after this incident. Most lakes around here are VERY shallow at the ramp ...its extremely easy to totally mess up your prop etc.
  13. Yeah it was probably more my fault.. Well he's 12 and I barely trust him riding his bike...I am teaching him how to work the trolling motor... Anyway I thought you guys would get a kick out of this. We've all had our moments at the ramp.
  14. Lucky enough someone was putting in right after me and he helped us out.
  15. Happy Monday Y'all Thought you guys may get a kick out of this..... Told my son to hold the rope tight when I was putting the boat in...well I guess he now knows what I mean by the word tight.
  16. The wrap is like 20 bucks and its easy to do...I've done it before. I just never had anything exposed to sunlight. How much would a hydro-dip cost?
  17. Has anyone here removed their dash and wrapped it in carbon fiber? I have a 2010 TR-18 and it's got the wood dash look. I personally don't care for that look and was going to wrap it in cf. There's a bunch of sellers on ebay and amazon. Does anyone have a seller they would recommend? I'm worried about the quality and the cf fading in the sunlight. TIA
  18. Jacob... As mentioned above, you'll get a lot based off of brand...just like chevy or ford, most people have a favorite brand. Ok so here's my 2 cents. I was in the same shoes as you since the spring. I finally found something a few weeks ago. In my search I looked at Nitros, Tritons, Stratos and I think one Skeeter. Nitro = Was a nice looking boat. Had a wide deck. The one I was looking at had a 90 (smaller than what I wanted). You'll also find that nitros just don't hold their value very well. Im not slamming them. Every time I go to bps I look at them. Bottom line for me, I just didn't LOVE nitros. Triton: Love everything about them.... Love the way they look, perform and storage. I will say the deck is not as wide as I would have liked and of course I do have the gas smell in my lockers. I keep those open when Im not using. Never had an issue with chime walking. Stratos and Skeeter... my personal feeling was neither brand knocked my pants. Off.... Both are very nice boats. At this point I had nothing but a triton in my mind. Majority of guys in my club have tritons so Ive been in my fair share of them. Ranger: Simple..Just out of my price range. Never looked at one. Also mentioned above was the triton tr186....Thats a great boat IMO. I ended up with a 2010 Triton TR-18 Pro....I got it for $14,800. Nada on that boat is about 20k. I got that deal b/c the guy also had a river boat and her preferred river fishing . Another thing was he has some property at a local lake and needed the cash to get some stuff done... So to wrap this all up.... I would look for a triton. One thing I will mention is you're going to find that people that are selling boats that are in the year and price range you're looking for feel that their boat is gold. Some have very nice updated electronics, new carpet and seats. But at the end of the day you still have a 2005 or what ever year boat you find. Best of luck.... Mine is at the bottom of this page if you want to see it.
  19. Picked this up a few weeks ago. 2010 TR-18 Pro - Elite 7 at bow - Elite 5 in console I also have a hook 7. I'll either replace the 5 or keep the 5 and add the hook 7 off to the right.
  20. I just got my 2nd one and this one will be with me for awhile. My only advice is to get in cheap so you can get out with minimal damage to your wallet...that of course if you decide a boat isn't for you. B.O.A.T = Break Out Another Thousand
  21. I went with the bigger one. It was the one that was recommended by bps and ram...
  22. Boat has an elite 5 in console when I got it...Im going to add the hook 7 off to the right...yes the console has a windshield...its a tr18 fwiw.
  23. 1.5 should work or look for something else?
  24. Ok...yeah the bigger ball I believe is sturdier... I didn't see that...thanks
  25. Hi All... I need to get a ram mount for a hook 7...looking on amazon I see two that seem to be identical. Can someone tell me what the difference is?? I looked on Rams site and I could only find the 111u and not the 111. For $29 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00144COPK/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I1NSV32RSKU6A2&colid=3HA1SX1WFQ5TQ For $43 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000AXXZH/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I8AWK1H59OQOZ&colid=3HA1SX1WFQ5TQ
