  1. Thanks - I didn't see a flash sale email in my inbox today. Of course they're sold out of the 7'3" heavy now, but they have the Skeet Reese performance series rods on sale - picked up a 7'4" in that one for the same price. For $38 a rod, I'm willing to experiment.
  2. Well this sucks. I realized I never saw a tracking email for these rods. Looking at my account, it shows no order placed, and my paypal account doesn't show anything ever was started either. I must have not completed the ordering process somehow. Dangit.
  3. Yep - but keep an eye on the website - but you see now that they offer the $10 rebate on PowerBait stuff (which is always valid regardless of how much you paid for the bait). So bookmark the $10 rebate form, then wait a week or 2 for the 4 for $10 deal to rotate back in (Hopefully before 9/2/17) - order online and get free shipping over $25.
  4. Oh it's real - you just have to make sure to send the correct rebate form in. The standard form on Berkley's website sometimes excludes Dicks - but there is a different rebate form that is specifically for Dicks, valid for purchases thru September 2nd. You can send in the rebate form 4 times. I just got 2 rebate checks in the mail this week - took about 4 weeks for them to show. Now that I know the checks will show, I ordered another 10 bags so I can rebate 8 of them.
  5. I was going to post about it as well - usually the rod deals don't have much, but Lews Carbon Fire casting rods - 6-10" M/F, 7-0" MH/F, and 7-3" H/F - each for $38.99. I've been looking for both 6-10ish M/F for jerkbaits and 7-3ish H for grass, so I grabbed one of each. You get $6 off the $16 shipping fee too.
  6. Well, there's always mail order. As mentioned above, the fun thing is when you do something, like order 16 bags of various powerbait worms on the 4 for $10 deal. You end up getting 6-8 different shipments, because I think they pull the order off of actual store's shelves, from wherever they have them in stock. The bad thing, there's no ship to store option, to bypass shipping fees like other places have done.
  7. Its weird - when I walk through the local Dicks, I hardly ever buy anything - selection is usually unimpressive, but their online deals, and free shipping deals, I've probably mail ordered more from them in the last 3-4 months than any other seller.
  8. About 2 weeks ago - lots of things like build threads in automotive forums is where I first ran into it. Let me try linking to a image on PB to see how it looks here - unless they've changed back:
  9. Sounds good! If you're trying to use photobucket - they cut off all their user's ability to post picture on 3rd party websites.
  10. It went back up last week if you're talking about the 4 for $10 powerbait deal? I got 8 bags of worms. What they aren't advertising is the rebate to get $10 back on 4 bags of powerbait. The rebate on Berkley's website excludes Dick's and Field & Stream. But the power of googling "dick's berkley powerbait rebate" you'll find a link that pulls the Dick's-specific PDF form back up.
  11. Welp, looks like the price didn't change, so I bit the bullet. $10 oversize shipping charge took a little of the premium out of the deal, but oh well. Added 8 packs of Powerbait worms on the 4 for $10 deal, and I'll fill out the rebate form (Valid thru 7/12) for each group of 4 to get that $20 reimbursed. $100 for rod, reel, and $40 worth of worms. I won't complain.
  12. Curious how they're going to adjust some things that are already marked down. Right now they have the Abu Orra SX combo marked down to $79 from $129. I fish 2 of these setups and they've been really nice for the ~$100 I got mine for. For $79 for the combo it's a steal. I've been looking for a deal on a Orra Winch - but if these are on sale tomorrow for another 20% off, I'll deal with a 6.4:1 ratio - I don't even need another 7' MH rod, but it's basically a freebie.
  13. Welcome from about 2 hours north!
  14. I know it isn't a "deal" per-se, but I see threads asking about where to get the best deals on rod sleeves and most all of the recommendations come in at places that are ~$6-8 each. Most of these specialty place's sleeves look identical to those I see on wish.com: web portal for all types of cheap Chinese junk - but, they also have rod sleeves. If you dig around, you can find 170cm sleeves for $3 shipped, if you're willing to wait 10-14 days for them to show up. I ordered a dozen for $36 which covered what I needed, and left me some spares for the eventual bait-monkey purchases. Also bought a 300yd spool of 15lb spectra braid for $7.
  15. Yeah and it only applies to a select list of sellers - it isn't site wide.
  16. Yeah - I understand that. But - I did grab a few things that look interesting, and some stuff that will end up in my son's tacklebox. I mean a $36 order, where $22 of it was 3 pair of the strike king polarized sunglasses, can't be all that big of a mess.
  17. Greaaaaaaat...I didn't even know about Overstockbaits until you posted that. Now I'm building a cart full of stuff from the .89 cent selection, lol. Yamamoto 4" worms? I don't know why I need them - but I'm telling myself I do. Random .89 spinnerbait? Why not, lol.
  18. Just a reminder to those that don't have a lifetime license. All Louisiana recreational licenses expire today 6/30, regardless of when you bought your current one.

  19. Ditto - all I own of theirs is a Fury 703 MH/F casting, but I have several other MH/F rods and this one is a little softer than any of them. Conversely - I'm really liking throwing chatterbaits and spinner baits on this rod more than on the stiffer MH/F's I own. In a pinch I think heavier/deeper crankbaits would be ok if I respooled with flouro/mono.
  20. re: Academy H2OXpress cranks: Agreed - I bought ~18 new hardbaits back at the Memorial day sale that had the same $1 off. They're solid choices that can help you fill up your crankbait game quickly. VMC hooks hold up nicely too. My biggest problem with them is keeping all of their naming schemes straight. Ultimately, I make sure I write the max depth on the bottom of the bill with a sharpie so I can quickly ID once they all get thrown in a tackle tray.
  21. Little tip - always leave something in your ebay cart. I've gotten 2 coupons recently for $10 off saying, "you forgot something, here's a coupon if you're still interested." In both cases, I ended up using the coupon code for something other than what I had in the cart. Bought a Daiwa Revros spinning reel tonight for $34.
  22. Don't miss that Dicks has the President combo for $10 more @ $59
  23. Yep - lot of people don't know how to read the DOT code on the side of tires. Glenn mentioned it in his video, but here's a still image of the DOT code. (Note: I've seen tires that only have the code stamped on one sidewall of the tire - so check both sides if you don't see it on the outside sidewall.) Here - the 4 digit DOT code indicates that tire was built in the 43rd week of 2009, or around October 19th, 2009. If you were looking at this tire, you'd know it was coming up on 9 years old.
  24. I had a flouro failure result in a broken off chatterbait the other week in less than 7' of water. After giving up on trying to snag the line I went home bummed. (especially because I had just caught 2 on that particular bait) I couldn't imagine if I lost a whole rod/reel setup. On a whim, I just got one of those android-compatible borescopes with 9' of cable to plug into my phone. Supposed to be waterproof, and has leds around the lens tip. Works pretty well in a dark room, as long as you're within a few inches of the bottom. Going to ziptie it to the end of a rod next time I go out and see what it looks like underwater. For $16, I save a couple of lures and it about pays for itself.
