  3. Lake Brittle...people are pulling 6lbers.....I myself is one of them....
  4. had it happened to me when saltwater fishing. I was reeling in a nice speckled trout and as I was reeling it in, It got heavy and then lite. I thought I lost it but when I pulled up it was just the head of the trout. everything else was eaten off by a huge blue fish.....
  5. yes brittle still rent boats with electric motor. brittle is tough, bass are spread out so you will get a hit from time to time. majority of my catches are far back where the vegetation are. I use kietech paddle tails and senkos.....sometimes ned rig for bass. panfish I use pink and chartreuse grub or black and chartreuse grub or watermelon grub. all in pink jig head. https://youtu.be/9oxR36-6kg8
  6. actually no, I bought PA hatch kit when i bought my compass. I moved the circle hatch to the front where there is a mold you can cut out. https://youtu.be/4Ti-Jpy734I
  7. If anyone is up for some snakehead fishing, Lake Brittle is pretty hot right now. I have caught decent size snakies, and I have witness others hooking up large ones too.....
  8. I have been watching the icast vids on these new pedal drive yaks. I think I would buy the pelican catch 130 hd since its using the orginal hobie drive. you can definetely do up grade drive which is 100% compatible. Next would be the mako which "so they say" that their drive well can fit any pedal drive, also since it is $999, thats a pretty good deal. BTW...I love my compass ?
  9. crappies and small lmb. nothing to brag about...
  10. BRM 5/5 report. tons of carp making noise. crappies and lmb. fished from 0700-1200 https://youtu.be/z7zvGTLaUuA
  11. that was the plan, as far up the soccer flats....
  12. I Plan on hitting BRM early saturday morning before rain comes in.....Ill be in my hobie compass
  13. good job. to me, that is the most hated fish to land.. This was on Monday @ my neighborhood pond ultralite tackle, before I had to meet my roof guy...
  14. I use spinnerbait for muddy/stained waters. slow retrieve. 70% of the time it works....muddy waters are all around us for now since that last storm we had. I have been out to 3 different places since storm, like brittle, Rez (bull run), my local ponds are all muddy/stained. For now I think Im going to focus on fishing me some trophy stripers down lower potomac (below 301 bridge) this sunday. Good luck to all of us...
  15. yes, boat ramp is usable.
  16. went out sunday morning with fishing buddy. had to hit the shad run this year. check it out. https://youtu.be/kX5EOKKs-PM
  17. Did you ever head out....?
  18. congrats, I haven't been out yet this year....I may try this sunday afternoon...
  19. Another outing at my local lake. went out around 0600, fished till 1200. Went out to try some homemade spoons and other lures. spoons were a miss except the tiny rigged for panfish. The other custom lure I made was just a 3/4 ounce bullet sinker with jig skirt (black) and a size 5 treble hook (plain and simple). 1.7lb and 2.5lb took a good hit and landed them. tiny spoon hooked up a dink.
  20. yeah, we have to get this thread going again, I myself have been in and out of the waters with a few hooks of 1-2lbrs, I have lost many battles on lite lines. Most of my trips are @ brittle, Occoquan Res & River with little to no success (still studying the area). I'm in the faze where I am testing out homemade lures. below is my recent outing @ brittle. First hook, I lost the battle due to lite line, second was a success @ 1lb (est), third was unknown species (lost battle).
  21. if you want to yakfish, you can rent kayaks @ wild river outfitters, day rentals for hobie pedal system I think is around $60. right off virginia beach blvd (rosemont area). hit up back river, NNres, or hit up lynnhaven or rudee inlet for some salty fish (flounders, pups, or croakers) plenty of species on the buffet menu....
  22. fish silver many times, caught a few nice size bass, but nothing to brag about. they did redo the dam area so water level was low over the winter months. only time i went this year was early may for crappies, no luck. small lake very little fish. carps and catfish will be around. deepest part of the lake is in the middle near the dam area.
  23. are you fishing both fresh and saltwater?
  24. check out TKAA.org tons of kayak-fishing info down tidewater area
