  1. in order My father (original fishing partner) Hank Parker Bill Dance (both of the above because they are just decent people, with vast knowledge) lastly, Iaconelli....he's as loose in the noodle as I am.
  2. I would start deeper....vary retrieve speed....seek out shade. (I've always done better where the shade ends.)
  3. using the rubber worm logic, "if you want a hog, send down a snake". having used 10 inch worms once or twice, the logic does work....however.... your hookset will be much different. you pretty much had to waita couple of seconds before you set the hook. (much easier said than done) as far as weight....depends...on the rod, the vegetation in the water.... I went weightless. the weight of it's own mass dropped it rather well.
  4. wow....as the proud dad of each? that's tough....real tough. because they are both quality rods. gun to my head, I would give a very slight edge to the loomis....and I mean hair sized edge. if anything, it's the way it feels like it balances (and, it's a zero sum game in my mind....to the point I just held both, and honestly can't see a glaring difference...) either one is a winner.
  5. I have to laugh...the prices at their new owners are a lot better on camping accessories. when you consider who now owns them, that's kind of funny.
  6. doubt you'll see any screaming deals. the liquidators will get most of the store contents. gander did this to themselves. sucks for the employees. the higher ups should starve, but wont.
  7. ok...the end is a few days away, and, the prices are still stupid. pretty much wasted my time there last night. (and, they don't understand why the went belly up?)
  8. really depends on where and how I am fishing. I prefer the control I get with a baitcaster, however, the spinning rods I own toss some really light lures.
  9. ^^^^^ words to live by.
  10. Update....5 in pa to remain open....Warrington didn't make the cut.
  11. ^^^^ you must live close to me....I know 2 former sports auth people that landed there...total gut punch for them. I get the feeling that one will stay open.
  12. wonder if I worked at the same one.... did it go out of business last year, by any chance? nike and under armor were the real reason it died....we sold our collective souls to them.
  13. would stren ez cast be involved? (another disaster I had forgotten)
  14. I'd have created a whole new language. did that once, but not a new rod...guillotined in the sliding rear window of a bronco. cut the head off of a finishing nail, slipped it inside....crazy glue.....it actually fished better (was a cheapo Berkley....can't say I was surprised)
  15. I was ready to ask if he'd ship. (just sayin)
  16. could he do a couple fishing from a bank shows? (if he has, I missed them) (harry h from bucks county)
  17. I bet you could sell that one easily enough.
  18. not trying to be a creep, but, way too many variable to pick just one. example, I love 7 inch black/chartreuse ribbontails....for some condtions. others? black and silver mann's baby 1 minus.... others, footballhead jig and craw.
  19. Either the Mitchell spiderwire reel (bought 2...broke handle off of one almost immediately), or....i'll admit I bought it.... and paid full price .... the banjo minnow system... should have taken a Jackson out of my wallet, and used it in place of toilet paper.
  20. if you get a p.b., I 'm not sure if I will applaud you, or put you on ignore. (it's the day you almost weren't going to go that it always seems to happen)
  21. I assume the water is stained and murky? I used to fish that same pond, in another state... they will move around with nothing to connect with...(put them in a white pool, they will meander aimlessly....then put in a black line...they will congregate near that line) live bait, go near the trees, slow your retrieve (we in the northeast have our work cut out for us), try one step at a time...you'll find the missing part.
  22. So, you're an Eisenhower fan?
  23. that stinks...that stinks out loud. I wish you luck, and will be praying for you to land on your feet.
  24. never....then again, I have never been asked. my only interaction with f&g was on a rifle range....and, I was only a bystander...Thank God.
  25. you'll smoke a turd in purgatory for that.
