  1. That's all great for you guys, but not in my boat.
  2. Couple of years ago, late November, we were suppose to have a day in the seventies. The last warm day we were going to get for the year. Wind from the south pushed all the leaves up to the north, packing in on the boat ramp. Just as I was going to pull the boat off the trailer, I thought, hey, I should take a picture of this. After I recovered I got what I could off the trailer. That next spring, I happened to noticed a lot of leaves float away when I launched.
  3. Regardless how it works out, those magnets are nice to have. Lose a bolt and washer off your mower in the grass... They can save you a tons of aggravation and time .
  4. This is what I did! Shot them off July 4th. No one knew the difference.
  5. The only place I can think of that might match some of what your looking for is at Lake George, downtown Hobart. The top of the dam they used a lot of large rocks to reinforce the bank. Get too far out and your back in the muck bottom. Other than that, I can only think of the various marinas along Lake Michigan. You can make your way to the break walls. You would be fishing in a lot of large boulders, which might not be what your looking for. Clean hard bottoms (), are rare around here. The closer you get to the Lake you will find more sand. Finding a place to fish from the shore, is that much more of a challenge.
  6. I found these wipes, which I keep in the boat. Prevents over-spray.
  7. Were do you plan to call your "Home" lake? Unless you plan on launching on Lake Michigan, most launches are not real busy. If your just practicing, give way to anyone who wants to launch/recover. You might pick up a few ideas watching them. I would advise against practicing at a river. Some of the rivers around here can be a little swift. One less challenge, while you figure things out. Also, there are a few launches in the area that have fees. Something else to consider as you plan your day.
  8. My stern light was right at eye level. Turn of the head, and I'm looking at a bright white light. I found another section of aluminum pipe and swaged on what I had. Now the light is higher up, and comfortably out of my line of sight.
  9. Ha!! I have the same thing! 2000 Silverado 2500 long bed with around 50K miles. We only pull it out to work. We keep it for the gooseneck horse trailer mostly, although it has come in handy plenty of other times.
  10. The only place I pay is to launch in Lake Michigan. The city of Portage owns the marina and ramp, $15 a day. It's a nice ramp, so no complaints. Better than a gravel incline into the water. I've never seen them checking for tickets when launching. If you didn't have to park, and did a launch and go, you might not have to really pay. Not sure.
  11. Heated seats! He should have led with that.
  12. Why not shrink wrap in the winter, then Sunbrella in the summer? That way you should get twice the life of your canvas cover.
  13. Quick, just so everyone knows returning your dog to the rescue, is one of the most kind things you can do for your dog if you can't keep him anymore. My wife and I have fostered A LOT of dogs over the years. For various reasons, many were returned dogs. Like you, I would find it inconceivable not to have my dog with me... Anyhow, Merry Christmas
  14. I've been following this saga for awhile now, we need more pics!
  15. There is an inlet to a lake I often fish. Quite, no one for miles. I have more than once wished I had a hammock, or something to catch a few winks on. I don't think the seat posts could take my weight like that. Also, the console is in the way...
