  1. Absolutes are usually incorrect. I go down to 20 for some lures but use mostly 30. No issues. Although now I've switched out my 20 lb Smackdown for 12 lb flouro, Tatsu and love it. For what it's worth I've been fishing since the early 70's. LOL
  2. I like the idea of a 4 wheel cart for those long hauls.....just pull not lift makes a big difference.
  3. The heavier the better, I would also think trailer would make a difference. I'd go with a blade style tail on the trailer.
  4. I like the Reaction Innovations Spicy Beaver. I think the way you rig it has more to do with the position of the claws, I also think it has more to do with how weedless it is rather than the brand of craw.
  5. Well in all honesty I'm not very good at limiting what I bring either. I have 7 3700 boxes in my crate but fill a 3600 box under my seat with the lures I may need in addition to what's tied on already. There are many trips where I never take anything out of the crate, and when I do it's usually one time......but hey, you never know. LOL
  6. I take what I think I'll need plus a few extra.......I try to keep the number down.
  7. Congrats!
  8. Swim jigs all season for me. Swim jig vs chatterbait vs spinnerbait has more to do with water clarity, wind, and clouds for me than water temp.
  9. A few years ago I was at the St. Croix place in Minnesota going through their blemish rack, they had a Avid X H/Fast I was needing with a blemished label in their blemish rack. Guy said $150, I only had $120 with me, his replay, "It's yours" BAM.
  10. I had a C-Tug and loved it but it didn't fit well with my SS127 so I went with the Wilderness cart. If I were you I'd get the C-Tug straight up first.........buy once.........
  11. I'm going with spinnerbaits. Not that I had given up on them but I just gravitated more towards chatterbaits the last couple of years. Although I also use a swim jig a lot instead of a spinnerbait. This year I've gone back to having a spinnerbait tied on and used for no other reason than I wanted to. I'd say over half my bass so far have been caught on a spinnerbait. But tomorrow I have an online tourney and I'm fishing a gin clear quarry. If there's none or light wind only it will be back to either a swim jig or a chatter with a black blade.
  12. I find the same thing with SideVu. Next time out I'm actually going to lower the frequency to see if the extended range gives me enough definition for my liking. I also have the GT54.
  13. I snapped off the tip of a Braillist right at the top guide. I replaced the guide but it did have a definite difference in the feel. It's now my punching rod.
  14. Haha, braid them all together to make an UltraSuperBraid!
  15. I only use snaps on crankbaits. Those are the lures I change out the most while fishing and it's just easier for me.
  16. Dropshot worm on a dropshot rig. I just can't stick with it.
  17. What pound flouro would you use on that?
  18. I use spinning for dropshot and wacky rigs.......both of which I barely ever use. I try to only bring 6-7 rods in my kayak and the spinning rod rarely makes the cut.
  19. I'm trying some Smackdown this year and is by far the smoothest braid I've experienced
  20. Patience and don't rely only on what worked last time.
  21. Just last week I was fishing a place where I see beavers all the time but they always whack their tail and dive before you can even get close, often before I even see them. I was in my kayak and came out of a channel and a huge one was just on the edge in the water chewing on something and facing the other way.......as I silently floated past within about 5 feet or so and came into it's view it just froze..........lol It literally stopped mid chew. I kept floating and after I got about 30 feet or so it went on chewing.
  22. All my reels but two are Daiwa Elite's. Love them.
  23. I am 5'9 and fish out a kayak and my shortest rod is 7 foot even. I have no issues using any of them. I like the longer sweep of the hook set with a longer rod but in reality don't think it's much of a difference.
