  1. To me, 50 bucks is hardly a substantial altercation when you're paying 400-500 bucks for the product.
  2. I'm just playing the other side. Loomis MBR844C (IMX) is $285. You break it and pay $100 expediter service, you're still up $185. Falcon Cara rod is $169. You break it and pay $80 or half the price of the rod for expediter service, you're still up $90. Shimano does not offer any warranty other than manufacturers defect. Dobyns is $60 for no questions asked warranty. Out of those 4 manufacturers, it appears to me that Loomis still has the best warranty.
  3. I might be wrong but the only part of the warranty that has changed is the expediter service. They still replace for free any rod broken by manufacturers defect. The "no questions asked" warranty is increasing by 50 bucks, which still is a better warranty than the Falcon Cara rod warranty that was previously mentioned.
  4. FYI, here is the Falcon warranty. It doesn't say what the reduced price is but I was told 80 bucks or half the price of the rod. http://image.basspro.com/images/images2/pdfs/Lifetime%20Falcon%20Rod%20Warranty.pdf
  5. If you want to feel better then eat a couple scrambled eggs, sausage gravy/biscuits and some stuffed cabbage. Seriously though, I hope you feel. Food poison sucks. Not to make you think of it but what was it you ate?
  6. It seems Loomis rods have a history of breaking where yours did. I don't know if it's just coincidence or something they're doing to the rod during manufacturing. The only Loomis rod I broke was user error and it too broke about 4 inches from the top. The break was super clean as if a hack saw was used to saw it in to. To this day I swear it was a manufacturers defect but I went with the expediter service to avoid argument with the company.
  7. that's my point. But even if they replace this rod for $50 what's going to happen if it breaks again? I have already invested in loomis gear with the intent to keep it for the long haul. I will call loomis/shimano tomorrow and request they replace it for $50. I will post the results. On a side note, I really like the Falcon Caras from the looks and sounds of them, but I need to fish one to see if I will build my arsenal around them. IT didn't break. YOU broke IT.
  8. Also, the warranty fee increase didn't happen over night. There has been plenty of talk about the increase but yet you still went and bought one. And then you went and broke it because YOU were careless and not paying attention to what you were doing. How about instead of a warranty, you buy accidental fishing rod breakage insurance. ;D ;D ;D ;D
  9. I don 't buy a rod because of it's warranty. I buy it because of it's quality. If you need a warranty because you're clumsy and break your rods then why should Loomis replace it, as they always have for 50 bucks Loomis hasn't changed their warranty price for YEARS. I don't know why Loomis changed their warranty fee but I would imagine it's because of their new NRX series. I see the NRX being what GLX used to be and GLX being what the IMX used to be. The NRX is about $500 and GLX about $400. I have no problem paying 100 bucks to replace my $500 rod.
  10. That sucks. Let me ask you a question though. What is the warranty specifications on your car? Is it a lifetime warranty or can you replace your car if it breaks?
  11. I will be putting one of these reels on mine http://www.tackletour.com/reviewabueliteaurorapg2.html OR http://www.japantackle.com/Daiwa_reels/Megabass_Zonda.htm OR http://www.ichibantackle.com/showproductdetail.asp?productid=2601&name=ITO%20MONOBLOCK%20100%20XR&manufacturename=DAIWA%20%28TEAM%20DAIWA%29%20[JDM]
  12. The Calcutta (IMHO) is the most durable, well built, all around reel Shimano has made in the last 10 years. I don't know the weight of the Curado but the Calcutta is probably 9-10 ounces (without looking it up). I had the older Curado 100 and 200 and they both fished very nice. I got rid of them for my Chronarch 50's. I liked the 100 more than the 200 because it was lighter and I I kind of wish I still had it. I fish both low profile and round reels (Calcuttas) but each has it's own purpose. If you're looking for a lightweight combo (10-11 ounces) then don't get the Calcutta. I have a Calcutta 50gt on a 7' Loomis GLX MBR842C. This is the lightest of my Calcutta combos but it's also the smallest reel in the Calcutta family. It is a very SWEET set-up. Some say the line capacity is too small but I disagree. I used #8 Yozuri mono with no problems. I currently have it spooled with #20 PowerPro. If you fish saltwater, then hands down the Calcutta is the best. I won't use/buy any more Calcuttas for bass fishing unless it's the 50 or 100DC. The 100DC is extremely versatile. I use it for larger cranks, T-rigs, small swimbaits, like the Lake Fork Magic Shad and spinner baits. I find low profile reels fit me better and fish easier when I use jerk baits, top water baits and certain other applications. You have to decide which type of reel you want to use most often, low profile or round. If it's round, then NOTHING will top the Calcutta. If it's low profile, then there are many to choose from that are good quality.
  13. Don't weigh that rod down with an anchor. Get the Premier or older Chronarch, if you can find one.
  14. He would have died anyway. Oxy's don't cure the cancer, they just help relieve the pain.
  15. There not too bad of a reel. I have a few 700, 400, 300TE, 100DC (absolutely sweet), 50TEGT and I think I have another 1 or 2 lying around somewhere.
  16. That has to be the best line I've heard in a LOOOONG time.... ;D
  17. Help me understand your problem. 1. You fish braid because of it's strength but then you go and attach a leader to it. Ok, I can understand maybe foot long leader but is it really necessary to use a 6 foot leader. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of using braid? If you get wrapped up in something then you're going to be wrapped with mono and not braid. 2. IMO, braid is a LOT more sensitive than mono/flouro. So there again, why use a leader. 3. Why use micro guides? Is it because they look cool or what?
  18. You can send the police to talk to him but this is a civil matter and they (police) more than likely won't get to involved. The police can write a report and give you a copy but that's about it. You will have to take the report and pursue it civilly.
  19. To answer your question, NO. I would not shoot someone for stealing my t.v or any other property. The reason I wouldn't shoot them isn't because I couldn't pull the trigger but because it is ILLEGAL and I would find myself in prison. The posters who shout " I'd shoot and kill any SOB who I caught stealing my t.v (or whatever)" are more than likely the ones you'd find peeing their pants and dropping a deuce at the first sign of trouble and shouldn't be owning a gun in the first place.
  20. Asking a fisherman how much he spends on tackle, rods and reels is like asking a woman how much she weighs or how old she is. You just DON"T ask those sort of things.
  21. Sorry to say, But IMO, you already wasted your money by not buying an IMX or GLX.
  22. What model Loomis is it? If it's the GLX then pay the 100 bucks and replace it.
  23. Buy 1 red rose, a 2 pack of lamb skins, 2 creme sodas and invite Peggy Sue fishing.
  24. A'holes like him are plentiful in my area. Look at me, everyone pay attention to me, I'm the black sheep of society, someone PLEASE give me some attention. Too bad the speed limit wasn't 70mph and the guy wasn't driving an 18 wheeler.
  25. Lets be honest, that's your boat and you were driving weren't you? Come on, tell the truth..... ;D
